A Great Hotel

Advantages: Easy to find, great base for sightseeing
Disadvantages: None really

...Just back from 3 nights stay in this hotel. Firstly, it was very easy to find you can actually see it from the A9 so whether you care arriving from the North or the South it is just minutes from the slip road off of the A9 taking you into Inverness. The hotel has its own large car park, which is free. My first impression from the outside was that it looks a bit run down. The outside probably needs a lick of paint and is a bit dated but once inside I was pleasantly suprised. You enter into a large reception area, to the right of you there is the large restaurant and to the left is the large bar. The reception was very well kept, clean and welcoming and 100% to the reception staff would could not have been friendlier. Booking in took only a few minutes and was very easy. The lifts to all floors were situated directly across...

Inverness stay at Maple Court Hotel

Advantages: good view and food
Disadvantages: none

...We stayed at the Maple Court for two nights at the end of October The location was fantastic - a nice 5-10 minute walk from downtown Inverness, along the river Ness. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance The room is large, and very clean. The furnishings are a bit cheap, and the bed is just okay. Sheets and towels were clean and average. The bathroom was very clean. The staff were great, and the morning breakfast was great. The chef will make you whatever you\'d like for breakfast. The food was wonderful with brilliant portions. Everything was fresh and prepared beautifully. The bacon and egg scrambles and salmon crepes were terrific. Gardens and river setting is just out of this world. I would stay there again....

Maple Court Hotel, Inverness

Advantages: Close to town and sports grounds
Disadvantages: poor rooms , loud music

...We stayed at the hotel for a three night period and found the hotel to be adequate and value for money. Location is good for walking into the town and the nearby sports stadium. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful. We were running the Loch Ness Marathon and they kindly helped out with an early morning breakfast tray which had everything we needed. The cooked breakfast was very good indeed. Our only gripe during our stay was with the loud amplified music played during the Saturday night. This went on until 0038. Whilst we have nothing against party venues the amplification of the music was just too high for the building. Some thought maybe for the guests staying in the hotel and booking future functions. The room we stayed in may need some maintainance work. The hand basin was cracked, the bath didn't hold water due...

Luxurious Inverness

Advantages: Beautiful Hotel, Fantastic View
Disadvantages: Very Expensive, Location

...The Culloden House Hotel is located just outside Inverness near Culloden Battlefield. We spent a night in the hotel at the end of September. We stayed in one of the Junior Garden Suites. The suite was gorgeous and had two rooms; both the bedroom and the lounge had beautiful views of the grounds. The rooms were large and bright with tasteful decor. The bathroom was enormous and beautifully done in marble. I usually have trouble with hotel beds, but our bed was not too soft and extremely comfortable! I didn't want to leave! The staff is polite, accommodating and very helpful. Unfortunately, since the stay was so short we didn't get the chance to eat in the restaurant - which by all accounts is worth a trip up to Inverness in itself! Therefore, I cannot honestly rate the food as excellent as I didn't try it. The only...

The place to stay when visiting Inverness.

Advantages: Fantastic standard in both the rooms and the restaurant.
Disadvantages: Lack of leisure facilities.

...When my wife was offered a job in Inverness the company offered the whole family a weekend trip for the second interview. So my wife, 8 month daughter and I drove from just outside Edinburgh up to Inverness. When approaching Inverness from the South, on the A9 the hotel is perfectly signposted and cannot be missed. As you drive into the car park you would be forgiven for thinking that the hotel itself does not look anything special. Trust me when I say that it is the outside, and outside of the building only, that will make you think this. We had booked over the phone and when we went to check in something had gone wrong and there was no record of our booking, the start of a bad experience you might think. No, the staff dealt with it, without any fuss or hassle. Another room was booked, we sat and waited in the beautiful...

