...mixed reports of not only the Country as a whole but also of Port El Kantaoui and so I arrived with trepidation. FIRST IMPRESSIONS We arrived around Midday on a Sunday afternoon after a flight of just over 3 hours from Manchester. The Sun was belting down and there was not a single Cloud in the Sky, the temperature gauge on the Wall outside the Hotel where we was staying read 46 Degrees Centigrade and it was hung in the shade, the Weather was certainly a far cry from what we had left behind in England, despite the fact that England was about to enter into a mini heat wave of its own, but on a much less severe scale. Port El Kantaoui staying at the Vincci Hotel

Advantages: Good weather
Disadvantages: Night Life

...We flew with Kathargo Airlines from Edinburgh to Monastir. The flight time is about 3 and a half hours. The airline was very basic with no in flight entertainment and the usual meals were served. The aircraft was obviuosly quite old with shabby seats and trays that didn't work or were broken. If on a Boeing 737 then don't sit near the centre of the plane (seat 12 to 14) as the legroom is quite ridiculous! On Arrival at Monastir be prepared for long queues whilst you go through immigration. After collecting your baggage don't worry about finding your coach, as there'll be a willing porter ready to whisk you and your luggage off to the desired coach park. ...PORT EL KANTAOUI This is a lovely port, when we went to TUNISIA we stayed right in the centre of Port El Kantaoui and Sousse. I recommend the Tuk-Tuks there great. The port itself is based on an old fishing village, which has been extended ? from what I have been told. There are many shops and restaurants, but, beware of the toilets. They are not very clean ? for example we went for a meal in the port and the toilet were right next door to where they prepared there food and the toilet weren't' very clean ? I couldn?t bring myself to go, so I waited until I got back to the hotel. There a lots of things to buy there special is leather and it is really cheap, I bought some belts and my dad who is crazy about sandals bought 3 pairs of leather sandals. The Hotel Royal Kenz, Tunisia

Advantages: Very Clean, Good Food

...The Hotel Royal Kenz in the Resort of Port El Kantaoui in Tunisia was recently my Home for 7 nights between the 2nd and 9th July 2006. The Holiday itself was a last minute booking but the Girl at the Travel Agent's said that She had stayed at this Hotel and that it was superb. The price for the total package, including Flights and transfers was incredibly cheap at just under £200 Half Board for 7 nights and so the booking was made. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I had seen a picture of the Hotel in the Brochure so I knew that this was one of the largest Hotels in the Resort with 405 Rooms. I also knew that it had only three Floors and that it was therefore spread out over quite a wide area within its own Grounds. Advantages: sun, sea, sand!
Disadvantages: resort built solely for tourists

...I stayed in the Tunisian resort of Port el Kantaoui, Hotel Marharba Palace for 2 weeks during August 2004, with my boyfriend. We had a fantastic holiday as a one off, but would not consider revisiting Tunisia. The hotel itself definitely lived up to its 4 stars with beautiful sea views, decent sized clean swimming pool (although you do have to reserve sun beds at the crack of dawn!), and excellent maid and waiter service. The food was the low point of the holiday, lacking in variety, but was certainly edible. We booked our holiday through Thomson who remained helpful and supportive throughout the stay. I strongly recommend the execursions that Thomson had to offer. I am very much a sun lover but, at 40 degrees, even I found I needed to take a break from the sun bathing and swimming. Port El Kantaoui Tunisia Far from home

Advantages: Brilliant Weather, people
Disadvantages: Not much to do

...We took our holiday on the 17th November for 7 nights stay and Marhaba Palace in Port El Kantaoui. The resort itself is beautiful, scenic and clean. It is a purpose built resort mainly for tourists. When we were there we seemed to find mainly older people who had gone for 6-8 weeks. They were either going around the country or relaxing. The hotel is wonderful as were all the other hotels in Port El Kantoui. I think all the standards are good. Marhaba Palace was excellent. The service, waiters and general workers were very friendly, especially towards young kids. We had our 1 and a half year old daughter and every Tunisian stopped to play with her, say hello or in some cases to kiss her. We were amazed by this as this never happens in the UK when you go to a hotel. My daughter found it enjoyable as she had enough space to run around...

Kanta-stic!

...Andrew & I stayed at the 4* Hotel Kanta in Port El Kantaoui last July. It was the 2nd time I had been to Tunisia, the first being about 10 years ago and staying in the Hannibal Place up the road, which was mediocre at the time, so I wasn't expecting too much from the Hotel Kanta! We booked an early deal, in January 2005 for the hotel. We paid £598 altogether for 2 adults for 1 week on a half board basis at the Hotel Kanta, which we thought was excellent considering the brochure price at the time was £468 per adult for that week. This was booked through Airtours. After flying on Air Tunisie to Monastir airport on a late flight, we were quite exhausted; the hotel was approximately 35 minutes from the airport, our hotel being the first stop en route for transfers. Thumbs up for Sol El Mouradi hotel, Tunisia

Advantages: on the beach, fantastic staff, clean
Disadvantages: a little bit out of the way

...overlooking the entrance to the hotel, so we asked straight away if we could swap. The manager was so helpful, personally showing us to 4 different rooms and letting us choose which one we wanted. We had to pay about £4 a night for the sea view room, but that was nothing considering the amazing view we had over the pools, the beach and the sea, with views over Port el Kantaoui and the sunset. ROOM The room was a typical holiday hotel room - 2 single beds that could be easily pushed together to make a double (and were surprisingly comfy), bedside tables, a dressing table with a mirror above, a television, large wardrobes and a mini table / cabinet thing. The balcony was small but good, with a table and 2 chairs. The bathroom was surprisingly big, with a toilet, a bath and a shower above, that was so powerful that firemen could use it...

Port El Kantoui 2002

Advantages: Cheap,clean, warm
Disadvantages: Not authentic, walk to the port

...We went here from September to October 2002, the weather is nice this time of year (about 35), and there are not too many kids around. We stayed in the Golden Soviva which was fine, although the sister hotel the Soviva did not look great. Th eport is about a 50 minute walk away, or £1.50 in a taxi (which are plentiful) but is quite small and to be honest bland. There is a cafe with tiled seats which plays Tunisian music and sells great fresh juices but everything elses is much of a sameness. I did not find La Mediterrane that great a place to eat, in fact the fish were friendlier than the watiing staff. The little zoo is pretty (camels and goats, birds etc) but if the old man who runs it asks if you want hime to take your picture he then asks for money ! The cafes across from the Soviva were cheap and fine but we had food poisining...

Excellent Value for Money!

Advantages: Very Relaxing Atmosphere!
Disadvantages: Beggars

...I think this is certainly one of the better hotels in the area. My girlfriend and I had never been to Tunisia before, and found the area very easy to navigate, the local's friendly and the staff even better! The staff were friendly, and didn't hassle for tips although we often left one due to the excellent service we recieved from them. They were very greatful to recieve the tips, and always appreciated them. The hotel has 2 resteraunts within it's grounds (excluding the one that comes with half / full-board meals). They were very large and had plenty of room to seat everyone when the lunch time flood begins! The food given with half and full board is excellent, and is all you can eat. I recommend the crepes for breakfast and dessert and dinner! There is a shop in the hotel also, where you can buy drinks, clothes, wallets...
