...My friends and I decided to have a weekend away because it was one of their birthdays. We booked for a two-night weekend break at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool through National Coach Holidays on 19 November 2004. The brochure described the break as being ?All inclusive? and we looked forward to fact that we would be able to drink copious amounts of alcohol for free (and why not!). We paid £89.00 for two night?s dinner, bed and breakfast with drinks also included from 7.30pm ? 10.30pm in one of the three bars in the hotel. When we arrived at 1.30pm we were met in the lobby with a poster telling us that we were unable to check in until 3.30pm, this was our first mishap. The Elgin hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: lovely food and good service from the waiters
Disadvantages: Everthing else about the place

...I have already done a review about Blackpool, and I absolutely love the place, we went to Blackpool two years ago on a family holiday, myself husband and three kids. We booked our holiday through The Belfast Telegraph travel agentsand we went through Ulster Bus tours, the price was £800 approx this included traveling expenses and the hotel.(Bed, breakfast and evening meal). The hotel was the Elgin and we were told that this was a great hotel for families. Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

...has also has an excellent kid's club - my little girl (who's 6) is now on first name terms with the kid's club staff and they remember her (for good reasons I might add). The kids club offers a great range of activities from 10.00 am in the morning right through to 9.00pm at night and its free! The only drawback is that you have to stay in the hotel. The rooms are well appointed too - all have private facilities and some of the family rooms are large (they accomodate a double bed, single bed, cot and a pram with ease and still with room to spare). Situated on the quieter and more select North Promenade (none of the usual Blackpool trappings up here), you're only a 10 minute tram ride from the centre (stopping right outside the hotel) and parking is plentiful and free! Claremont Hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: Lovely staff, great location, Facilities, Cost!
Disadvantages: Ummm...oh, parking.

...didn't do it on holiday!! Location-wise this is a really good hotel. Short walk from bars, clubs and restaurants but you don't hear all the noise and rabble from them when the drunks are finished partying. Well apart from one couple arguing at 4am when they were off their trolley, but they don't count! Literally in front of the hotel is the tram line, where you can get the tram straight to the pleasure beach. I have no idea what tram number or how much it was...couple of quid tops! We walked along to the North Pier and town centre for lunch, gambling, fair rides etc and easily strolled back to the hotel, so the location is definitely a plus side for the hotel - and it is right on the coast so we could walk across the road and onto the beach. ...'t much better than the hotel. It was very run down. There were many hotels and bars closed up and even the odd one burnt down! The weather was very bleak which didn't help! There are lots of places to go with a family in blackpool though including the zoo which is at Stanley Park, the Tower which has the circus and a soft play area, the aquarium, the piers which have rides and amusements on and the usual seaside type places like a little wax works attraction. There are certainly places to go but from what we experienced they all looked very sorry for themselves and worse for wear. I thikn the Pleasure Beach and all it's rides was even looking rather sad. Opinion This hotel needs a good old re-think from the lay out of the carpark to the run down nature of the bathroom. The staff need to act a bit more professional instead...

Advantages: It has 18 wheeler in the arcade!

Which was probably the case. We wanderd off the centre of Blackpool on a tram (which was a considerable journey I can tell you!) and went to the fairground. We had to leave our luggage in a large, 1960s style room. We assumed someone would have locked it, but on our return we simply opened the door and picked up our bags. Nobody challenged us or anything, which was strange considering the room was full of people's stuff. Anyway, we were told that dinner would be served at 18:30. The Grand Metropole Hotel, Blackpool boasts that it is the only hotel in Blackpool located between the sea and Blackpool promenade which is certainly the truth. Our Blackpool Trip

Advantages: Excellent staff - especially at breakfast, reception staff especially Stewart also very helpful and friendly
Disadvantages: Food was basic, parking - got blocked in and could not move our own car!

...Me, my Mum, my Brother and my boyfriend all set off for a family trip to Blackpool. Attracted by the Cliffs facilities for the money we decided on booking it. Well we were extremely happy, I strongly advised entering the basement, kids soft play area, table tennis, arcade games, pool, snooker, swimming pool and gym! You'd never believe it would all fit down there! The rooms were clean, the toilets would have been too small to sit on if I was a few dress sizes bigger!! The food at breakfast was fresh and hot but was limited. The only disappointment is when we found our car blocked in as other guests had not left their keys at reception. It was ridiculous that we wouldn't move our own car!! However the hotel did try it's best and transported us themselves to and from the restaurant we had intended to eat at. Overall great fun...
