Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

...I know, I know, Blackpool is perceived as fish'n'chips, bucket and spades, amusement arcades, B&B's. What about something different? Choice Hotels in Blackpool run 3 hotels - The Claremont (near the North Pier), the Talk of The North (near South Pier) and the Cliffs Hotel (North Promenade just up from Gynn Square). My family and I have stayed at the Cliffs Hotel on 6 occasions, ranging from weekend breaks to full weeks. Why? The hotel is large and well appointed - it has a 1920's feel about the facade and interior and is very clean and spacios. There are 5 bars and a large resturant. The food is excellent with a very good selection - the staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a well appointed leisure club - free to residents. It has a pool, jacuzzi, small but very good gym, sauna, sunbeds and a leisure club bar. It...

Newquay Experience

Advantages: Nice Place to Visit and to Stay
Disadvantages: just a long car journey t

...NEWQUAY EXPERIENCE- Newquay is ideal place for a short break or family holiday there is so many things to see and do in and around and suits all tastes. If it is a Beach holiday you want then Newquay is great because it is situated on the north coast of Cornwall and it is blest with many lovely bseaches which you can surf and laze about on . Also if you are keen on walking there are coastal walks to venture on and while you are walking you will be able to take in the scenary and the breathe taking views around the coast line which I find amazing. There is a variety of places to safe from Hotels ,B&B, Guest Houses, Self Catering and Surf Lodges to choose from and this is depending on the type of holiday you would like to expericience. When I was there I managed to rent out an apartment which was in walking distance to...

Dynnargh dhe Newquay...

Advantages: A lovely part of the country with so much to see and do.
Disadvantages: prepare for lots of traffic!

...highly popular with surfers. ***ACCOMODATION*** We stayed in the Sandy Lodge Hotel for a weekend over Easter. Like most people in Newquay the laid back attitude and cheerful personality of staff was a great part of the holiday. The way the Cornish do it dreckly was just what we needed. Don?t expect your hotel to be fast action and all go like you would in London. We chose the Sandy Lodge Hotel as everywhere else was booked, which is probably the only tip I can give about Newquay. If you plan to take off during Christmas, Easter, bank holidays or the summer holidays then book up a few months in advance. Luckily we loved our hotel and I would certainly recommend it. The rooms were spacious although our room was under the stair case and it was rather squeaky at night. The rooms were en-suite with a colour TV and tea/coffee tray. I...

At Home at the Atlantic

Advantages: Great hotel, great place
Disadvantages: -

...it comes to accommodation and I won't just stay anywhere. Mr & Mrs Bedbug B&B, for me is out of the question, call me a snob but I would rather sleep in the car..lol. Upon arriving in the centre of Newquay you can see a huge hotel on the cliffs, which to me looked like a perfect hotel to stay in, driving up the bank to the hotel, we noticed that there was a wedding party there, so I wasn't counting my chickens however we parked up in the carpark, went inside and luckily they had a double room available at a cost of £45 per night per person including breakfast. Thats it we will take it. The hotel that we stayed in was the Atlantic Hotel. The hotel was purposely built in 1892 and is the largest hotel currently in Newquay. The hotel itself has recently been refurbished to include 12 luxurious suites, each with their own balcony, has...

Our Blackpool Trip

Advantages: Excellent staff - especially at breakfast, reception staff especially Stewart also very helpful and friendly
Disadvantages: Food was basic, parking - got blocked in and could not move our own car!

...Me, my Mum, my Brother and my boyfriend all set off for a family trip to Blackpool. Attracted by the Cliffs facilities for the money we decided on booking it. Well we were extremely happy, I strongly advised entering the basement, kids soft play area, table tennis, arcade games, pool, snooker, swimming pool and gym! You'd never believe it would all fit down there! The rooms were clean, the toilets would have been too small to sit on if I was a few dress sizes bigger!! The food at breakfast was fresh and hot but was limited. The only disappointment is when we found our car blocked in as other guests had not left their keys at reception. It was ridiculous that we wouldn't move our own car!! However the hotel did try it's best and transported us themselves to and from the restaurant we had intended to eat at. Overall great fun...

