...and miles above the rest of the hotels in London, in my opinion. The friendliness of the staff is outstanding, and they go out of their way to accommodate any request. Each member of staff was nice and it wasn't even like finding one member of staff who had a bad attitude they all went out of their way to give good customer care. Superb London Budget Hotel

Advantages: Beautiful setting in a buzzing part of London
Disadvantages: Not suitable for disabled people - no lift

...range of tourist guides and information. After a fine sleep in my comfy bed, I went down for breakfast into an airy lower ground floor dining room where I was greeted warmly by a smiling waitress. The food was superb - cereals, toast, and virtually whatever you want full-English wise - and the waitress was always available to bring more tea/cofee/toast/whatever. Breakfast is served from 7.30 until 9 am, which gives plenty of scope. My room was £50 for one night's b&b, which I think is extremely reasonable for this part of London. I booked direct with the hotel, but you can book via e-mail or through www.hotels-london.co.uk which I have since found offers a discount on the price I paid and could have saved me a fiver. Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding

Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End

...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav! On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere...

...difficulties in access and room lighting I really enjoyed this stay at The Strand Palace hotel. It was extremely central to our needs, and offered polite helpful, knowledgeable staff. It was very clean throughout and I will have no hesitation in booking here again. Wonderful hotel in London, I would highly recommend it!

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern rooms, clean and friendly.
Disadvantages: None I can really think of, if I had to mention something it'd be the pricey internet.

Easy Hotel London Victoria.

Advantages: Great value hotel. Right in the heart of London. Lovely staff.

There is so much to see and do but staying in hotels in the centre of london can be VERY expensive. BUT not when you stay with easy hotels. Right in the heart of the city FOR ONLY £35-£40 PER NIGHT AND THATS FOR THE TWO OF US!!!!!!!! Now in my opinion that is a great deal. 'Swin'ging London Town!

Advantages: cheap, clos to King's Cross station and St Pancras Underground

...In my life, I had stayed in, to my knowledge...three hotels. When I made plans to go to London for a week over Easter, naturally I had to work out some sort of accommodation! I didn't have any preferences, apart from the fact that it had to have free wireless connection. I had stayed in just the one hotel in London prior to this trip, and that was the Travelodge. That was just a little trip with the school Campaigns and Fundraising group to claim an award, so I had no involvement with booking. So when I went to check the price, I discovered it was going to cost me around £80 for a night! I really didn't want to pay that, so further rummaged around the internet to see what I could find... Advantages: Close to the Royal Abert Hall, modern, bright, minimalist style
Disadvantages: Too small, rooms lacking essentials, narrow staircase, unreliable lift

...appreciate that London is expensive and that you're really paying for the prime location - and this is Kensington (so you're within walking distance of the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Earls Court, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Sloane Street etc.) - but for £160, I expected more. Stranded in London!

Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned. Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...

I have noticed that offers for other Garth Hotels pop up around this review, so be careful which one you are looking at. Its a large 5 story terraced house currently used as a Hotel. There are a lot of steep stairs and no facilities for disabled people that I could see. +++++++++Location++++++++++ The first thing to say about the Garth Hotel in Gower St is that the location is brilliant. Especially if you want to go to the British Museum, Tottenham Court Road or Oxford St. Its also very handy for Euston Station which is only a five minute walk away. ++++Common Areas++++ It is a budget hotel and has to be judged as such.
