A good, 'Sound' Hotel!!!
Advantages: Central Location.
Disadvantages: Red-light district!
...the city and in a good central location. There is also the Plymouth Registry Office a couple streets away so is well situated for weddings.
The hotel address is :- Millbay Road, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 3LG
Telephone:- (01752) 275850
Fax:- (01752) 275854
Web: www.bestwestern.co.uk/dukeofcornwall

How to find it:- if you are on the M5, follow the road to the right at Halden Hill for the A38 and follow the signs to the Plymouth Pavilions which will take you right past the hotel. I know people say this and it doesn't mean it, but, you can't miss it!!!!

Looe, Millendreath Cornwall !
Advantages: POTENTIAL TO BECOME SANDBANKS, poole
Disadvantages: IGNORING THIS PLACE
...Looe in Cornwall was our destination for our vacation.
It was close by 2100 hrs, and we made our track down the lane towards the local beach, Millendreath.
At first it seemed ok, not overly steep. As we proceeded, I tried to envisage the steepness of this so called descending trek.
I needed to set my mind at rest, so I stopped a passer by; to acquire more Gen on the local beach, Millendreath.
He confirmed what the farmer's wife had told me earlier. Its 2 miles from here, the man answered, but it's very steep nearer the bottom.
We carried on and sure enough it did begin to descend dramatically. It got steeper and steeper and the trees became more and more dense, I felt this could be the spanner in the works.
I began to reflect, I asked myself, will it be capable to see in the dark on our return journey, with this much...

LUGGER HOTEL PORTLOE CORNWALL PRETTY BUT DAMP
Advantages: Beautiful location, good evening meal
Disadvantages: Damp room, unprofessional management, overpriced
...The Lugger Hotel in Portloe is in a truly beautiful location, on the waterfront in a little harbour surrounded by a conservation area in the Roseland Peninsula. There is beautiful walking in either direction out of the hotel with breathtaking coastal scenery.
You approach down small country lanes and a steep road down to the harbour where there is a car park situated behind the hotel. The hotel itself consists of 2 buildings, the first one contains reception, the restaurant, bar, lounge and some rooms upstairs and the second just rooms and a lounge area.
The website is very enticing and claims that The Lugger has been "transformed following a major renovation programme." The communal areas were very tastefully decorated and the seperate lounge area in the block housing rooms was cosy and a nice touch. There were also a number...

Roskilly's Of Cornwall
Advantages: Lovely icecream, drinks, food
Disadvantages: Location.
...1959. Joe Roskilly's children all work on the farm and one makes furniture in an outlet here and one stained glass, Roskillys also employ lots of locals here. They make the icecream on the premises and it is available in Falmouth and other outlets in Cornwall.
To the left of the car park you can walk to the ponds, there are several ponds here with ducks and moorhens, and other wildlife, the walk with the ponds and woods is about one mile long and there are acres of land here. On your way back you pass the pasty parlour and the farm house. The Croust House is next which serves the food and drinks, then next to that is a lovely gift shop which sells a very good range of gifts and old fashioned childrens toys, good range of products and some things are pocket money prices, good range of postcards as well, also next door to the gift...

Sands Family Resort, Porth, Cornwall
Advantages: Children had a brilliant time and we RELAXED!!
Disadvantages: You wont want to go home!
...As we drove up the hill from Porth bay we were filled with a feeling of dread, what was this hotel going to be like??? There arent any pictures in the brochure, so we assumed the worst!! We neednt have worried....Its a lovely looking, prettily decorated "Hacienda" style property..well-maintained and well-positioned. The interior does look a little jaded in parts, and there are some decorative "details" in the childrens areas that you might think are tacky....but they arent for you!!!! Your children will love opening the louvre doors in the walls and finding Mickey Mouse there!!
The rooms are particularly nice, my little boy was thrilled to bits with the 3d boat pictures and the lighthouse wall-light. They are designed as 2 room suites that have a childrens area with 2 cabin style beds (we also had a good quality travel cot, all made...

