The Felbridge Hotel, Sussex
Advantages: Furnishings and decor brand new, every detail considered
Disadvantages: Restaurant and wine list expensive
...The Felbridge Hotel, East Grinstead, Sussex - 'four star luxury grade' - changed hands this year and has been completely refurbished to a very high standard in a contemporary style - all chocolate, beige and cream. Maybe not to everyone's taste - not very cosy and perhaps lacking a bit of character - but I loved it. Everything clean, shiny and brand spanking new. It is situated next to a main road but this didn't really detract from the hotel and we didn't notice any noise. The road is quite hard to cross on foot and it isn't easy to turn right against the flow of traffic - although we managed ok.
I booked for a weekend break in August, staying with my other half, on a special deal of £110 for executive double room including full English breakfast. Standard rooms, luxury studios and suites are also available - please check...

The Garden on the Downs
Advantages: Easy to get to and small and shady enough to enjoy without getting exhausted in the heat.
Disadvantages: Hilly in places.
...This is a real gem of a West Sussex garden, particularly so because you don?t have to pay to look at it!
A few facts about the Garden:-
Highdown Gardens was created 90 years? ago by Sir Frederick and Lady Stern who set out to prove that you could grow a garden on chalk. The garden was built in an old chalkpit that looked over the South Downs, and the chalk sides of the pit give a very attractive backdrop to some parts of the garden. All the plants and trees growing there are tolerant of soil that is very alkali and the gardens have been given a ?green flag? status by the Civic Trust and regarded as a National Collection.
As a general rule, I?m not very interested in formally planted gardens. I love the ?rough and tumble? colour and shape of informal and wild flower gardens. Highdown Gardens suits me. There are lots...

Radisson Edwardian Sussex Hotel
Advantages: Location, comfort, friendly
Disadvantages: Small bathroom, minibar prices
...I stayed in the Sussex hotel over Easter and had a great time.
The hotel is located about 1 minute from Marble Arch underground station and one block past Selfridges, so if you like to shop this hotel is ideally located for you.
It's quite an impressive building from the outside and although the entrance looks pretty none discript, when you walk into reception it turns out to a lovely modern hotel.
I was greeted by a very friendly and competent Receptionist, who gave me all the info I needed and checked me into my room with no hassles at all. Security is quite high as you need the key card to move around the building and to work the lifts.
The room itself has very modern decor and very comfortable furnishings. The bed is so comfy, by far has to be the best hotel bed I have ever slept in, and I stay away from home quite...

Bilderberg Garden Hotel I Love You
Advantages: Wodnerful Staff, Clean, Classy, Good Location - Everything
Disadvantages: I have not a bad word to say about them!
...After a very unfortunate start to our city break to Amsterdam my friend and I arrived at this hotel. I want to tell you all the shortened version of what actually happened...
Our Tour Operator booked us into the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Den Haag instead of the hotel in Schiphol [where the airport is]. Not wanting to miss out on the sights of Amsterdam, and not wanting to travel 60km each way between the sights and the hotel we made our way to Amsterdam. After about 300EUR in transport, conmen taxi drivers, and "Sorry we're full, good luck!" from ever hotelier we were directed to the Garden Hotel by their sister hotel Jan Luyken.
We arrived to see a hotel in a quiet area next to a canal with ducks and boats...absolutely gorgeous area! Lovely houses, lots of plants and trees and of course the ducks and geese! The hotel had a red...

The Garden House WAS a Good Hotel
Advantages: This was a very good hotel in it's day
Disadvantages: Burnt down in 1999
...Review of The Garden House Hotel, Folkestone, Kent, England
You will note that my title for this review states that the Garden House Hotel WAS a good hotel.
So why is the word WAS in capitals?
Well, Ciao is a little out dated as this hotel actually burnt down in 1999!
The Hotel
I was born and brought up in Folkestone, Kent and remember this hotel as one of the grand old Victorian buildings that used to dominate my home town before the property developers moved in and turned us into a concrete jungle. Folkestone is a seaside town on the South East coast of England. It is around 70 miles from London and around 16 miles from the city of Canterbury. The cross Channel port of Dover is approximately 7 miles along the coast. Folkestone was a very popular holiday destination from the time of Queen Victoria.
The Garden House...