The Columba Hotel

Advantages: modern interior, nearby parking.good food ,its in heart of Inverness
Disadvantages: Nearby roads are loud and busy

...The Columba Hotel, with its modern interior, is located on the banks of the River Ness facing Inverness Castle. It features 70 odd guest rooms, over four floors, with contemporary, dark wood furniture. All include satellite television, direct dial telephones, wireless Internet access, clock radios and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms have hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. The hotel"s Carvery Restaurant serves a wide selection of dishes using fine, local ingredients, and you can also enjoy a coffee or light snack at MacNabb"s Bistro, or sample one of its selection of more than 100 malt whiskies. The front desk is open 24 hours, and staff can provide safe deposit boxes and arrange childcare, and laundry and dry cleaning. you can catch up on the news with complimentary newspapers in the lobby, order snacks and drinks from the room...

Inverness as a place to visit

Advantages: Plenty activities, good nightlife at weekends, safe, scenic,
Disadvantages: weekday evening entertainment can be a bit poor,

...&b's, hotels, travel inns/lodges, hostels, guest houses etc but a lot of the time especially in the summer they are displaying no vacancies boards, i have found also that the price can vary so much it is definately worth shopping around the local travel inns/lodges you can expect to pay around £60-70 per night for per room but hotels, b&b's, guesthouses and the like vary a lot. Its worthwhile checking out a few hotels and obtaining qoutes as some offer family or twin rooms for as little as £30 per night depending on how full up they are. i have seen 4* hotels being cheaper than a 2* B&B for the same night yet the hotel offers far more like swimming pool and leisure centre etc. Inverness has a very relaxed feel about it and offers a slow pace of life compared to the bigger cities. Well worth a visit even for a long weekend. The weather is...

WYVIS FOR WEDDINGS

Advantages: Majestic exterior, great food.
Disadvantages: A bit compact. A bit scruffy in rooms.

...First things first. Why was I there? My brother was finally getting married at the grand old age of 32 and this was the chosen location for both the ceremony and the reception. The Ben Wyvis Hotel is in the lovely old Highland spa village of Strathpeffer which is about 20 miles north of Inverness. It is affiliated to the Crerar Hotels Group and has been awarded a three-star rating (ie very good quality). Unlike England's Crown system, the Scottish and Welsh Tourist Boards award one to five stars with four and five being excellent and exceptional respectively. Six weeks before the big day, I was passing the hotel on the way to another destination so popped in to book rooms. You turn off the main A834 road, which passes through the town, between stone pillars and up the winding drive to the hotel with its very impressive grey...

Pizza Hut, Inverness

Advantages: Very good value
Disadvantages: Poor service

...There are a few pizza places in Inverness but this is the only one that I take my 5-year old son into as the selection for kids is far better than the others. When you enter Pizza Hut you normally have to wait for a moment to be shown to a seat and then you are left for a few minutes to decide what you want. The selection on the menu is fab - a wide range of starters and pizzas and, if you don't want pizzas, there are pasta dishes. Pizza come in deep pan or traditional and you can get ones to share as well as individual ones. There are also various toppings that you can have, as well as side dishes. Kids menu is good - not just pizzas on it, my son absolutely loves the chicken goujons and potato wedges. There are also a wide selection of drinks, sweets and the ice cream factory. What I love about Pizza Hut is that...

What's the story In..verness

Advantages: Shops and scenery
Disadvantages: Need a car to get to most scenic places

...I have lived in Inverness all my life and I don't think I would live anywhere else. Years ago Inverness was probably a remote place and in the wilderness a bit. Nowadays it's different. There are over 60,000 people living here, and it has been classed as one of the fastest growing places in Britain. There are good rail, bus and plane networks. The airport is small but there are daily flights to and from London, Birmingham and other British cities, as well as flights going to and from some foreign countries. In Inverness itself there are many restaurants - one of which was featured on a Gordon Ramsay show last year. There are a variety of restaurants here - Italian, Chinese, Indian, as well as British food. There are also a number of hotels. There are a wide range of shops in Inverness - when I was young the nearest M&S was...
