...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. Hotel Palma Real, varadero, Cuba

Advantages: All round good pick for those wanting Caribbean on a budget. Great beach!
Disadvantages: Probably not quite up to 5* standards like some other hotels, but we didn't mind!

...I stayed at Hotel Palma Real, Varadero, Cuba in September 2005 with a friend. We both had a fantastic holiday. I would rate this as a 3/4 star hotel, as it is typically at the lower end of the pricing for holidays to Varadero. However, don't let this put you off this merely makes it even more value for money! Location# The hotel is situated approximately 150 metres from the beach. Literally cross the road and you are there. Facilities on the beach include sunloungers, parasols, snack bar serving food and drinks, watersports, dance classes. The beach itself is beautiful and is around 20 miles long so you can walk as far as you like. We didn't find a problem with the beach being across the road, if anything it made us explore a little more than if we had been staying at hotel that was on the beach itself. Hotel Facilities...

Review of Hotel Palma Real

Is it a Hotel? yes! Is it the Can pastilla? No!

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Intermittent hot water, ants! Quiet! very small rooms.

...than I had taken with me and I left mine to be added to the library at the end of the week. The location is a huge advantage, 70 metres from a quiet, beautiful white sandy beach leading into warm clear waters that had very small waves, the sea here is safe for children as the beach shelves very little, in fact I had to wade out a long way to get deep enough to swim but it really was lovely. The area is flat and so wonderful for walking or cycling, you can hire bicycles, tandems or those things that four people ride around on locally, you can take a bus or taxi into Palma itself or you can hire a car and explore the beautiful island of Majorca, we have done all of those in the past so didn't this time. The taxi rank is just a few minutes walk away or the hotel staff on duty will phone for a taxi if asked. I don't recommend this though...

Tabourente playa la palma. lovely hotel..... thats about it!

Advantages: incredibly clean, lots of room for guests, good VFM
Disadvantages: not alot to do

...Myself and my partner have just returned from a week in the H10 Tabourente playa and thought that the hotel itself was brilliant, one of the best hotels ive stayed in. the only thing that let the holiday down is the lack of activities. We booked the holiday through Thompson back in April and got a very good deal for a 4* hotel. when we arrived we had a 5minute transfer to the hotel (you can see the airport from most of the hotel rooms), reception were a bit slow in booking everyone in but the reception staff seemed very friendly and spoke excellent english. The room itself was on the 4th floor so had good views of the pool area, a partial sea view and full view of the airport (which is ok as there are about 4 flights a day, last leaving about 9pm so minimal disruption). The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels for us, nice size...

Advantages: Lots to see, interesting sites mixed in with shopping, so you get both
Disadvantages: Easy to get lost in Arab Quarter

...Palma on the Island of Majorca is a great place for shopping and doing a bit of sight seeing. We were staying in Palma Nova and being past the age when drinking all day in pubs and clubs, then flaking out on the beach seems a good way to spend a holiday, decided to find some 'civilized' life for a change. There are buses from all round the Island into Palma. The City itself is big. Everything is so spread out in the modern part and we found ourselves walking a long way to find major department stores and designer shops on the main road. However, we eventually found a wonderful shopping area in the old Arab Quarter of the City. This area is a maze of alleyways and small shops of all kinds. There are designer shops selling everything from shoes to hair accessories and woolly jumpers to delicate lingerie. It is very easy to get...

Voranova Apartments Palma Nova

Advantages: Dirty, old, only cleaned once a week
Disadvantages: The pool

...The Voranova hotel was about half an hour from the airport and cost about 25euros, split between two, so wasn't too bad as the hotel transfer coach you could also book cost as much together and took about 2 hours stopping at every hotel that existed! The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes walking distance from Palma Nova town centre and the beach. It was also about 10-15minutes walk to the centre of Magaluf. We got a bus to Palma City one day and this took about 45 minutes and was very crowded. Just across the road from the hotel was a large supermarket and several shops including a pharmacy, there was also a taxi rank and bus stop. A hotel with no air conditioning in the rooms

Advantages: clean friendly great entertinement superb pool
Disadvantages: No Air conditioning (can you believe it ? )

...spots here - but there are plenty of shaded areas on the grassy areas POOL - Open 8am to 8pm - then it was closed for cleaning. There is a separate pool for younger childen, and a huge odd shaped main pool. There was also a jacuzzi attached and a seat for disabled people to enter the pool. There were many ladder steps around the pool to enter it from the sides and also two sets of steps one on each side that you walk down gradually into the pool BEACH - the local one Cala Mayor. It is a 15 min walk away. It is a far walk for some as it is a hilly main road down to it (with no pavement so walk carefully and watch the traffic) However the number 46 bus takes you from the beach back up to the hotel as the bus stop is right outside the hotel ( remember to get it in right direction though ! ) PALMA TOWN - nearest big town ! A great hotel for those on a budget

Advantages: Quality Budget Accomodation, Air Conditioning, Close to beach
Disadvantages: Basic rooms, food can be the same each night

...I am of the belief that most people who go on holiday to Majorca, are looking for a cheap/budget summer holiday. So the cheaper the accomodation the better, the Don Bigote hotel definately falls into the category. The surprising point is that what you get for your money is worth EVERY euro. The hotel is situated about 100 metres back from one of the main beaches in Palma Nova. It is placed well back from the pubs/clubs so noise levels are not a problem at night-time. The rooms are very basically laid out but all of them have Air conditioning, a godsend in the heat of summer, we booked a twin room, which comes with 2 beds, cupboard, dresser, bathroom with bath with shower over, bidet, toilet & sink. Each room also has its own balcony, if you're lucky you'll get one overlooking the pool, which gives a bit of a nicer view...

A little Gem!

Advantages: Location and facilities

...A very odd looking building designed by Dr. D. Guillermo Forteza and built in 2000. It is situated behind the front row of hotels on the marina. It is 8km from Son St Joan airport, 1km from the city and 100m from the nearest bus stop. It takes two minutes to walk down to the marina and about 15 minutes to get to the old town. If you do not fancy the walk, reception will call you a taxi and it only costs about 4 Euros to travel into the town. Lobby This is inviting, with large red sofas and an oak panelled bar, leading to a small reception desk. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful a most welcoming start. The room This was amazing, we had booked a triple room so I expected three beds in an ordinary room?????..No we got a suite!!! Yeah. ?Grumpy?s? bed was in the living area, containing a sofa, TV, sideboard...

PALMA NOVA PARADISE

Advantages: short flight from uk, fabulous island, heaps to do,gorgeous scenery, spotlessly clean
Disadvantages: can't think of any!

...We went to Palma Nova in September/October 2005 for 15 days and had the most fabulous holiday. This was the first time we'd been to Palma Nova so didn't know what to expect but we were more than happy with our choice of resorts. Our trip started at Glasgow Airport and we arrived in Palma 2 hours and 20 minutes later. We arrived at 7-30pm and after the long walk through the airport to collect our luggage, we got a taxi to our accommodation. This took around 40 minutes and cost us 34 euros (we later, on our return taxi to airport realised that we'd been taken the long route as the return journey took around 30 mins and cost us 22 euros!). Our accommodation was rented privately through a friend who owns an appartment so we were able to save on accommodation costs. We used the bus service a lot. Regular buses go all over the island...