Cornwall A great Place to Visit
Advantages: Plenty to do and see
Disadvantages: none
...Cornwall- A lovely Place to Visit
Cornwall boast of a very mild climate compared to the rest of Great Britain. It is situated down in the South West of England.
It is also steeped in history and at the time of the Domesday Survey in 1086 the population of Cornwall was around about 25,000 which seems a lot too me.
Cornwall is very busy with tourists in the summer months which is a plus for the employment side of things but it also puts a lot of pressure on the local services such as Hospitals etc. Also the volume of traffic on the roads increases and this causes in time environmental damage.
St Michael's Mount one of my favourite places which I visited a few years ago. This is a granite rock which is situated not very far away from Penzance.
We stayed very near there so we were able to visit by just walking along the beach...

St Ives Cornwall
Advantages: Beautiful, picturesque
Disadvantages: Not too good if weather is not good
...St Ives in Cornwall is the most beautiful place in England, with its winding little roads and stunning views you will fall in love with it the minute you arrive.
It has everything you need from a holiday ( providing the weather is good)
St Ives has many beaches and coves, the main beach being Porthminster, it is huge and flat and in the summer it is heaving with tourists, the gentle slope to the sea is ideal for small children as it does not get too deep too quick. There are lots of facilities including deck chair hire and beach huts. Shops selling ice creams and snacks are also available
The other large beach is Porthmeor, which is primarly a surfing beach, I would not recommend this for small children as it can be quite rough and you will be surprised at how quickly the tide comes in. Teenager love this part of St Ives and there...

Our long weekend in Cornwall
Advantages: Scenery and views are amazing
Disadvantages: No Seafood - I need my cockles!
...Over half term we decided to have a long weekend in Cornwall with our friends. There was eight of us all together four adults and four children my friends mum owns a holiday cottage in Jacobstow near to Bude so we stayed there. We live in Leicestershire so it was a good trek to Cornwall and the traffic was horrific especially around Bristol, in total it took us around six hours to get to our destination.
Jacobstow is a quite a small village with only about 420 people living there. The village is three miles south-west of Week St. Mary, and just inland from the A39 and seven mile from Bude. We didn?t spend much time in the village apart from going back to the cottage in the evening. Although we did have a short walk round and looked at the wonderful church in the centre of the village. There is a nice village pub close by...

A Week In Cornwall
Advantages: Great beaches and views.
Disadvantages: Cannot rely on the weather being good.
...We went to Cornwall for a week in August a few years ago. We stayed in St. Ives in a two bedroom bungalow on a camp site surrounded by woodland and fields. My children loved it there. They could play outside with other children staying there whilst we sat and relaxed.
We drove to our destination. We left at six in the morning and stopped for breakfast onlong our way. Then we drove as long as we could to get there and then stopping a few times for a break. It was a long drive, especially when you have young children in the car and it can get too boring for them. The views on the scenic roads are wonderful to look at so we stopped for ice cream and sat outside eating it and watching the view.
The weather wasn't brilliant, but we still went out every day. The main thing was it didn't rain. We visited Land's End in Penzance on a very...

Looe in Cornwall - An English jewel
Advantages: Friendly, quaint, good shops and food, fishing trips, feels like abroad
Disadvantages: Need a car to drive to the village as public transport in Cornwall is not great!
...Looe in Cornwall is a quaint little village with lots to offer. I discovered it back in 2008 and couldn?t wait to visit it again this year while holidaying in Cornwall.
It is about 40 mins away from Newquay and you could be forgiven for thinking you was abroad when you arrive there.
The whole place is built around a locke which goes out to the sea.
There are plenty of cosey, back-street resturants offering fresh fish caught the same day it is served.
The resturants range from seafood to Italian to good old English comfort food, there is something for everyone.
If you don?t fancy dinner you can grab a drink at one of the local pubs and then afterwards take a stroll along the water front along to the beach and let the world pass you by.
If you get there earlia on in the day you can grab some bargains at one of the many...
