...Pickering Castle can be found just outside the town centre of Pickering, a quaint little market town on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It is clearly sign posted from the middle of the town, but be warned when I visited here a few weeks ago some prankster had turned around the sign and I went trudging off along the road towards Malton (on foot) for about a mile in completely the wrong direction. I did eventually find the castle, although even though the land around here is quite flat it is not, unlike most castles visible from afar. I was always fascinated by this figure so when I discovered that there was a similar white horse in North Yorkshire within a day trip of where I live it became a place that I wanted to see. North stafford hotel

Richmond is a small market town in North Yorkshire, on the edge of the Dales, and if you believe what you read in Lonely Planet guides, then it is one of the great undiscovered towns of England as far as visitors are concerned. This might be a little odd when you consider the popularity of the Dales and that the proximity of the town to the A1 (just 4 miles away) makes it easily accessible as a day trip location from a large part of the North East and Yorkshire. ...Reading the review before mine, clearly this family had the better-side of the hotel. Do not waste your money on it. I have stayed in a few hotels while travelling, here and abroad. I wanted to take my partner away for his birthday to alton towers (i bought two-day passes) and searched online for a nice hotel to enjoy our weekend away in. I came across the North Stafford Hotel and it appeared to be quite luxurious and smart and within my price budget. We stayed 2nights for £180. On arrival we found the hotel carpark but it was fee-payable, the receptionist explained that did not apply to us but that whenever we wanted to go out we would have to get her to credit our pass for the barrier to go up (?). What a hassle! We were not told of any elevators (which we saw only once we'd reached the top floor) and had to lug our bags up 4 flights...

Advantages: Fantastic Meal whilst having a great train ride - a totally different experience

...When 2 friends of ours invited us for a meal but told us that we had to be at their house by 4pm as we would need to set off by 4.15pm I was somewhat confused. When they followed this by "and make sure you are dressed smartly" I really couldn't work it out. Then when we had to make our menu selection 2 weeks before the date of the meal my mind was blown. I swiftly realised that we may be making quite a journey and they were driving - I don't travel well so popped a travel sickness tablet in my mouth and we set off.
