Advantages: beautiful architecture and atmosphere
Disadvantages: why should it have any! well, kinda expensive to hang around

...on holiday to French Normandy and that Mt. St.-Michel would be one of our destinations and she showed me pictures from her previous trip to that place. I almost had a heart-attack when I saw I was going to lay my feet on the dreamt ground! Ok, let me be a little more factual now. Location and accessibility Le Mont Saint Michel is situated in Normandy, France, in the bay of St. Malo. We went there from Granville by car, which is probably the best as you can park right by the coast. Don't forget to check the high tide information though, because as the tide comes in, the only land access goes under water! I was surprised to find out that in that part of French seaside the difference of low and high tide could easily be even more than 10m! A Family outing to Mont St Michel

Advantages: Free to get in (to main part)
Disadvantages: Difficult / No access for wheelchair/pushchair

...Mont St Michel in the Gulf of St-Malo off the coast of Normandy, France. The Benedictine monastery (founded 708 AD) was used as a prison from the time of the French Revolution (1789-1799) until 1863. I visited Mont St Michel on a day trip during a fmily holiday in June. I was with my husband and 2 children (age 2 and 4 months at the time). The day we went was overcast to the first view of the Monastry was not as spectaular as I'm sure it is on a fine day. We paid c5 Euros to park and then walked about 100yards to the entrance and then paid another 1 Euro to use the loo! It was heaving with people when we got there which was a bit scary with a toddler who wanted to run and explore and a pushchair to manouvre. Le Meridien Hotel, St. Julian's - Malta

...On my recent holiday to Malta i stayed in Le Meridien Hotel, located in Saint Julian's. I would not normally have stayed in a 5 star hotel, but I was lucky enough to win some money towards a holiday from the company that I work for. Obviously, with free money, you are going to push the boat out a bit, and I am glad we did!! Location/Area We arrived at the hotel in the dark, quite late on a Friday night. The taxi brought us round a few small streets and then up quite a steep hill, thus bringing us to the reception of the hotel. My first impression was that it was in quite a strange location, but this is because i had only just seen where we were, and also it was dark, so everything seems different. Hotel Monte Verde

...In October 2006 I went on an all-inclusive holiday for one week to Porto Cristo on the east coast of Majorca (Mallorca). I stayed in a hotel called the Monte Verde. It cost me £169 and I will now share my experiences of this hotel with you. The Monte Verde Hotel was built in 1969 and was fully refurbished during the winter of 2000. The Monte Verde has a total of 140 rooms that are built over 7 floors. When I pulled up to The Monte Verde I was not very impressed with the look of the hotel, it looked like a block of flats and was similar to some of the housing around Porto Cristo, which looked a bit basic and old fashioned. However The Monte Verde is only a 2 star hotel so I was not expecting too much. St Deny's, the clean hotel for my dirty weekend!

Advantages: Polite and helpful staff, clean hotel.
Disadvantages: Bed a bot on the small side for my husband.

...Mauritius has always sounded like and advertised as the dream tropical island and when you book with your travel agent or on the web you are driven by the white beaches, luxury hotels and the vision of a tropical island. The le Coco Beach hotel is situated on its own white beach perfectly clean and manicured each morning. The hotel is only a 3 star hotel and its fair to say, showing its age. We had a room overlooking the beach it was clean and the sheets and towels were changed each day. the bathroom was a big dissapointment mold on the tiles and fitting falling off. The hotel did do there bestto rectify the problems however it did take the edge off the excellent servic of the staff. We booked this hotel as a top secret hotel through lastminute.com, paying £86 for the room for the night of Saturday 26th Septmeber 2009. For anyone who isn't familiar with lastminute's top secret system you basically get a star rating and description, but not the name of the hotel before you book. However, for London hotels if you put the description into Google you can easily find out which one matches the description, so we knew what we were getting before we booked. We arrived by Tube from King's Cross station to St. Paul's Underground station. From here the hotel is fairly easy to find. Just follow the signs for the cathdral then look for Godliman Street on the other side of the cathedral and you can't miss it. The transport links to the hotel are good...

MERTON HOTEL, ST SAVIOUR JERSEY

...My husband and I have just spent 5 nights at the Merton Hotel in St Saviour in Jersey, Channel Islands. We stayed from Sundary 2 September 2007 to Friday 7 September 2007 and we had a great stay. The Merton Hotel is owned by Seymour Hotels and is a 3 star hotel. Jersey have their own system of rating hotels which is different to the UK, but the ratings are of a very high standard. We stayed in a double ensuite room and we had free half board for the price of bed and breakfast. We booked through Condor Ferries and took our own car and paid a total of £769 for the trip (£79 of which was for the car ferry travel). OUR BEDROOM +++++++++++++++ Our room was plainly and pleasantly decorated, with chrome light fittings everywhere. ...I stayed in Le Meridien Beach Plaza from 1st -6th June 2008. I booked it about 4 weeks before we arrived with a friend for a last minute summer holiday. We booked the flights and hotel separately as i find this was the cheapest way to do it, instead of booking with an online travel agent e.g. last minute.com. We arrived at Nice airport around midday and instead of getting the usual taxi or shuttle bus to the hotel we decided to take an alternative form of travel. We decided to get a helicopter from Nice airport to Monaco. We found a link for this service on the le meridien website. The helicopter company is called HeliAir Monaco. It cost 70euros each for a 8 minute flight. However the views over the mediterranean are amazing. When we arrived at the helipad in Monaco a mercedes was waiting for us there to take us another 5 minutes by road...
