Comfortable and quiet in Preston

Advantages: Easy access, Marriott standards and deals, very comfortable
Disadvantages: Some delays in restaurant

...great value at £23.50 per head. On the Saturday, after an enjoyable day out in Preston and Fleetwood, we had a great time sitting outside the front of the hotel with a drink, watching the wedding parties come and go, and the various musicians entertain them. We had been rather worried that we could not book our evening meal until 8pm, and this proved to be justified. Our theory is that is there is a 9pm watershed in most hotel restaurants and if you are not finished by then, things go pear-shaped. Sure enough, we enjoyed our starters and main courses but had to wait around 30 minutes for our desserts, although at least one couple waited longer and then they walked out. Again, the general food and service were great apart from that problem. There appeared to be a children's menu and the staff were particularly helpful with young guests...

A celebration hotel break.

Advantages: Near the motorway, wonderful food, comfortable rooms
Disadvantages: Nothing to do in Barton

Follow the A6 at the roundabout and head towards Garstang. The hotel is in the village of Garstang. It is 5 miles from Preston railway station and 35 from Manchester airport. ...Please note that whilst Ciao rates the Preston Swallow as a two star hotel - all publicity material relating to it, as well at the hotel itself, shows this as a three star hotel. WHY DID WE BOOK THE SWALLOW PRESTON? The weather turning nasty and the nights drawing in signal the time of year for RICHADA to play Santa Claus with the customers, going out and about, shaking hands and delivering calendars and company literature. Villa country House Hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean
Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems

...My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there. From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces. The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc) The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will...

West of the Wall by Marcia Preston. A good read.

Advantages: Good story set in an interesting period of time.
Disadvantages: Slightly unbelievable at times.

...We have recently travelled up to Scotland from Devon and on the way home needed to break up the 12 hour journey. We stopped at Premier Travel Inn - Preston East. This Travel Inn is literally right beside the southbound motorway near junction 31a northbound. We were travelling Southbound, so had to come off at junction 31, join the northbound and come off at junction 31a. PRICE ++++++ We paid £48 for a room which is Friday to Sunday rates. Monday to Thursday would cost £51. BOOKING ++++++++ We had an AA Road Atlas with us and also a directory of all the Premier Travel Inn's in the country. This is a very handy booklet as it has directions and location for each Travel Inn. I telephoned the Inn and was put through to a central number as they were busy. Best western Leyland Hotel

Advantages: food lovely, staff helpful, good for your money

...I stayed here when we were passing through, the hotel is very easy to find as its just off the M6. We hadn't booked a room so we went in off the off chance and there was availability. The car park is quite big, no trouble finding a space. There were alot of poeple staying there as well. Its a big hotel and the staff are all nice and very welcoming, we always saw staff cleaning and always doing something, never stood around talking. We had room service, the food was hot and alot to choose from. Served with tea/coffee and orange juice. The room was gorgeous and very quite even though its close to M6, we didn't hear traffic noise, We had a double bed which was comfy and it was more of a king size bed than a double. The cleaners knocked at our door at 9.00 to see if they could come in and clean and she was nice talking to us...

...Last month we were invited to attend an exhibition in Preston. The exhibition was for one evening only but we decided to take a weekend break and stay in a hotel. As always the first place I began my search for somewhere decent that wouldn?t break the budget was the Internet. My search for hotels in Preston threw up several possibilities. I really wanted somewhere with an indoor pool that was family friendly. The 4 star Preston Marriott stood out from the rest, as it not only had a pool and gym but from the photo I could see this hotel had more character than others in the area. The Preston Marriott also has 11 acres of grounds, perfect for letting my energetic 2-year-old run off some energy with his dad, whilst I could relax in the sauna! The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...
