...for breakfast; this was eventually resolved but took three trips to reception! The hotel restaurant offers a range of local dishes as well as broader American and international dishes with main courses being very reasonably priced in the mid $20 mark. We also ate a lighter meal in the hotel bar which was very relaxed with good service and the sandwiches and fries we had for under $10 per person were great value and served very quickly when we were hungry! Location and getting there: The hotel was very well located being only a few minutes walk away from many of the major Boston attractions and less than 5 minutes to the harbour (and boat cruises) and the northern quarter. Taxis to and from the airport take less than 15 minutes and cost under 20dollars so I wouldn't even try to economise on this small amount by trying to go by bus...

Christmas In Boston, Stay Here

...Last year for Christmas we decided to use the time off to do something a bit different. We ended up booking a holiday to the USA with two stops in New York and Boston. This review is of the hotel we stayed at in Boston, The Boston Park Plaza. ++++++++++Booking++++++++++ I booked our stay through Expedia www.expedia.co.uk and was paid upfront, I managed to get the hotel for an average rate of £50.10 per night for the three nights, on top of the room rate there is also the dreaded tax which was £7.87 per night. The hotel has it's own web site where you can make a booking and have a look at the facilities etc www.bostonparkplaza.com, although I would recommend going through a broker site as the rates will be a lot cheaper, due to them buying rooms in bulk. ++++++++++Location++++++++++ The park Plaza is located in the Back Bay...

Boston Hilton

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good location

...I like my home comforts when I am travelling abroad, but Mr Tart is quite happy to stay in any old hostel. We were looking for somewhere to stay on a trip to Boston and had decided that a guest house would be a happy medium. However, they weren?t that cheap and when I had a look on Expedia and found a Hilton for less money I couldn?t believe my luck! LOCATION: This Hilton is located in Boston?s Financial District. It is at 89 Broad Street. Despite it being in the Financial District we found it very easy to walk from the hotel to the main tourist sites of the city. Quincy Market and the Old State House were only 10 minutes walk away. PRICES: The price of this particular hotel seems to vary a lot depending on when you stay and who you book through. BOSTON IN DECEMBER

Advantages: Excellent dollar rate, laid back city
Disadvantages: Spent too much shopping and did not get to see the famous New England Fall trees!

We did loose our luggage between Washington and Boston – there was a very tight turn around and we had to clear immigration and recheck our bags in for security reasons on our first point of arrival in the States. Luckily l was forward thinking enough to carry my wash bag, hair bag and so on in my hand luggage so there was no big deal and we got our luggage back in time for morning – no real harm done. We stayed out in Cambridge across the Charles River from Boston City itself – this was very easily accessible from the airport – the T (Boston metro system) took us from the airport changing once directly to the T stop, which happened to be about 2 minutes from the front door of our hotel. I was the Executive Producer of a Documentary Film and I was talking to show it to the Dean of the Fine Arts Department before we "color corrected it". He met me at the Airport but had to wait a long time because know one ever told me that you could not bring a movie into the United States without special papers.   In Boston They Sleep in Their Trousers

Advantages: Historic, culturally diverse and not too huge a city.
Disadvantages: Not many, unless you don't like cities, or America, or fish.

It turned out to be a convoluted ten minute ride to a point just across the Charles River from my hotel. I paid the fare and made my way to the 15th floor of the building which houses the consulate. A castle near Boston???!!!

...My parents and I were meeting some friends who lived near Braintree and we needed somewhere nearby to stay. My parents had stayed in this hotel before and like it so it was an obvious choice for us. LOCATION: The hotel is located in Braintree which is a town just outside of Boston. It is located just off a main highway so is useful for connecting to other areas. You can?t miss the hotel as it designed to look like a castle (or at least the USA version of a castle ? faux medieval is not my favourite look!). It is directly opposite a large mall, which of course I made full use of! It?s not that convenient for Boston and is really more of a business hotel than a tourist one. ...There are many advantages to living in Bermuda, as I do, however the shopping experience is not one of them. Being unable to contemplate life without regular shopping, it was agreed that our move to the island was conditional upon regular trips to the US to indulge my most favourite pastime. Well one of them. I booked the Boston trip a couple of months in advance and as the intention was to make these trips very regular I decided to search for a three star hotel, rather than a four or five star which I generally opt for on holiday. Advantages: Beautiful picturesque, in middle of a lovely market town

...~~ The Boston Stump ~~ We were halfway through our holiday week and decided to take a wonder around Boston town and to visit the 14th century St Botolph's Parish Church the famous Boston Stump. The parish church was first built in 1309 making it nearly 700yrs old, the work on the tower started a century later at around 1425-1430 and was not completed until 1510-1520, so you will notice a slight difference in the architectural design. It is speculated that the name Boston Stump came about because it originally should have donned a spire, but instead it has a 'stump' appearance, but in fact where the name originated from no-one knows. Boston Tea Party

Advantages: 'European' sized rooms can be a bargain
Disadvantages: Easy to fall into the trap of putting expensive drinks on the bill!

...We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding in Boston last year, which provided me with the excuse to book a holiday to the States. My other half hardly put up an excuse either as he's never visited the USA. I love using the net to find great deals on independent travel, so I customised a 10 day holiday which saw us take a hire car up the east coast and into French Canada first, and then hit Boston in time for a pre-wedding party, the big day, and a couple of days sight-seeing afterwoods. I knew things were going to go well when we got a virgin atlantic upgrade because we wouldn't have been able to sit together in economy! It's never happened before, and may never happen again, but that champagne on the upper deck tasted better than I've ever tasted in my life! All the horror stories I'd heard about hours of queues to pass...
