The Swan Hotel - Newby Bridge, Cumbria
Advantages: Very tranquil, pretty setting and beautiful hotel
Disadvantages: Car park is about 500 yards from entrance - when it rains you get very wet!
...My partner and I stayed at The Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge last weekend and i felt compelled to share our experience with others...
The hotel is located at the Southern tip of Lake Windermere and overlooks the River Leven. It is in an absolutely beautiful setting, is accessed via a small bridge and is set right back from the main road.
I think in total it has 55 bedrooms, some of which are suites - but we opted for a standard double during our stay.
We were in room 313 and this had a river view - as do all the odd numbered rooms i think. The room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfy (although very soft). The bathroom was perfectly pleasant, although decorated in a slightly 'old fashioned' way. You get a few select Sky Channels in the rooms and also broadband is available. The minibars are well stocked but, as...

Nent Hall Hotel Alston Cumbria
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Poor staffing, Restaurant not always open
...I have recently returned from a 3 day stay at the Nent Hotel. The room was lacking a cup and had no towels but was generally in good order. There was no information pack regarding meal times and hotel arrangements etc. The restaurant was pleasant, apart from piped music (6 awful crooner tracks repeated) and the menu was short and rather over priced. Returning from a Sunday's touring at 11.10 p.m. I was amazed to find the place locked up and all staff gone home! After ten minutes hammering on doors I was let in by a fellow guest. This is quite un-acceptable. A neighbour across the road with in structions to 'keep an eye on the place' came across and found my room key. Incidentally, the restaurant was closed for the next two days, residents having to eat in the bar.The place is badly in need of more staff and in my opinion should not be...

Arts based courses in deepest darkest Cumbria
Advantages: Small, friendly, relatively inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Does not offer a stereotypical "student lifestyle"
...Upon arriving at the main campus (the Fine Art department has a seperate, small campus) you will be struck by it's small size, but suprisingly modern design. A modern building, surrounded by trees and set above and just outside the city centre.
The Institute offers a variety of Arts based degree courses, from Fine Art and Media Production to Journalism (full course details can be found at http://www.cumbria.ac.uk) and it also teaches a variety of post-16 educational courses such as ND's and A Levels, all in subjects related to the arts. All the course tutors and professionals in their own subject, but I will not go into too much detail about the courses as they are all so different, however I will say that most of them are practical in nature and all have specialist facilities within the campus.
The campus has good facilities, all...

Hotel International
Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms
...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Alma's Country Retreat
Advantages: Wonderful setting for a short break
Disadvantages: none
...A little while ago now, my husband and I decided we needed a weekend away, from the stresses of everyday living. So he found Armathwaite Hall Hotel, using the AA Website, and we booked in for a few nights.
The hotel is a Four Star establishment.
The Hotel is set in the heart of Cumbria, not far form Keswick, and overlooks a lake called Bassenthwaite Lake. The surroundings are superb. There are extensive grounds to walk around, tennis courts, woodlands walks, gardens, everything for a relaxing weekend. We even saw an albino pea-hen in the grounds, and there were plenty of peacocks out for their Sunday stroll. The gardens are a haven for animals and birds.
The hotel can organise activities such as clay pigeon shooting, which we enjoy, or fishing. There is also an animal park close by.
The village of Keswick is within...

hotel olsanka
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not so easy to access the town centre of prague.
...hotel olsanka prague
Having been to prague recently and having stayed at this particular accomodation a few years ago, I was keen to give this place one final chance as I had had a really rubbish stay at this place. Similarly to my previous stay, I had notice that the Hotel seems to be advertised much cheaper on accomodation websites compared to near enough all other places to stay in prague.
getting to the accomodation
The details of getting to prague town centre are covered in my previous prague accomodation review, and whilst this accomodation is not as easy to get to location wise, a tram journey needed to get the accomodation from one of the central location's of prague town centre.
booking process
I booked this accomodation using a third party reservation booking website and paid around seventy euros...

Comfortable Former Baronial Hall
Advantages: Very quiet, excellent service, good food
Disadvantages: A bit off the beaten track
...Situated just a few miles from Junction 42 of the M6 and just a couple of miles south west of Carlisle Dalston Hall is well situated for business in the Carlisle area and as a pleasant stop if travelling further North.
The Hotel is a former 15th Century mansion with extensive grounds and gardens. The Hall has a substantial history and was used by Generals laying siege to Carlisle during the Jacobite Rebellion. Inside the hotel many original features remain including a superb banqueting hall complete with minstrels gallery above. There is no doubt this hotel would make an excellent venue for a wedding or similar celebration. It would provide some excellent places for formal photographs both inside the hall and outside in the gardens.
As a hotel it has about 20 bedrooms all of which seem quite comfortable though not exactly spacious...

sachas hotel
Advantages: good price,great location
Disadvantages: no window
...****Sachas hotel- Manchester****
I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre.
**Location/Getting there**
This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station. The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places. You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car.
**Reception/staff**
Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out. When i got there i think i got the same...

Fantastic Hotel
Advantages: Fantastic Food
Disadvantages: Lifts are quite small
...When we decided to make a return trip to Benalmedina we opted to go to the four star Hotel Las Arenas as it was recommended by friends. It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located.
Reception
On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access. There is a large board telling you about entertainment available during the day and at night. The whole area was laid out for wheelchair access...

The Perfect Boutique Hotel
Advantages: Fabulous decor; impeccable customer service;
Disadvantages: I had to leave!
...Last week my boyfriend turned 26 and I wanted to surprise him and take him away somewhere swanky for a short break. We both work very hard and long hours so I was after somewhere where we could relax and switch off from everything for a couple of days and just feel a bit pampered. After lots of research, Dublin seemed like the ideal place and after checking out some reviews on tripadvisor, The Dylan hotel looked like the perfect choice, being rated the 2nd best hotel in the city.
The Dylan is a 5 star boutique hotel based slightly outside of Dublin's main centre in a 19th-century townhouse that used to house the nurses of the nearby hospital. It's located on the South side of town by the canal in a quiet side street in a residential part of town, so you're unlikely to be bothered by any noise, but is a quick and very straightforward...
