Swallow hotel (Kirlangic)

Advantages: Close to town centre and market
Disadvantages: not allowed own drink into rooms. No air conditioning

...It was last year that my wife and I stayed here. The hotel name was in Turkish which was called "The Kirlangic". This means swallow. The Hotel sits on the main road into the town and right opposite one of the entrances to the market which is on every Monday. So if you have a room facing the road you will be awake early (4 oclock ish). At the time only some rooms had air conditioning. The rooms are small in comparison to a lot of hotels in the area but you only sleep in then anyway. They are clean and fresh. I found the staff friendly, even more so if you speak a bit of Turkish (but dont let them know its only a few words, it keeps then on thier toes) they feel you are making an effort. Magical Marmaris

Advantages: Cheap - Variety - Sun - THE LIST GOES ON

...roughly 4 hours. Transfer Time -------------------- When you arrive into Dalaman airport there is a lengthy transfer which will be around 1hr 30 mins - 2 hours. This is a bit of a nightmare especially if you have restless kids however most companys make a halfway stop - and the coaches are well air conditioned and comfortable. If your transfer is during the daytime its great looking out the window seeing some of the beautiful landscape in Turkey, how everything looks so natural and fresh - it really is breath taking.. so try to think of your transfer as just an extra bonus to your whole holiday experience. a week in marmaris

Advantages: Fun and hot

...I went to Marmaris, Turkey for a week in July 2007. It was a late booking and Turkey seemed to be the only thing availible in my price range. Turkey's never really been a place where i thought i would like to go to but i thought i'd give it a go, and by the end of the holiday i didn't want to leave! The weather when i was there was really really hot, but luckily in most shops/hotels/restraunts there is air conditioning. If you can't handle the heat however, i would not reccomend going to Turkey. The beach in Marmaris is ok, theres sun loungers everywhere that you can use, but you need to pay for them. Theres restraunts / bars / shops right next to the beach so you dont need to walk far to get a drink or some food. The annoying thing is that when your lying on the beach [especially women] the waiters from the restraunts constantly...

Welcome To Marmaris.

Advantages: Nightlife, Shopping, Sun, Sea, People
Disadvantages: The beach.

...you will take a stroll through the beautiful forests, then ride back to base. The Turkish horses are a bit smaller than the horses back home, I would call them ponys but they are very strong and very well trained. To go on a horse safari it would cost you around £25-£30 per person, the trip lasts around 4 hours. You can also go on a diving tour, a bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a boat, you will have your own instructor and you will have dinner on the boat also. Enough boat trip which you would enjoy is the BBQ by boat, this is a daily boat trip and you will visit the coves of Marmaris and the other marvellous bays for a swim in the rich blue sea.This boat trip starts in the morning till around 5.30pm. this will cost you around £10 per person but this price includes lunch, transportation, insurance and guides...

A guide to Marmaris

...arrived at my hotel at 3am and so went straight to my room to have a much-deserved sleep but the room was so hot (because the air conditioner hadn?t been left on) so I sweltered for about an hour before renting a fan from reception and finally getting to sleep. One of the first things I noticed about the country was how odd the currency is. I thought the change bureau had made a mistake and accidentally made me a millionaire. In actually fact the economy of Turkey is a little messed up and everything is in millions! A way to compare English and Turkish money (so you know how much you are paying for something) is £2 is about 5 million lira, £4 is 10 million lira, etc. I was informed by a helpful guide that Marmaris, like 97% of Turkey, is actually in Asia! Average hotel but not a 4 star

...I recently came back from Turkey after a weeks stay at Alinda Hotel in Icemeler. We arranged our trip with Chapa Travel as a package tour. The hotel is quite inexpensive and would cost 40 Turkish Lira a night if you were to book directly (End of Aug/Early Sept) but i'm sure this price varies depending on the time of year. First impressions We arrived at our hotel at 3am in the mornig and were greeted in English by the hotel staff. We were staying on an all inclusive basis and they had prepared a breakfast meal in a takeaway container for us as they were not expecting us to be awake in time for breakfast, which was rather nice. Unfortunately it was only Bread, Olives and Feta cheese, which wasn't too appetising but I guess its the thought that counts. Breakfast was served between 7.30 and 9.30 but unfortunately I was never awake...

The distance from the airport to the center of Marmaris is approximately 2 hours, the route from the airport to the resort is not a pleasant one for bad travellers as it is quite a long journey and you are found winding up the tops of mountains, however, instead of crowding into a taxi, they will send an air-conditioned mini-bus or coach for you depending on the number of people travelling to the resort., with an English speaking driver, able to answer any questions you may have about your upcoming holiday. Accommodation Marmaris, as the largest resort in Turkey, has accommodation of every description, from the very inexpensive pensions (guest houses) to 5 star deluxe hotels. Whatever your requirements and budget you can find accommodation to suit your requirements. I stayed in Club Ilayda while I was in Marmaris, I would highly reccommend...

Angora Hotel - you have been warned

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Dirty

...actually had a balcony with two chairs - still no table though. All rooms in the hotel have cream carpets complete with cigarette burns and brown stains. It was however a lot larger and had a couple of windows. Do not expect hot water we had to take cold showers most nights - the hotel manager told us this was common in Marmaris - i don't think so. We never actually ate in the restaurant although it did seem cheap. The staff were friendly enough unless you dared to bring in food or drink that was not bought in the hotel - if you were lucky you got a warning - if you were unlucky you got the items confiscated!! On speaking to the rep on the way home i discovered that most people who stayed there were putting in complaints and the hotel would not be used by our holiday company again. In summary - DON'T GO THERE!!!!!!...

Quite simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. In fact, I have stayed in better grades of dormitory in Youth Hostels when me and a group of University friends went back-packing around Europe in 1998! The hotel is the absolute pits and I would avoid it like the plague. Every guest who stayed at the hotel during my week long stay had nothing but bad words to say about it. In fact, 5 families requested an instant transfer to an alternative hotel, they were that disgusted with the facilities. I, on the other hand, just got on with it.