The Leas Cliff Hall

Advantages: Lots of shows to choose from, excellent security
Disadvantages: None

...I have been to the Leas Cliff Hall on several occasions to watch bands such as Embrace and Pink Floyd tribute bands. I have also attended the musical Fame at this location. The Leas Cliff Hall There is one main arena at the Leas Cliff Hall and this consists of a large stage, with an open hall area in front on it. At the back of the hall, there are stairs which lead to upper stalls although the seating is fairly limited with only two rows all the way round. During the concerts that I have attended, there have been no seats laid out and visitors are left to stand in the large open hall area where they can view the band on stage. The only seating available is the higher seating around the outside of the hall. When I attended the musical Fame, the Leas Cliff Hall had been laid out in a completely different style. Rows of seats had been...

Surfers Hostel

Advantages: cheap as!
Disadvantages: overpriced drinks

...The Surfers Hotel in Newquay, has an amazing location, very cheap rates, and a twenty-four-hour bar. What more could anyone staying in Newquay want from a hotel?? The hotel is situated at 1, Narrowcliff , which is literally across the road from Tolcarne Beach. Once you've stumbled down 130-odd steep steps anyway.. (going back up again is a caner!). Tolcarne itself is a beautiful beach, surrounded on the land-side with cliffs, but going out a long way at low-tide, and gets some surf second only to Fistral. It has lifeguard cover, as well as a couple of shops and cafés. The hotel site is just on the edge of the town centre, literally a hundred yards from Barracuda nightclub, Berties Uptown bar, and importantly, a cash point! It's about a five to ten minute walk to the centre of town, a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the opposite...

Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire

Advantages: A lovely natural wonder, lots of wildlife
Disadvantages: Not fully accessible for disabled visitors, admission charges

...Bempton Cliffs can be found on the east coast of Yorkshire just outside the small village of Bempton, which is off the Bridlington to Flamborough road. This whole area is now a nature reserve that is owned and managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). There can be few people that have been here that can deny that Bempton Cliffs are a spectacular sight. They are characterised by their chalk-white appearance and they rise vertically from the sea to the cliff tops. They are just as impressive from the top of the cliffs looking downwards as they are from below looking upwards. These limestone sea cliffs stretch for over 3 miles (5 kilometres) and have an average height of 86 metres above sea level. They are the highest sea cliffs in England and they are home to one of the largest sea bird colonies in the British...

Summer camp, Penhale, Newquay hmmm

Advantages: New Friends, Lush views, New Things
Disadvantages: Tiring, 6'Oclock starts and the Weather On Occasions

...Summer holidays, the sun is shining, school is out and what do I choose to do?..army cadet camp in Cornwall - not exactly the best place to go and chill out and just relax - but it will do. Twelve whole days away from my mum, and my younger siblings - yay! Now before any of you lovely people say anything, this review is about Penhale camp, which is near Newquay - but because there is no Penhale section, I will put it in the Newquay section. From Wiltshire, it took us three hours to get to Exeter which was our lunch break. We stopped at Exeter service station - which can I add, is a lovely place to stop, with up to date toilet facilities, a restaurant, a burger king and a shop. There is also an outside play park for the children, and arcade games dotted about the place. From the service station, it took us another hour and a half to...

Newquay

Advantages: In the summer it's surf city
Disadvantages: Hen and Stag hell.

...I went to Newquay for the surf festival in 2003 with five of my mates. We stayed in Smugglers Haven campsite and 18 - 30s campsite just outside Newquay town. It took us 9 hours to actually get down there from the midlands, normally it would take about 3 or four but we had to detour a lot of traffic heading down there. Newquay is packed in the summer. On arriving at our muddy caravan park we were greeted by a few quite friendly shouts from various groups staying in their caravans near us. Every half an hour there is a double Decker bus that goes from the campsite and other campsites around Newquay into the town, this bus runs all day and late into the night. This is the golden snitch if your in a packed taxi queue at midnight and you see this bus run for it, it is only £1.50 for a single whereas taxies in Newquay can vary £10...
