Advantages: Quiet enough but with the option of a more lively time. The food, the people, the beaches and the weather,
Disadvantages: Hills may not be suitable for some people. The weather, sometimes it can be TOO hot.

...I'm tempted not to say how good Lindos is just in case too many people start going there! I returned to Rhodes after visiting Lindos 10 years ago, I'd always said I'd go back, I just wish I'd not left it so long. The village can only be described as picturesque, set into a hillside and made up of small, white, flat roofed houses, most of which are hundreds of years old. Overlooking the village is the ancient Acropolis, well worth a trip upto, though walking is a bit of a trek. You can take a donkey up there but personally, I find it a bit cruel to have some poor animal carry my 14 stone up a mountain. The other consideration is that you can easily get ringworm off them!! Lindos in Rhodes

Advantages: Great for Culture and sight Seeing
Disadvantages: Can be very Windy

...Lindos is excellent, we stayed in the Lindos Memories just outside of the town, Lindos town was a short Taxi ride away only a couple of Euro's. Lindos is a very old town, very hilly with narrow winding streets, with the Acropolis at the top of the cliff. We actually had our best holiday ever in Lindos. The weather was extremely hot as it is in the south of the Island, and it can be very windy. Be very careful during the day as you can burn very easily and bring plenty of cool clothes as it wasn't much cooler on a night. Try and stay in a Hotel with Air conditioning if possible, you'll need it. We spent many a pleasent evening wandering around the narrow streets, looking for somewhere to eat. There are many restaurants in Lindos Most have roof Terraces with views across the bay and up to the Acropolis. Our favourite reastaurant was...

Lindos - Rhodes

Advantages: Small, friendly and quite(ish)

...This little town on the island of Rhodes is absolutely beautiful. In fact that telling other tourists about this village would be a mistake as the more tourists that visit it the less special it will be. As a rule I decided a few years ago that i would never go back to the same place on holiday as there are just too many places in the world to visit. However, Lindos breaks that rule. This little town is totally pedestrianised as its streets are very narrow. The streets all have grape vines covering them and this keeps all the stalls, locals and tourists cool from the sun. The town is overlooked by the magnificent Acropolis, which dominates the area and is an interesting afternoons entertianment. For the evening there are loads of beautiful roof top restaurants to chose from and quite a few bars. Our favorite was the Lindos by Night...

A lovely place, Lindos

Advantages: Lovely, Clean, Quite
Disadvantages: Hilly walk to town

...interior and of course these are all Mercedes with air con. Costs of taxis vary so much depending on the time. Average taxi fare from Lindos town to our hotel ¾ miles away was 4e. I would advise everyone to ask the driver how much before you get in. If you need to call a taxi to your hotel then you can expect to pay an extra 1e. A must see/do in no particular order: Acropolis St Paul's Bay Local Shops Glass bottom boat at St Paul's bay Overall I would day Lindos is beautiful place and we as a family have already booked to go back for our wedding anniversary this October. Lindos - Rhodes

Advantages: excellent range of bars/ restaurants and outdoor activies
Disadvantages: no air conditioning in some hotel rroms

...I travelled to Lindos in August 2004 to be best man at a wedding. The wedding took place outside a small church in one of the bays. The whole area of lindos has some amazing scenery and is a must for anyone wishing to relax and enjoy everything from the sun, sea, sand, beer and a must of all the Acropolis. The Acropolis is partially in ruin, however there is currently a project to have this amazing structure built again. You can see the whole town of lindos from the top of the Acropolis. You can either walk up the path on foot or travel up by donkey with the help of the local villagers. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in Lindos from Indian, chinese to traditional english meals. Lindos 2004

Advantages: Freindly, relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Slippery streets and some may find it too hot

...After a very negative experience last year which resulted in a last minute booking in Rhodes and being stuck in the resort of Faliraki (with my thirteen year old daughter) the only good thing to come out of the week was a day trip to Lindos. We loved it so much we booked to come back again, but this time for a week. We booked through our local travel agent and our holiday company was olympic travel, we had great flights and good transfers, though be prepapred for a bit of a wait at Rodes airport as everyone is rounded up and onto the buses that will take you to your accomodation. We arrived in the early hours of the morning at Mary apartments, this was a dream for us as it was one of the old Sea Captains houses that Lindos is famous for. Be prepared though because Greece is basic, very basic but we did have a lrage fridge...

All Roads Point To Rhodes

Advantages: Absolutely Beautiful and Idyllic
Disadvantages: A Tad Hilly

...gather it does die down fairly early I'm unsure what time though. So if we were walking from our Hotel we'd come out on what can only be described as a fairly busy interchange on the main road from Lindos to Faliraki and Rhodes Town, (rather like a large square). Here you'll find numerous buses which will take you to any number of places on the Island. Across the road/square from the bus stops is a kiosk from which you buy your tickets for the destination you wish to go to by bus. The kiosk is among a couple of supermarkets, which are very well priced. For example, at our hotel it'd cost 1 Euro for 500ml of mineral water, but at these supermarkets it was 1.5 Euros for 2 litres. Also, close to these supermarkets is a restaurant/eatery where we ate on our first morning there. The food is nice but I wouldn't recommend having a full english...

Advantages: Beautiful and Idylic
Disadvantages: Too many tourist shops and some steep walking.

...Unless you are actually staying in Lindos your first approach will from the top of the surrounding hills, so you will be greeted by the spectacular view; The ancient Acropolis set at the highest point of the town overlooking the sea, the crecent of sand and clear sparkling waters of St Pauls bay, and the tightly packed traditional greek white houses, shops and Villas; accented with the odd Italian style villa left over from the 1930's when Rhodes was an Italian governed island. As you proceed downhill toward the town square you can either turn left toward the beach or continue straight on through the maze of vine covered narrow streets and the vast array of small local stores, where you can purchase everything from an engagement ring to traditional Greek lace dresses. Lindos-Back again

Advantages: Well placed-Friendly-Ideal for mixed age groups
Disadvantages: Daytime influx of coach trippers.Difficult access for those with mobility problems

...I have recently returned from Lindos on the Greek island of Rhodes,where my family (Me,OH,DD10,DS8.& DNiece24)and I had a wonderful holiday.We have been to the same destination 2 years in a row (previously unheard of!) You can Google Lindos and find tons of info on attractions,bars and shops,this is more about the little things that make a place special.I won't tell you about the acropolis and the the beaches,they are fab but not what brought us back.We were drawn back by the welcomeing homely feeling of the place. Maybe it was because we went early in the year (and the residents hadn't yet got tired of holidaymakers invading their town) but we felt truly welcomed.We settled in quickly reaquainting ourselves with our favourite spots and finding familiar faces who welcomed us with smiles.My children were delighted to be called by name...

Perfect place for the relaxing or energetic.

...Travel experts will always say, ''your holiday starts on the aeroplane''. In this case, its so true! As we arrived over Rhodes, I suddently recognised the hotel from pictures I had previously seen prior to booking. In the night light, the building of white shon. It looked perfect, I was so excited about arriving. As we arrived at the hotel it was early morning, we were greated by a happy group of reception staff, bags taken to our room and informed on breakfast times and meetings with the rep. Our room was spacious and very clean. At this point, I coudn't wait untill morning! As we woke, we went down in the lift to breakfast, where we were once again greated by happy staff. There was a variety of hot and cold food to choose from and the restaurant was imaculate. Next to face was the swimming pool, there was one for toddlers...
