...Sorry i go so carried way with the rest of the resort i forgot to mention the hotel, so i hope edited review helps. We stayed in Limone in August 2006, We Didn't know what to expect as i book it on Last mintue.com , which cost £299 half board for 1 week and our hotel was allocated on arrival. When we arrive at Verona Airport where a representive meet us at the airport and told us where we were staying at what coach to get, the transfer to the hotel was quite long but the scenery and the very chatty travel rep keep us amused. once we arrived at the hotel Europa we where greet by the friendly staff who explained meals times etc. The hotel was a three star hotel, our room was small but the right size for us two very cleaning and cool, so there was no need for air con. as our room was at the back of the hotel we didnt have much...

Lovely Limone

Advantages: Holiday satisfaction
Disadvantages: Hardly any

...I just fell in love with lovely Limone, I with my family stayed at the Hotel Splendid Palace from 21/09/2008 to 28/09/2008 and happily ticked all the `smiley faces' when completing the hotel's questionaire before leaving at the end of our holiday. I stayed with my wife, in room 220 and I cannot praise the hotel staff enough for their efficiency and friendliness. From our balcony overlooking Lake Garda we were priviledged to enjoy stunning views of the mountains opposite and also Malcesine, just below and to the right, lay lovely Limone with its fine church tower, the constant activity of the various ferry boats.discharging and taking aboard passengers from the piers, created a never ending interest throughout our stay. Review of Hotel Splendid Palace, Limone sul Garda

Fantastic hotel in Lake Garda, reasonable price and great staff

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities
Disadvantages: A little too far from town if walking, pool covered

.... The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean. The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go. Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel. However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without. On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that. In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano...

...A nice small friendly family run hotel in simirone on lake garder as a nice surprise my boyfriend oh now now my future husband took me away and this is where we stayed a lovey view a great place a romantic setting but oh watch the biting flies at night i got bit the hotel has three floors each with so many bedrooms we were on the first floor in a nice room with a double bed well two singles made into one there was a wardrobe and dressing table also and one chair we had a nice balcony with a view over the car park but there are rooms with views over the pool and the lake, there is also free soap and shower gel in the bathroom there are towels but there like sheets really thin cotton but the rooms are clean and cleaned daily. the food well some complained it was not anoth but there was a choice each day for the breakfast it was...

...I visted Lake Garda a couple of summers ago and must say it was one of the most people places I have ever visited. Lots of people do seem to complain about it being overly touristy but with scenery like this I can certainly see why. Although it is an extremely popular holiday destination and there are a few touristy gift shops about I still would not say that Lake Garda was too touristy. When I visited I stayed in the largest resort of Riva del Garda a wonderful little town at the north of the lake. Lake Garda has plenty to do with lots of little cafes and restaurants. It is also in walking distance of the next resort. Riva was a beautiful town with a pictureque square which was home to many forms of entertainment in the evening. Lake Garda - Garda

Advantages: ice cream, location as it is close to many other places

...If you want somewhere to go in Italy that has it all, then lake Garda is the place and best of all is the largest of the towns around the edge; Garda itself. This quaint little village is perfect for people of all ages to get away to. The village front is set onto the lake and is lined with little restaurants and cafes. there is seating outside opposite all these places so the spectacular views can be absorbed, of which there are many. from the promanade the opposite side of the lake is clear to see, as is the so called "crocodile" a small penisular with a great resembilance to a sleeping crocodile. it was apparently near here that churchill wrote some of his memroires. ...We flew to Verona and jumped in a taxi to Lake Garda(30mins drive, cost about £40). We stayed in the Hotel Continental in Sirmione. Sirmione is a beautiful old town which you have to enter through the castle. There is a few shops and restaurants and lots of snack bars selling pizza and icecream. The old part of town is mainly pedestrianised. From the dock you can get a boat to just about anywhere around the lake. The boats are fairly cheap and very efficient. The scenery around the lake varies tremendously. In the south, it is very green and flat and the north of the lake is surrounded by mountains. Riva in the north is spectacular. .... Places of Interest There is an excellent Tourist Information Centre in the town where the staff are extremely helpful. From here one can find all the best places to visit around the lake, get timetables for local boats and buses, national railways and hotel information. Like most of the towns around the lake Torri has a castle. Formerly the seat of government for Benaco (now known as Garda). From the outside it looked inviting but it never seemed to be open to the public when we were around. I believe inside there are museums displaying life as it was in times gone by in this Olive producing region. It is also used for civil functions, we were lucky to observe a wedding. There are two churches in Torri de Benaco, which one can visit or attend services. They often host exhibitions and concerts free of charge. Shopping...
