Relax at the Renaissance Hamburg Hotel
Advantages: Great location and friendly welcome
Disadvantages: None
...The Renaissance Hamburg Hotel is part of the worldwide Marriott chain and offers the excellent accommodations that you would expect from Marriott but with the flair that you would normally expect from the Renaissance team. As with other properties in this brand hotels are branded by Renaissance but owned and managed locally adding real local colour to the hotel.
Booking:
Book via the Marriott website, and they guarantee that you will get their cheapest rates (the best rate is usually from 110 euros (approx £60.00) per night) for a twin/double room. Many rates are available and most options come with or without breakfast.
There are single rooms and double rooms (i.e. 1 king bed or two doubles) that would accommodate 2 or 4 respectively. In addition, the corner Junior Suites offer additional space and more often than not...

HAMBURG MARRIOTT HOTEL
Advantages: Lovely hotel, excellent rooms and service
Disadvantages: None really!
...~~~HAMBURG MARRIOTT HOTEL~~~
As well as having stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Hamburg several times, I have also stayed at the Renaissance sister hotel, the Marriott, located on ABC Strasse in the exclusive shopping and dining part of the city of Hamburg. The hotel is well located and transfer time from the airport (Hamburg) is under 20 minutes or so with taxi fares also being under 20Euros (£13-£15). Just outside o f the hotel you will find a glittering array of upmarket shops and small boutiques and the hotel is located in a very quiet area and all of the rooms are exceptionally quiet.
Arriving at the hotel:
As you enter the hotel, the lobby is sumptuous and well-kept, and there are always plenty of bellhops to help with your bags. Check-in is always smooth and painless, and there is a good selection of local interest...

Yoho Ho(tel) - Where Santa stays in Hamburg?
Advantages: Something a bit different from your regular German city hotels
Disadvantages: Limited choice in the restaurant
...Yoho is the abbreviation for the 'Youth Hotel' and it's located in Hamburg. I'll admit that when I was told to book it for a visit earlier this week, I did worry that it might be like a youth hostel. Perhaps before I checked out in the morning they would make me clean my room or wash the dishes. Fortunately neither was the case, and despite the strange name, I found a rather charming modern hotel located in a nice old historic building. The main criteria by which they justify the name is that they offer slightly lower prices for guests who are under 26. Sadly nothing I can benefit from any more. It's not - so far as I can tell - in any way linked with the Yo! Sushi brand so that may be a relief to some and a disappointment to others.
My Visit
I went to the hotel with two colleagues from our Bremen office and we arrived quite...

Brilliant for a weekend getaway to Hamburg
Advantages: Helpful staff, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: The artist designed room seemed a little dark
...I lived in Hamburg for a few months in 2006 and so I was keen to take my family there for a weekend when the Christmas market was there. After looking at various hotels we decided to stay in the Best Western St Raphael.
Location:
The hotel is only a few minutes away from the main train station (and U-bahn stops - Hauptbahnhof Nord and Hauptbahnhof Sued) and also the bus station so if you fly into Luebeck then you're only a few minutes from your bus to or from the airport which is especially handy as the flights often arrive or depart early or late at night.
The Alster and town centre are only a walk away too!
Rooms:
The rooms vary in terms of style and size. We booked two rooms and one seemed to have been decorated by a local artist. We were very impressed by the rooms, even down to the radio in the bathroom!
Facilities:
We used...

Wunderbar Hamburg Germany
Advantages: Great lively city; great sights!!
Disadvantages: None really!
...of accommodation that ranges from youth hostels and budget hotels to luxury chains. I would definitely try and stay as close to the centre of Hamburg as you can do where you will find great value hotels from chains such as SAS, Marriott and Renaissance.
I normally stay at the Marriott or Renaissance hotels and you can pick up an internet deal for around £60 for a double room which is great value and both hotels are located right in the heart of city, less than five minutes walk from Jungfernstieg and the Alster.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What to do:
Here are a few of my favourite things to do in Hamburg:
Take a walk around the inner Alster Lake. If it is sunny enjoy an ice cream, from a vendor and if not try to get a window table at the Alstertor Cafe. After that go on an hour long cruise along the Alster and soak up the atmosphere and see...
Where I First Came Out Of The Closet
Advantages: Good location, amazing breakfast, nice, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: Not a super-dooper extra special place considering its stars
...We went to Hamburg earlier this month for a bit of sightseeing and a lot of Christmas shopping. Since the flights were so cheap (barely a fiver before tax) we decided to semi-splurge on a hotel, and ended up at the Radisson. First impressions were good ? we got in a cab and the driver knew where it was from the name, no address needed. We took the escalator up from the taxi rank to the glistening first floor lobby and immediately realised we were in Germany ? the place was full of elegantly dressed business and not so business people, all puffing away on their 6 cent cigarettes. But when we checked in (easily and quickly thanks to prebooking with expedia) and received our keys, it became apparent that we were on a no smoking floor, so things were looking up. So were we as we made our way to the lifts, in a vestibule adorned...
Hamburg, Germany: great destination!
Advantages: Tons to do and see!
Disadvantages: None really!
...has agreat open air swimming pool that is mainly used only by local Hamburgers so a great way to feel as though you belong in Hamburg. It takes about 40 minutes form the city centre using the green S1 line direction Wedel.
4) The open top tour buses are a great way to see Hamburg and get a real feel for the place and depart frequently outside the Rathaus. You take in all the famous local sights such as the Rathaus, St. Pauli, Altona train, Reeperbahn (red light district...) etc. The 1 hour trip costs approx. 13 Euros.
Most hotels have a great range of leaflets about things to do in Hamburg and hotel staff are always helpful: the opera is very popular here as are musicals (currently showing is the Lion King and Mamma Mia!!)
Where to stay?
There are some great hotels in Hamburg but my favourites are the Renaissance...
The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...
Hotel International
Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms
...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
HAMBURGER UNION GARRICK STREET LONDON
Advantages: FAST EFFICIENT SERVICE AND GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS
Disadvantages: WOULD PREFER SEATING WITH BACKS RATHER THAN STOOLS
...Whilst on a short break in London last week my family and I were looking for somewhere to eat in the West end and came across HAMBURGER UNION in Garrick Street, Covent Garden. None of us are great fans of burger "joints" but decided that we would give it a try, as from the outside it looked modern and clean and although busy not bursting at the seams as some place are up there. Also it was great to go somewhere "non smoking".
On entering it reminded us of restaurants in America, as ,you order everything (food and drinks) at the counter, pay and then proceed into the main eating area and place your order number on the table for the server to see.
The seating area was clean and the seating was mainly stool type and tables were of varying sizes so if you were on a long table you could end up with other people. It was bright...
