St Annes NOT Lytham
Advantages: lovely
Disadvantages: rubbish when it rains
...Before I start there is one thing I need to get straight Lytham and St Annes are two different places with 2 different town centres and I am reviewing St Annes and not Lytham. (ok it is now a single borough but the people that live in these places see them as separate towns) If you put either St Annes or Lytham into google etc you will get information on both Lytham and St Annes
The full name is St Annes-On-the-Sea which is shortened to St Annes .
A Bit of History
Colonal Clifton the squire of Lytham wanted to develop the area known as 'West End' (That part is now St Annes) All there was in 1870 was Dunes, a railway from Blackpool to Lytham and some farms and cottages that paid rent to the Clifton's. They had seen the good of Lytham as a resort so saw the dunes as somewhere they...

St Deny's, the clean hotel for my dirty weekend!
Advantages: Polite and helpful staff, clean hotel.
Disadvantages: Bed a bot on the small side for my husband.
...After an incredible weekend away with my darling husband to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary, I have now decided to do my first and quite possibly my last hotel review!
Our destination of choice for this excursion was to be a place new to us, so of course the hotel had to be in a prime location at a price we could afford?fortunately we seemed to fall on our feet so to speak on both of these points.
Our destination, to be exact was York, and due to the sheer number of attractions available to us, we wanted a hotel reasonably central, or at least within walking distance of the few sights we wished to see.
After some extensive research, mostly through the designated York tourist board site, we came across the perfect hotel.
St Denys hotel, a small but very quaint hotel, housing 13 rooms only, but with it?s own parking...

Grange St. Paul's is an amazing hotel!
Advantages: Amazing, all round
Disadvantages: None!
...This hotel is undoubtedly the best I have ever stayed in. Here's why...
We booked this hotel as a top secret hotel through lastminute.com, paying £86 for the room for the night of Saturday 26th Septmeber 2009. For anyone who isn't familiar with lastminute's top secret system you basically get a star rating and description, but not the name of the hotel before you book. However, for London hotels if you put the description into Google you can easily find out which one matches the description, so we knew what we were getting before we booked.
We arrived by Tube from King's Cross station to St. Paul's Underground station. From here the hotel is fairly easy to find. Just follow the signs for the cathdral then look for Godliman Street on the other side of the cathedral and you can't miss it. The transport links to the hotel are good...

MERTON HOTEL, ST SAVIOUR JERSEY
Advantages: lovely food, polite staff, great swimming pool
Disadvantages: no sea view, small television
...My husband and I have just spent 5 nights at the Merton Hotel in St Saviour in Jersey, Channel Islands.
We stayed from Sundary 2 September 2007 to Friday 7 September 2007 and we had a great stay.
The Merton Hotel is owned by Seymour Hotels and is a 3 star hotel. Jersey have their own system of rating hotels which is different to the UK, but the ratings are of a very high standard.
We stayed in a double ensuite room and we had free half board for the price of bed and breakfast.
We booked through Condor Ferries and took our own car and paid a total of £769 for the trip (£79 of which was for the car ferry travel).
OUR BEDROOM
+++++++++++++++
Our room was plainly and pleasantly decorated, with chrome light fittings everywhere. The furniture was ample, being a built in wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers...

21st Amsterdam Hotel
Advantages: Mediocre location, cheap
Disadvantages: Could be cleaner, no towel!
...I went on holiday recently with a bunch of lads to celebrate our 21st Birthday....what we did in Amsterdam though for that is a different story xD
However on browsing the internet we originally settled on a hotel which was said to be literally 1 minute walk away from the city centre. However due to some stairs being described as the 'Stairs of Death'
We decided to upgrade to a 2* Hotel instead!
On arrival in Amsterdam, we found a booth at the train station where you typed in the address of your hotel, and it located it for you and printed it along with tram lines and numbers to get,
So we printed and thought with our luggage, oh that doesn't look far, we'll walk there. And truth be told, it was only what 20 minutes walk away from the centre. Maybe a bit more depending on your walking pace. But with the Luggage it took...

