Coventry Hell Hotel
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Horrific Decor, terrible service
...I recently booked the above package for myself and my boyfriend, for 1 night?s stay in May. Not just any random 1 night's stay though - this was the night before we left a grey miserable UK for sunnier climes - Rome to be exact. We were flying from Coventry and as we had to be at the airport at the ungodly hour of 5am and parking at Coventry airport is non-existent, we decided to really push the boat our & book an overnight stay at an airport hotel with a fly/park package.
I booked using Brittannia's online booking facility (http://www.flightparks.com/Default.asp?Page=60) by following the ?Coventry Airport? link. The total cost of our stay, to include 1 night at the hotel, return transfers to Coventry Airport and parking at the hotel during our holiday, was £69.00. Unusually I didn't do too much research into the quality...

Hilton Coventry Hotel
Advantages: Close to main road network & NEC. Very helpful staff
Disadvantages: Not a great deal within walking distance
...An eventful recent (March 2008) visit in order to compile this review, but more about that aspect later.
This hotel is part of the international Hilton chain, and was chosen by my wife and I for a winter/spring weekend break for us along with our 16 month-old little boy. We have stayed at numerous Hilton group hotels previously in the UK and in other parts of the world and have usually been pleased with their standards.
This was a 'last minute' booking, so we had to take what was available, and on initially being offered 'Coventry' we weren't too keen - we had visions of not talking to one another whilst we were there !!
However I can say that we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel.
It was very easy to find, especially with a sat-nav! However without the aid of technology and relying on a good old-fashioned map then it...

Coombe Abbey.. so much more than a hotel
Advantages: Great rooms, great food
Disadvantages: None
...to stay. Worth every penny a truely wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and on the occasions I have stayed my rooms have been marvellous!
The food is to die for, a real treat.
Highly recommended.
My Opinion on the Country Park
Great day especially if the sun is shining! Lovely walks set in lovely grounds.
As I said before you can even have a BBQ in the grounds know if you want to make a family day of it.
Worth a visit.
How to get there
For sat nav purposes the full postal address is:
Coombe Abbey Hotel
Brinklow Road
Binley
Coventry
CV3 2AB
By rail:
The closet railyway stations are: Birmingham, Rugby or Coventry
By air:
Birmingham Airport is the closest airport (not sure how much the taxi fare would be!)...

Coome Abbey Hotel,
Advantages: Beautiful rooms
Disadvantages: None
...I had the wonderful plesure of staying at the Coombe Abbey hotel during a business trip 3 years ago, I was tasked with manning a stand for my employer at a conference at the University of Warwick just outside Coventry and had to stay over night for a few days.
I discovered that my manager had booked this hotel the week before the trip and was a little surprised that he hadnt booked anything closer or more convenient, at the time I was very annoyed as it dawned on me I would have to rely on taxis to get me around during the 3 days I was away for (I dont drive - yet)
The second my taxi pulled up to the gates outside the estate and made its way down the long drive to the hotel I instantly cheered up and realised why my boss had made the booking, this place was stunning and not unlike a small stately home. I later learned from the staff...

Ideal for Coventry City fans (allegedly)
Advantages: Decent room, friendly service
Disadvantages: A bit out from the centre of the city
...guide to dryness and body.
PRICE
The company I paid without breakfast was £55, but I'm not sure what the deals are like.
CONCLUSION
This is a fairly decent business hotel and the proximity of a decent curry house is a big plus.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FLUSH TO STAY HERE
Advantages: Nice hotel, good facilities, reasonable rates, convenient location
Disadvantages: Have to pay for the facilities, possibly not central enough for some
...rate of £42.50 B&B and free parking ? something that continues to become a rare commodity in many hotels.
SETTING & LOCATION
The Royal Court is situated in the Keresley area of Coventry, about 3 miles from this vibrant city. The hotel is set in roughly 11 acres of parkland, with the traditional manor house having restored to its former glory, with modern accommodation tastefully added on. The Royal Court is close to the M42, NEC and Birmingham Airport and motorway network linking North with South, making it the ideal location for onward travel to a variety of locations throughout the UK.
RECEPTION
Reception is a very grand affair, reminiscent of the splendour more often associated with the more up-market Spanish hotels. The hotel has a number of grand conference rooms (accommodating about 600 people in total) and offers...

