Alton House Hotel
Advantages: Posh hotel, it looks nice, but...
Disadvantages: The staff
...I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better.
So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. Not a hotel. Rich people used to live in this house. It was only in the 1940's that...

Lochside House Hotel, Ayrshire, Scotland
Advantages: perfect service, helpful staff, lovely food and rooms
Disadvantages: can be somewhat expensive but you will get great service
...Lochside House Hotel
Located in the western Ayrshire, ¾ distance on A76 from Cumnock to New Cumnock lies the family hotel Lochside. As the name says, it's in the vicinity of two lakes, one of them Loch of the Lowes.
This hotel is owned by the Kyle family, who have purchased the property almost 10 years ago when it was in the state of a more or less ruined old farmhouse and they have advanced and refusbished it into a 3-star hotel which has to offer much more than just bed and breakfast.
I have worked in this hotel but it wouldn't be fair to tell you the Kyles' knowhow, now would it? I always thought it must be a pleasure to stay at Lochside as the service as well as staff was always brilliant, rooms well furnished and properly cleaned, menu vast and lots to choose from, also I've seen many guests coming back and a number...

Hillthwaite House Hotel - a Haven!
Advantages: Value for money, service, restaurant
Disadvantages: Drive is on a very steep hill!
...I've just got back from a long weekend in the Lake District. You might question the wisdom of going to the Lakes for a weekend of watersports and outdoor activities in wintry March, and you'd be right to do so! However, the gale force winds, hail and snow were made bearable by the excellent Hillthwaite House Hotel where we were staying. The hotel was an absolute haven!
Basics
The hotel is a family run business and has about thirty rooms. We were staying on a special weekend offer and paid £185 each for three nights, including bed, breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in Windermere and is about a fifteen minute drive from the M6. It has a swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Getting There
The hotel had sent a brochure after I booked on the phone and the brochure had a map on the back so I wasn't expecting any...

Villa country House Hotel
Advantages: Friendly staff, clean
Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems
...My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there.
From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces.
The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc)
The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will...

The Garden House WAS a Good Hotel
Advantages: This was a very good hotel in it's day
Disadvantages: Burnt down in 1999
...Review of The Garden House Hotel, Folkestone, Kent, England
You will note that my title for this review states that the Garden House Hotel WAS a good hotel.
So why is the word WAS in capitals?
Well, Ciao is a little out dated as this hotel actually burnt down in 1999!
The Hotel
I was born and brought up in Folkestone, Kent and remember this hotel as one of the grand old Victorian buildings that used to dominate my home town before the property developers moved in and turned us into a concrete jungle. Folkestone is a seaside town on the South East coast of England. It is around 70 miles from London and around 16 miles from the city of Canterbury. The cross Channel port of Dover is approximately 7 miles along the coast. Folkestone was a very popular holiday destination from the time of Queen Victoria.

Small Country Hotel Of the Year
Advantages: Great accomodation, great food, friendly and helpful staff
Disadvantages: Closed from November to March
...My partner and I recently enjoyed a 2 day break over on the west coast of Scotland where we benefited from better than average weather and spectacular scenery, I want to tell you a little bit about Glenfinnan and our accommodation whilst staying. This trip was in fact our 2nd visit to Glenfinnan, and the Glenfinnan house hotel.
GLENFINNAN HOUSE HOTEL
Set on the picturesque shores of loch Shiel across the bay from the Glenfinnan Monument, one of the National Trust for Scotland owned properties with spectacular views of Ben Nevis on a clear day. Glenfinnan House Hotel provides a retreat for couples who just want to have a break away from their busy lives and just spend some time relaxing.
The house itself was originally an Inn between 1752 and 1755 and was half the size of it?s present form, going on to become a farmer...

Ennerdale Country House Hotel Cleator
Advantages: Lovely location, excellent food and staff. Rooms were great.
Disadvantages: A bit remote, Noisy shredder in the toilet.
..., and I'm not sure if they are in all of the rooms, but it became bearable once we knew what set it off!
There were ground floor rooms available for the less mobile.
The grounds of the hotel were lovely and it would be an ideal location for a wedding. There were events on in the hotel every day and night of our stay and although we were in the room above, we were not disturbed at all. The staff remained polite and extra helpful although they were clearly busy.
We booked this hotel with superbreak and got an unbeatable deal for the May spring bank holiday weekend. We would say that the Ennerdale country house hotel is not the ritz, but for great value for money, lovely central surroundings great food and rooms it's certainly worth a look....

Avon Calling!
Advantages: Beautiful views of the Bridge and the Avon Gorge; free wifi; great terrace
Disadvantages: A bit pricy for food and drink
...The Avon Gorge Hotel is in a great position ,as it sounds, overlooking the Avon gorge! It is in Clifton, the posh bit of Bristol and definitely the bit you'd want to stay in you were only in bristol for Touristy things, and didn't need, say to be right in the centre for business or something.
So you can see the famous Clifton suspension bridge - some rooms look directly onto it and you pay a bit more for those I think. The others face onto the street, but it's a nice street!
Rooms are not huge, but comfortable and adequately sized with that "nice hotel" furniture you get - light wood, stripes, dark blue and deep reds in the fabric, plush blue carpets. Standard but nice.
Expect to pay about £120 for a double room B&B - they do have some weekend deals that work out cheaper. They have cots and highchairs and are OK about babies...

In A House In The Country
Advantages: Welcoming service, excellent food
Disadvantages: Chintz!
...Lydney House hotel is a former Georgian Merchant's House, based a few minutes walk from the centre of the market town of Swaffham in Norfolk. It is a place that my parents always choose to stay at in the area, and for my step-dad's birthday last month, I got to visit it too. Swaffham is a pleasant enough town, with a nice church, the shops aren't great and there are a lot of fast food and takeaway type places, but generally it is a good location for seeing much of Norfolk.
The hotel is a family run place and we were greeted by one of the owners, given our keys and shown our rooms. To be honest the décor throughout the hotel is a bit twee and chintzy for my personal taste, but it does suit the Country House style. On the bed (which uses sheets, blankets and a bedspread as opposed to a duvet), as well as lots of cushions, were...

Opera House? No Hotel
Advantages: Clean and tidy. Good service.
Disadvantages: Lift not available from entrance floor.
...The quality of a hotel can enhance a holiday or just as easily detract from its enjoyment. Often when choosing a hotel, we are guided by details in a holiday brochure or the information on the Internet only. For our trip to Prague, that is exactly the situation we found ourselves in. Prague has a plethora of hotels to choose from.
We spent quite some time scanning the hotels available on the net. We wanted somewhere near enough to the town center for convenience but far enough away to ensure a quiet night. And of course, the name had to be appealing!! We settled on the Tosca.
The blurb stated that the ?Hotel Tosca Prague is conveniently situated inside Prague district in the quiet street near Wenceslas Place- the centre of Prague life - takes only 10 minute walk from here.?
The hotel offers an airport collection service. When...
