Harbouring a hotel........ Poole

Advantages: Excellent Views, Good value for money (when we stayed n e way)
Disadvantages: The heat, rooms very warm

...We recently stayed at the Thistle Hotel in Poole and have to say that of the many hotels we have stayed this must rank amongst the top 5. Based right on the harbour, and I mean right on it, about 20 feet, the view of the boats coming / going, the yachts and the general ambience of the place was excellent. Our room on the second floor was spacious with a separate seating area and very clean. The bed was good to firm and storage was exceptional, good storage was needed as the wife insisted on taking 16, yes sixteen different tops for a two night stay. The bathroom was light and airy and the room in generally had all the things you expect, i.e. Trouser Press, Shower, Bath, Iron, Hair Drier etc etc.. experience at this hotel

...i stayed at this hotel over the winter period of 2008 , and i just found this place to be the worst hotel i hadf ever stayed in , dont get me wrong the staff were great but the standard of my room was horrible , out of date tatty and the restraunt wasnt so up to date either , service was great , the views were amazing and the locals were very fiendly, the hotel is based next to the quay side in poole over looking the second biggest natural harbour in the world , with the national park (brownsea island ) in view it is a place you need to see , overall i did enjoy my stay here even though there was no heating in my room and i was brought an elecric heater as a replacement i payed £89 for a single room , i would like to say this is a great place for familys that like a quite restfull holiday with a peaceful atmosphere, thistle hotel...

Poole in all its Glory

Advantages: Lovely area plenty to see
Disadvantages: Beaches can get busy

...Poole: Well Poole is the slightly quieter neighbour of Bournemouth. It has the most beautiful beaches Sandbanks a peninsular which stretches out to form the harbour entrance has been said to be one of the best beaches in the country with its white sands it has been awarded the blue flag for management and cleanliness for the last 20 years, It does get busy in the summer so plan well. The harbour itself is said to be the Largest natural Harbour in Europe. The Harbour holds 5 main islands the largest Brownsea Island, home of red squirrels and the Birthplace of the first ever scout camp founded by Baden Powell way back in 1907. Regular boats run between Poole Quay and Brownsea allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the island. The smaller islands are long Island, Green Island, Round Island and Furzey Island...

Coolest Pool

Tzante Hotel - Cheap, Fantastic pool bar, party resort

...The hotel itself is your typical 18-30s resort, Noisy, full of chavs and very very basic. In my opinion you get what you pay for, we paided £245 for 2 weeks accomodation, flights and transfers! It's location however is fantastic and the pool bar is a major plus. The rooms we had were abit further away from the pool and facing away from the strip however the noise from both were still fairly audible till atleast 5 in the morning. I would strongly recommend asking for a room at the back and taking earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The rooms were cleaned most days but were very basic, there was a fridge but nothing else and i believe it switched off whenever you took the room key out of the electricity switch, we ate out most nights and only used the fridge for breakfast items. ...When we bought our new house one of the specifications was a large garden and a large garden was what we got. We decided that now we had a large garden we needed a large Paddling pool to go in it on sunny days. Of course most people would get one which was easy to blow up and take down and wouldn't be a hassle to empty. Well not us. We spotted this massive red and yellow one which came with a palm tree that sprayed water if you have the right connections, has a small slide, had a basketball hoop and came with balls. There was also a small square part which could just be sat in. It was a bargain at £14.99. This pool is roughly 6ft by 4ft, and took up a large part of the garden.