Clifton Arms Hotel
Advantages: The Best Hotel in Lytham St Annes.
Disadvantages: Whoa! is it pricey!
...of Victorian society. Its appearance is very much that of a grand old Victorian lady. The hotel however has moved well into the 21st Century.
There is limited parking for the horseless carriages at the front of the hotel, At the right hand side of the holel is access to a large well lit car park. There is only a single entrance and exit. Getting out to turn accross the flow of traffic can be difficult sometimes.
When you enter the hotel you are immediately struck by the muted colour scheme. There are well presented prints of local views in the foyer. There are the inevitable glass cases of quality goods by local retailers too. The desk does not immediately face you. There are open areas in the front part of the hotel. This lends an air of airyness. It could so easily be claustrophobic. The lighting is very efficient and the hotel is well lit...

A SUITABLE RESTING PLACE FOR St ALBAN
Advantages: Antiquity, Architecture, Free Entry, Guides, History.
Disadvantages: None Found
...It was one of those rare days that we "happened upon" St Albans and it's Cathedral. Having half a day to kill whilst the car was being serviced in Chiswick, West London, although our loan car, being electrically assisted, was, for now at least, exempt from the Central London Congestion Charge, we made the positive decision to leave "The Smoke" and search out somewhere a touch less claustrophobic.
THE ROMAN "CITY" OF ST ALBANS
Around twenty miles to the north of London is the delightful old town of St Albans, many years ago I had enjoyed a day out here, Mrs R in her seven years in England had never had the pleasure - but was not, for whatever reason over-excited at the prospect! Asking me 'what was there to see', my first and only real answer was the Cathedral. However, having had a very early start that morning, my thoughts...

ST IVES THIRTY EIGHT YEARS AND STILL MAGIC
Advantages: FAMILY FRIENDLY
Disadvantages: Still looking for any.
...First went to St Ives with my girl friend in 1969, will go this year in September with the SAME Girl now my wife for our 36th Visit.
The first time, we had arrived by the little train that runs from St Erth (On lthe main line) to St Ives, MAGIC. And we feel this is the best way to View St Ives. Hopefully it is Sunny (Always seems to be) sit on the RIGHT side of the train facing direction of Travel and glue your nose to the Window, Watch the miles of golden sands at Lelant then St IVES will appear floating on a sea of Blue water as good or even better than all the Med Resorts of Italy and the South of France.
As a young Couple we went out to explore that first night, and could not work out why which ever street we went down we seemed to come to the Sea. Then in daylight viewing from the Top of the town you see that it is...

A little gem in the shadow of the Tower and the Big one
Advantages: Very pleasant, relaxing and lots to do
Disadvantages: Not much night life if that's what you like
...I must be one of the only people who can't stand Blackpool - I find it tacky, noisy, expensive, a nightmare to park and I hate having to go.
We live fairly close to Blackpool (about 30 minutes away) and have a son who is always wanting to go to the Pleasure Beach there - when we do take him , we drop him off amidst the crowds of girls in pink t-shirts with smutty slogans on and we spend our time at the much nicer Lytham St Annes - just a few minutes up the coast.
Lytham St Annes is actually a combination of Lytham, St Annes ( proper name St Annes on Sea), Ansdell and Fairhaven and is situated just three miles south of Blackpool.
In complete contrast to Blackpool this is a far more relaxed area where you can enjoy peaceful parks, beautiful gardens and admire some beautiful buildings.
The population of this area tends to be...

Cardinal Hotel - Not Bad, Not Bad
Advantages: Reception, Balcony, Breakfast Bar, Rooms
Disadvantages: First Impression
...expensive journey. Luckily the return trip wasn't the same but it's not like you can argue with them nor do anything. So with my first impression of the locals engraved in stone in my mind I got out of the taxi to find the Cardinal Hotel, St Peters.
- The Address
The address suggests that the hotel is basically on the door step of the Vatican its self. I have no idea why it was so similar to the address of the actual St Peters because the Cardinal Hotel is on the out skirts of the city. Even one or two of the taxi drivers who had been around for a while weren't sure where it was.
To get to the hotel you have to turn off a main road after avoiding some mad traffic (that's how they drive there) into a back street which looks like it has taken a beating over the years and could do with someone tearing it apart and relaying the concrete...
