...would go about getting out! We did have to leave the keys on reception (so they could move the car if required - which they did as it wasn't in the same place when we returned). For us the car park wasn't too much of a problem as we didn't use the car for the break, however it was hard work getting in the small space! Staff were friendly on arrival and we were seen to our room quickly. Location The hotel is ideally located in the centre of York. It is right near the York Dungeons, only 10minutes walk from York Minster. We visited most of the main areas of interest on York and everywhere was close to the hotel. Because we came at Christmas we were also right near a temporary ice rink, which was situated only a few minutes from the hotel. A hotel in the heart of New York City

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!

Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts. Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. **ABOUT THE HOTEL** The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. Disadvantages: Parking facilities, but thats it!

York railway station is located approximately 0.5 miles away, so this is perfect for a break without the hassle of driving. Leeds and Bradford airport is only 24 miles away, and can be reached then by taxi, public transport or even hire car. However, if you do want to drive, the motorway junction (A1) is around 11 miles away. ...My husband and I stayed a the Hudson during September 2008, on my first trip to the states. We were away for 2 weeks, of which 5 nights were spent at the Hudson. This meant that we could compare this hotel to several others in the US, including one other in New York. Generally, the Hudson came out of this very well! We had originally booked into the York Ibis but I decided to book this hotel as a surprise for him and cancel the Ibis - and I'm glad I did. I researched quite a few hotels in York but this one seemed to have the grandeur, facilities and central location I was looking for - and it had a spa! Originally named the Royal Station Hotel, the hotel was opened in the 1878 and was owned by the Northeastern Railway Company, the purpose of the hotel being to disguise the train station which is behind it. Although named the Royal Hotel, no member of royalty has actually stayed here. Edison hotel New York

Advantages: Rooms are spacious, clean, fresh and everyone is so friendly.
Disadvantages: No disadvantges, loved this place.

...I visited this hotel with my school in February 2007 and there was a group of 40 with 5 teachers. The group included boys and girls, there were very welcoming when we arrived after a long flight from England and getting up a 4.30. They allowed us up to our rooms, which where very spacious and comfortable. They had big double beds, which could have easily have fitted three people in. The bathroom was spacious and clean with lovley hot water for when we took a shower in the morning and after a long weary day. They provided us with big white fluffy towels to use after our bath and shower and layed out complimenatry gifts for us to use. The hotel is just round the corner from Times Square which is buzzing all the time with the bright lights. I recommend you visit this hotel, with its friendly staff and comfortable beds....

...My wife and I stayed at the Queens Hotel on a Saturday night, in mid-May. The hotel is quite modern, having been converted from an old warehouse in recent years, and is only 4 storeys high. It is right in the heart of the city centre, within the city walls, and is on the riverside overlooking the River Ouse. It stands directly opposite the Kings Arms pub, which is famous for getting flooded after prolonged periods of heavy rain. The Queens Hotel stands on Queens Staith, however because it has been fairly recently converted is designed not to be adversely affected by high water. As it is in the city centre there are loads of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as 2 theatres, 2 cinemas, various museums, including the Jorvik Centre as well as the Minster etc. all within a few minutes stroll. Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!

Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees...

...I recently had a chance to stay at this rather lovely 4 star hotel in York. My husband is involved with a medical company and for their AGM this year they stayed at The Royal York with a meal at the nearby (if you call 40 minuets on a coach) Castle Howard. All very posh and normally way above my means of expense (for the general person attending this function think doctor, surgeon, well paid researcher), however as hubby does work for them they paid for most of the trip (we had to pay £26 in total, what a great deal!).
