Portland Hotel, Skuba And Grill Resturant

Advantages: RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE MUST SEE'S AND DO'S OF FOLKESTONE
Disadvantages: PARKING

...The Portland Hotel, Skuba Bar & Grill Restaurant. Owned by a gay couple called Lee & Tin, These guys have made a name for themselves in this establishment and the town. About 7 years ago this building was run down and dirty. They bought at auction with great prospects. Over the years the popularity of the bar has grown substantially. Started off as 'gay friendly' only gay people went to the bar and a handful of straight people or the hotel guests. Now homosexuality is more accepted, it is mixed and very busy especially in the summer. Bar and Beer Gardens & Terrace It has an outdoor drinking area with garden in front which greets all people from different walks of life. Pets are also too welcome in the garden and can grab a bowl whilst their owners grab a pint...

Bewleys Hotel Manchester Airport

Advantages: near to airport a comfortable hotel and affordable
Disadvantages: none

...***Introduction*** I had a flight booked from Manchester to Rhodes three weeks ago but unfortunately the check in time was 5.30 am. I really needed to be refreshed on my arrival because it was a business trip so I decided to check into Bewleys Hotel the night before, I have on previous occasions driven from home to the airport and found it very tedious and stressful normally leaving me feeling like a washed up dish rag by the time I arrived at my destination. ***The Hotel*** It is situated about three minutes walk from terminal 3 but also provides a 24 hour shuttle service to all the terminals. I actually travelled by train to the airport and on arrival I located the free phone in the main concourse to contact the shuttle service, they picked me up within five minutes which impressed me no end. It is a large...

Buxton great, Portland Hotel not great

Advantages: Close to the Pavillion Gardens
Disadvantages: Below par food, below par rooms.

...Buxton is a picturesque town, clearly a place for holidays for the well-off in days gone by. The Portland Hotel is located near the Opera House, and opposite the Pavilion Gardens (but with a view of the car park, rather than the gardens), and may have been a decent hotel once, but not anymore. It's a medium sized, with 22 rooms, and it definitley looks like it may have seen more affluent times in years gone by. All rooms are en suite. However, our room had an extremely small en suite? erm, I can't call it a bathroom? toilet with a shower in. Our room was nicely decorated, but somehow felt like a very standard B & B room - possibly because of the smell of smoke which was lingering on everything in there. The publicity states that you have Sky TV - in our room that seemed to be restricted to one sports channel and 2 radio channels...

Super hotel in the heart of Manchester

Advantages: Location, staff, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I have had the pleasure of staying here on business on several occasions. My mother?s family come from Manchester so I always really enjoy visiting Manchester. About the hotel: The Arora Manchester is a four star hotel with over 140 bedrooms. It?s part owned by Cliff Richard and there are even five special Cliff bedrooms decorated with his memorabilia if you like that kind of thing! The location on Princess Street is also excellent as you are in the city centre and only 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station if you arrive by train. It?s also about a 20-minute journey from the airport, which is also very convenient. The hotel doesn?t have it?s own car park but apparently guests can use the nearby NCP to park at a discounted rate. First Impressions: It?s an old fashioned looking building but it also looks quite grand. It is also...

Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel

Advantages: Just of the M56 - convenient
Disadvantages: Just of the M56 - noisy

...I stayed here for one night last week on a business trip to Manchester. I'd stayed there several times before, but they've recently renovated some of the public areas to make a new "Executive Lounge" with computers and things. Not quite sure what you need to get in there though... The hotel is just off Junction 6 (Hale) of the M56 motorway, just 2 miles from Manchester Airport. and a 10 minute drive up the M56 to Manchester itself. This makes it quite popular for conferences and seminars, and there were a few going on there last week, one was "Effective decision making for non-executive directors of mutuals", that could have been interesting There's a complimentary shuttle to Manchester Airport and they also offer "Park & Fly" packages (around £8 per day, I think) so you can leave your car there while you jet off... For food...

Cheap and Very Cheerful!

Advantages: Fantastic price, great location
Disadvantages: None

...04:00am until noon. Snacks are available from the bar/reception 24 hours. Alarm calls were available from reception on request. There are two lifts in the hotel. Climate control is available in the room for when you are too hold or cold. Location The hotel is located halfway down Portland Street in the middle of Chinatown. This really is a fabulous location ? only five minutes walk from the centre of everything including Piccadilly Station. Food and drink We didn?t eat breakfast in the hotel but had quite a few snacks. The food was great and reasonably priced. We also took advantage of the 24 hour bar service and ordered a margherita pizza at 3am while having a drink (or ten) in the bar. The only down point of the full weekend was that they forgot about the pizza the first time and had to put another one in for us...

Ruling in Manchester now too?

Advantages: reasonable price if booked in advance
Disadvantages: none really

...As with my previous recent reviews this forms a part of my need to get a life ethos, and even though I live a short distance from Manchester on a planned night out on the town I decided it was better worth my time staying over than drunkely seeking the nightbus home. So armed with my trusty cashback paying link to a hotelbooking site I found this one for the night. I paid £50 for a doubleroom with no food included, the hotels standard rate is around £66 so a considerable saving especially given I only booked a few days before I wanted to stay. The hotel itself is seconds from Picadilly Gardens which is the location of a large bus station and a tram stop which runs between the two main train stations, it is also a few minutes walk from the main Bus Station in the city where the National Express coaches stop. The hotel has...

sachas hotel

Advantages: good price,great location
Disadvantages: no window

...****Sachas hotel- Manchester**** I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre. **Location/Getting there** This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station. The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places. You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car. **Reception/staff** Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out. When i got there i think i got the same...

Our Days in Manchester

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, good food, handy for the hospital
Disadvantages: We had one or two problems - see review

...As those of you who have been reading my 'about me' information will know, we have recently had to stay in Manchester to be near my mom who had to go into Manchester Royal Infirmary for an operation, which never happened as she wasn't strong enough to survive the anaesthetic but that's another story. As I had a lot of arrangements to make Dave decided to take over and find us a suitable hotel for the duration. He wanted to find something really nice but at a reasonable price as this was likely to be the nearest either of us would get to a holiday this year as I am full time carer to mom who has dementia. Anyway after much searching he finally found The Days Hotel at the end of Sackville Street nearest to the Mancunian Way and thus nearest to the Manchester Royal Infirmary. *** The Booking *** We decided to book a Work Zone...

Manchester Britannia Airport Hotel

Advantages: free parking
Disadvantages: see review

...I would like to take this opportunity in sharing my experience in the Manchester Airport Hotel. My friend and I had booked a room (no. 321) for one night in the Manchester Airport Hotel for 11th August 2007 at the cost of 49 British pounds. Upon unpacking I noticed that of the two towels provided in the bathroom, the smaller one, showed a large very yellow stain running down the middle of it, the larger one was acceptably clean. One additional large towel could be located in the wardrobe. I rang reception and requested further towels from the young lady answering the phone. Within 2 minutes the night Manager rang back and suggested that I "look in the wardrobe". Having stated that I had indeed already done this, the "manager" started a debate with me. Here I quote from the hotel services hotel information brochure "An additional set...
