A decent hotel near Termini
Advantages: Clean, close to transportation
Disadvantages: No breakfast included in our package
...When we decided to go to Rome we looked into booking plane tickets and hotel separately. Eventually, the combination of time constrictions and budget, led to us buying a package deal from Expedia - plane tickets and hotel. We bought a deal that took us from London to Rome flying Alitalia and 5 nights at the Bettoja Hotel Nord Nuova Roma for 720 £ (about 1300$), excluding breakfast. As usual, it was not easy to decide which hotel to choose. We did some homework and most reviews indicated that the Termini area was "highly undersirable". The decision to stay in the area was influenced by price and the fact that there were renowned 4-5 star hotels in the same vicinity - how "undersirable" could the area really be then?
On the morning of July 2nd we arrived at the Termini train station using the Leonardo express. The hotel is located in...

Termini - Great facility
Advantages: Good shops, clean, easy to navigate around, car rental service
Disadvantages: Busy
...Statione Termini has it's ups and downs. It's a useful and popular train station that's maximised it's capacity by building in useful shops, car rental office and places to buy food. Although usually crowded, this is due to it being the only train station in Rome and because it's main bus station is right outside. Also a lot of tour busses pass through.
As you enter the train station you will notice that all the appropriate info is ahead on various screens. The large ticket office is also ahead. The shops start to the left and continue down the wide corridor where it opens into a medium sized mall. Continuing from here you'll find the platforms.
The shops themselves are varied and particuarly useful for travelling - bookshops and takeaway snack food. There's a restaurant/cafe on the first floor, just on the left of the main...

The Invergarry Hotel near Loch Ness
Advantages: Lovely location, good food
Disadvantages: Restuarant quite expensive and very busy
...The Invergarry Hotel lies beside the A87 which is often referred to as "The road to the Isles". It lies within Glen Garry and the River Garry runs alongside the A87 on the opposite side of the road. All of the rooms at the front of the hotel have wonderful views overlooking the river, although it could be argued that the rooms at the back are quieter. Whilst this argument is doubtless true all of the windows are double glazed and therefore I would personally request a room at the front.
I haven't actually stayed here so I cannot comment on the accommodation side although from the outside the residential areas look very nice and I have peered through the windows into the residents bar on numerous occasions. I have however visited the public bar here many times and I have also eaten in the restaurant.
The public bar is very cosy...

Station Termini
Advantages: Modern Station with state of the art services
Disadvantages: Always crowded and long ques.
...My husband and I went to Italy to celebrate this new year. It was a huge station opened somewhere around 2000 . It has a huge bus depot on one side which has bus services to all the main attractions in Rome such as Piazza Navona, Colloseum, Spanish steps, Victor Emmanualle, Roman Forum, Vatican and other exciting places. Please be aware of theives all over italy as I was about to be snatched by a thief when traveling in a bus and a very kind young lady warned me from my behind. Inside the termini station you get all the required stores food, clothing, accessories in wide range. As with trains, they are bit dingy, but travels in quite good speed and reaches the destination in quoted time....

Blue Square Hotel- Apparently near, yet so far.
Advantages: Lovely bedrooms, large shower, bar staff friendly, luggage room to leave bags.
Disadvantages: Too far from city centre, transport costs to hotel very dear, area undesirable.
...My partner and I recently visited Amsterdam (in late May for 4 nights) and as I was so busy with work, left it up to him to book the hotel and take care of the details. We have been to Amsterdam before and the hotels we usually stay at had no vacancies, so he booked us into the Blue Square Hotel, and proudly showed me the documents he had printed off and the website. "Looks lovely, oh it says it's close to the town centre- within walking distance- can't wait!" was my reaction. Out of the airport we trundled a few weeks later with our cases and got into a waiting taxi. He drove us to the hotel. It took a LONG time. As he was unloading our cases with us he said "This is not a good area for you." I asked him what he meant by that. "Is not a good area and is too far to walk to town, you will have to use trams. Don't pay all the time...

A Contemporary Hotel Near to a Beautiful Monastery
Advantages: Well situated - close to famous attraction and good transport links
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...Jeronimos 8 is one of the most contemporary hotels I have come across in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. It has a real 'designer' feel to the establishment and makes a refreshing change from the heavy wood furniture and long draped curtains that you come across quite a lot in Portugal.
The hotel is well connected by tram, bus and train to the city centre. To save on costs whilst travelling to and from the hotel I suggest you purchase a Sete Colinas travel card from the nearest kiosk or newsagents.
Location wise it is in a great situation - very near to some of the favourite and most famous attractions. For example: my favourite and one of Lisbon's most beautiful Manueline pieces of architecture - Jeronimos Monastery is only 200 metres from the hotel. Torre de Belem and the Monument of the Discoveries are a walk away at 1.5 kilometres...

A decent but basic 2 star hotel near Bournemouth Pier
Advantages: Good value for money and good location.
Disadvantages: Based on the price, none.
...I often stay in Bournemouth when visiting my Dad who only has a one bedroom flat.
I have tried a few hotels and this one was okay. When I stayed in the hotel in September 2008 the rooms were undergoing a refit and being modernised. I managed to stay in one of the rooms that has already been modernised and it provided a comfortable stay.
I paid £59 for a one night stay in a double room on a room only basis but this was still in high season. Room rates in low season are approximately £25 lower in price.
The room had an en suite bathroom with a bath that had a shower head and shower screen built on to it.
Their was an LCD TV screen mounted on the wall of the bedroom although the number of channels was fairly limited. Tea and coffee making facilities, extra pillows and blankets in a cupboard. The room was warm, adjustable central...

Hotel International
Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms
...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Jess Klein certainly Draws You Near
Advantages: Soulful and very expressive vocals, several excellent tracks
Disadvantages: Not a household name so few will have heard of her or want to take a risk on her
...CD Review: Jess Klein ? ?Draw Them Near? (2000)
Jess Klein ? not exactly a household name, is she?
No, sadly she isn?t. For your delectation and amusement, I?ve trawled through my extensive CD trove to find Jess Klein?s third solo album, 2000?s ?Draw Them Near?, a little-known but very likeable piece of Americana. Whilst she?s labelled as a folk artist, her work veers more towards the alt-country and rock genres, her strong and forthright voice supported by plenty of bold and yet sympathetic electric guitars. Whilst this album doesn?t necessarily contain enough to make it one of my top 20 favourite CDs, there?s still quite a bit to enjoy ? and since Jess sounds uncannily like Suzanna Hoffs from The Bangles at times, she?s won me over straight away!
Born in Brooklyn in 1974, Jess Klein started playing the acoustic guitar...

The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...