The worst hotel in the UK? Possibly.
Advantages: A bed and a roof.
Disadvantages: Where do I start?
...degrees sun, carrying our heavy bags, so walked straight up to the next place with a vacancy sign. This was the private Tyrella hotel, a three storey Georgian white house, 5 minutes from the beach. The basement was an Indian restaurant which looked quite trendy.
After ringing the bell several times, we were greeted by an unenthusiastic man with no shoes on who carried a distinctive whiff of curry and sweat about him. Several small children scurried at his feet. He appeared to have a very poor grasp of the English language and the displayed prices mysteriously increased.
Any normal person would have major alarm bells ringing by now and would have politely declined, but who said we were normal, and besides, we were desperate.
So up we went to view our room, which he told us was "family room. Very nice. See sea". On going up the stairs...

The UK's '4th coolest boutique hotel'
Advantages: Cental location, friendly service, individualistic
Disadvantages: A little cramped, grubby carpets, a little inflexible on breakfast times
...I travel a lot with work and it's a trifle sad but I have become blasé regarding the same luxury hotel chains-Renaissance, Holiday Inn, Hilton etc
It was nice to stay at a boutique hotel for once-and one right slap bang in the middle of Newcastle city centre. Prestige Events Magazine voted it the 4th coolest boutique hotel in the UK last year. The Lowry in Manchester (I love it) was number 10. It's a cute little hotel with a mere 49 bedrooms. I'm not sure why we stay here rather than one of the hotel chains but I am not complaining! Apparently it used to be a bank. It's also Newcastle's first pet friendly hotel. I travelled with my dear deceased little dog in the past and we both enjoyed dog friendly hotels.
First impressions:
You could almost miss the hotel, as it's very discreet. And small! As soon as you walk through the door...

You won't have a problem getting up here
Advantages: Nice rooms, good rates (even rack), good service, convenient location
Disadvantages: Food could be better, no leisure facilities, out of town
...Yesterday was destination Coventry for a conference at the Science Park near Warwick University.
Having lived in the city for a number of years, I know most of its nooks and crannies, and since I moved away, I have managed to familiarise myself with a number of its hotels, including two in the Britannia Chain, one of which is the Royal Court, with its plush leisure suite and expensive restaurant, it doesn?t typically fall into the budget chain, and the Britannia Hotel, dead in the centre of town, convenient, nice big rooms, low rates but sadly no parking, and travelling alone in sub zero temperatures, I really didn?t fancy trailing across the city streets with suitcase and laptop in tow. Plus, the following morning I needed to be at the Science Park and didn?t fancy battling the rush hour ring road (anyone who knows this city will...

Coventry.We're Sky Blue!
Advantages: Tons of history & cool places to visit!
Disadvantages: It's SERIOUSLY Urban!
...the club doesn't own. That's if its footy season and their not hosting a pop concert (We've had Jon Bon Jovi & Rod Stewart there!) or a convention there.
Yep, their now nicking business from The NEC. Or you could go see something at the Warwick Arts Centre (very confusing name, but its in Coventry. It totally confused The League Of Gentlemen who got the shit booed out of them for thinking they were in Warwick a few years ago during their live UK tour), they host live music, plays and comedy.
We're the town that brought you 2-Tone & Terry Hall can strongly deny Ghost Town wasn't written about Coventry all he likes but "Friday Night, Saturday Morning" & "Stereotypes" both certainly were. You can still visit the Locarno he sings about but its Coventry's Central Library now.
We also gave you 80's punk singer Hazel O'Conner and the vocalist...
