MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Advantages: 4/5 star, great price, good gambling and atmosphere
Disadvantages: The Lion enclosure

...My husband and I have just gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas and chose the MGM hotel to stay at so this forms my review. The MGM is located right on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) right by Tropicana Avenue so fairly near one end of the strip. It is located close to the New York New York hotel and there is actually a walkway which joins the two hotels to give you easy access to both. The hotel in its present form was opened at the end of 1993. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have a certain them that they like to promote through each of their casinos such at NY NY, Paris, The Venetian etc. The MGM in my opinion is not as heavily themed as the other hotels but follows along the lines of old Hollywood/California movies stars etc with the feature of the MGM lion and movie star photos in the bedrooms. Sahara Hotel and Casino of Las Vegas

Advantages: Located at the border line of the Strip and downtown
Disadvantages: N/A

...Sahara Hotel and Casino , located 2535 Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 This Hotel is one of the oldest Hotels in town , must be at least 47 years old. Until abuot 5 years ago, it was pretty neglagted. The rooms and the service wasn't so great or in other words it was real bad. The walls had paint chips all over , it wasn't too clean either. 5 years ago new ownership took over, they invested few Million Dollars, to fix it and make it look real good. They added a NasCar Arcade with a Restairant, Roller coaster for the kids, night club who hosted some good entairteners. They fixed the show room and had some reaal great shows such as: Clint Carlini was of the best Elvis empesenator in the world. Debbie Ranoylds, Susanne Barr and more and more. MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

Advantages: Everything you could want under one (massive) roof
Disadvantages: Located at the southern end of "The Strip" - so a bit of a walk to some attractions...

  A Superb Gamble in Vegas! The Paris Hotel!

Advantages: Something new to explore..you can be in Paris and Las Vegas at the same time!

Fabulous exclusive hotel in Las Vegas!

Advantages: Tranquil and exclusive hotel
Disadvantages: Rooms overlooking the airport could be noisy

...This has got to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. We went here in July 2005, which was a reward trip paid for by my company. The Four Seasons Las Vegas is situated on the top four floors (35th to 39th) of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and is at the south end of the strip, just 3 miles from the airport. However, the Four Seasons has it's own secluded entrance separate to that of the Mandalay Bay: the drive sweeps in past the main entrance, and then doubles back on itself, thus creating a one-exit roundabout. The centrepice of this is a small garden which is beautifully maintained, and has a small fountain and seating area. The entrance is set under a large porch area, reminiscent of a great Southern house, and is always well staffed by bell boys willing to help with luggage or open car doors for you. A Taste of Egypt- Las Vegas Style.

Advantages: Unique Shape, Good Casino
Disadvantages: Cleanliness an issue, Understaffed.

We had wanted to stay at the Luxor for our honeymoon and it was sadly booked out, so we stayed at the Aladdin (now Planet Hollywood) and never made it up even to visit the Luxor, so when we found a deal on Lastminute.com, we were chuffed and booked it in January 2007. Las Vegas Opulence

Advantages: Luxurious rooms, dining, fountain show, service
Disadvantages: Check in and general bedm in reception.

...For me only the Bellagio would do once we had decided to visit Las Vegas as the second stop on our honeymoon just over two years ago. The hotel featured in the Oceans' 11 film which I loved and I was particularly looking forward to seeing that famous water fountain show. The hotel is located roughly half way along the main Strip area in Vegas, it has an Italian theme and is beautiful to look at from the outside. It is set back from the street and the front of the building gently curves around "Lake Como". Providing it is not too windy, from 3pm in the afternoon the fountain show runs every fifteen minutes making for excellent photo opportunities and selling lots of postcards. DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

...It is a strange experience taking a vacation to a town in which you visit hotels to experience the attractions. I first visited Vegas as an 18 year old, and again this year (2008) aged 22, with warnings from some people that Vegas was a seedy place that was not suitable for a young man. Now having been twice I can see what these warnings were based on, it probably isn't the place for a young man to dwell, but my god it is just so much fun! Flying in to Vegas is a little odd. Sat on the wrong side of the plane, I saw literally nothing but desert as we descended and eventually landed.   VIVA LAS VEGAS

Advantages: Totally out of this world experience, so much to see and do, great hotels and casinos
Disadvantages: Sleazy in places, a few days isn't long enough to see it all

...Las Vegas is often compared to Blackpool but on a far greater scale - yes there are bright lights and hotels in both resorts the comparison really does stop there. So is Las Vegas all it is cracked up to be? In my opinion nothing could have prepared me for what I saw in my 6 days in Las Vegas - I'd seen all the television programmes raving about it and I'd spoken to many friends and relatives who had been - all spoke very highly of Vegas but all warned us that we wouldn't want more than a couple of days there - I was sure that a fortnight wouldn't be long enough and in my opinion I was right - Las Vegas is so vast that it is impossible to cram everything into a few days - although I did my damned hardest to try!!!
