...I stayed at the Sheraton Skyline hotel near Heathrow airport in September 2007 before I flew out on my annual holiday. I booked this hotel because according to their website, it is literally on the doorstep of Heathrow Airport. Room Our room was located on the 10th floor but sadly the room overlooked the hotel car park but to be honest this wasn?t a problem because we weren't staying here for the view! Our room was very large, much bigger than I expected for the price I paid. The bed was extremely large, probably about 6 feet wide and very comfortable. It certainly left us both feeling like we had a decent nights sleep. The room also had two wardrobes, an office desk and chair and a lamp on either bed side table. There was also a fully stocked mini bar but to be honest the prices were so extortionate that we didn?t even bother...

Sky high prices for the Skyline hotel

Advantages: Great location, beautiful rooms, huge beds
Disadvantages: Very expensive food and drinks, car parking was £12 a night!

...My boyfriend and I stayed at the Sheraton Skyline hotel on 2nd October this year. I booked the hotel through priceline.co.uk and got the room for £51 including taxes, which I though was quite reasonable for a 4 star hotel. Location We found the Sheraton Skyline fairly easy to find. The hotel website allows you to print off a map and this made it quite easy to find the hotel if it wasn't for my boyfriend taking a few wrong turns! The hotel is on a large road that is absolutely heaving with hotels. Literally the whole road consists of hotels, some very large and impressive ones such as the Marriott. ...I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in November 2008 before I flew out on holiday from Heathrow. On arriving at the hotel it was a bit chaotic as the lobby seemed to be full of people leaving for the airport but there wasn't enough porters or luggage trolleys to go around, at one point a fight nearly broke out over the last trolley! After standing and watching with ammusment for 5 minutes we reached the front of the queue for reception and were checked in quickly and efficiently by a friendly receptionist. We then made our way back across the crowded lobby and into the lift (complete with mood lighting). We had a room on the second floor with a view of the airport. ...I've stayed at this hotel as I attended an event held in the conference centre. Parking was difficult, mainly because this hotel offers a park and stay facility for Heathrow Airport and after driving around each area of the car park we ended up parking at the side of the exit road. It was good job that we stayed on site for the time we were there as I wouldn't have fancied my chances at parking up again if we left and came back. When we checked in we were told that a pre-authorisation charge would be put on the account until we checked out. This is fair enough, obviously they don't want people charging items to their room and not paying, but our pre-authorisation charge was £400 - nearly three times what our total bill would be. Rather than travelling in to central london I decided to look for a hotel located close to the airport but also as cost effective as possible. ...Isn't it so true? Everybody follows one passenger - the first off the plane - when they arrive at Heathrow. And if this person goes the wrong way, you're all stuffed! The problem is, Heathrow is huge. There are people everywhere, with confusing corridoors and passageways. That combined with the ridiculous signage, it's impossible to find your way around! Being the busiest airport in the world, you can imagine Heathrow must be huge. Well, check-in can take ages - up to two hours for longhaul and half an hour for shorthaul. Once you've cleared check-in's miserable staff, then it's off to pasport control and then departures. Here, you may want to go to one of the restaurants, or maybe you've paid to fly business class... If you're going to a lounge (Iberia, Lufthansa and Air France in terminal 2), then make yourself comfortable...

THE JEWELS IN THE CROWNES GET BIGGER AND BETTER!

...There are lots of hotels to choose from in and around London Heathrow, so you may well ask why I elected to stay at the Crowne Plaza, which is off the main drag known as Bath Road, and certainly not the cheapest if my recent visit to the Marriott is anything to go by. A friend was meant to be passing through London on his way back to the States the same night as I was anticipating an early morning flight to Madrid to visit my sister in law, and he was staying here.