Not King minos's palace but a nice family resort - Camari Gardens
Advantages: Reasonably priced, clean, accom, two pools, free sunbeds, free internet
Disadvantages: A bit quiet for tennagers and certainly not clubs and bars bearby if you like that
...WHERE IS THIS PLACE?
Camari Gardens hotel apartments are situated in Gerani, near Rethymnon in Crete.
This is a smallish family run resort with just 65 apartments and studios with 2 pools, a small playground, restaurant, reception/meeting area with book exchange library and a few electronic games and computers, a laundry, a small supermarket set in pleasant gardens overlooking the sea.

OUR STORY:
We booked this 2 week holiday through Thomas Cook holidays but prior to booking I read a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor. There were no really unfavourable comments about this resort and the vast majority were really positive so I chose this place on that basis. The holiday was a package including flights from East Midlands and transfers from Heraklion to the resort.
In this...

Grand View Garden Hotel
Advantages: beautiful gardens free to visit, good location, very clean and polite staff
Disadvantages: expensive internet
..., apple, orange juice and water to!
So you could really stock up as it was all you can eat and head out with a full belly to keep you going all day.
When you leave the hotel there is a car bay where taxis and bus pull up on. If you stand out there some of the staff will call a taxi cab over for you to take you where ever you wanted. The heart of Beijing (Tian Square) was a short 5minute taxi ride and cost no more than £2 for 4 of us!!
When we came home from our day out instead of eat in the hotel we walked 10 minutes up the street to the local restuarants. The hotel food was the same price as you would expect over here in a posh restaurant, and we also felt it wouldnt be such a good experience if we ate their instead of local places.
Every meal we had out was AMAZING and so cheap! a meal for four including drinks never came to more...

Thumbs up for the Gardens!
Advantages: Great Location, Nice Rooms
Disadvantages: Outside Appearance, Service not great
...of the night will be long after the last train.
Anyway, the other hotels were all full or too expensive for this particular night and I was on the lookout for something central in the same kind of price range. I noticed The Gardens hotel on Piccadilly as I walked passed but it looked a bit grotty so I carried on going. There are many other budget hotels in that area so I popped my head in a couple but with no joy. On the way back to the car, (which by now, in my mind would be long since ticketed/clamped/towed away) I thought I would just have a nose in the Gardens and see what it was like. I think I was expecting a hostel type place as the garish red sign outside is off-putting but, surprisingly, it actually looked quite civilised inside, lots of plants, a bit old fashioned but quaint old fashioned rather than neglected old fashioned if you know...

More than tulips in the Amsterdam Garden
Advantages: Luxury, comfort, and being treated like royalty - plus wonderful food.
Disadvantages: Makes other hotels seem ordinary
...A November holiday is not everyone's ideal - nor was it ours, but 'needs must.'... and it was our 30th wedding anniversary !
Since Easyjet were starting their Belfast to Amsterdam journey, it was decided that a break for a few days in Amsterdam was a possibility.... though for some reason colleagues in hospital and church kept teasing us like mad about coffee shops and red lights for some reason !!!??
1 LOCATION :
The Garden Hotel is part of the Bildeberg group, and this particular hotel is located in the Museum area of Amsterdam.
Basically that meant it was a pleasant walk in the crisp November air to get to the Van Gogh museum, and then a bit longer walk into the centre of the city.
There are the legendary trams and the service is so brilliant, we used them a fair bit too. O for public transport in UK like...

Tropicana Amarante Garden Palms Hotel, Sharm Egypt
Advantages: Great food, clean and friendly.
Disadvantages: No beach, lost sister Hotel Grand Oasis, the 5.30am sunbed securing
...Just returned from this hotel, very nice clean friendly hotel with a fantastic restaurant, but my only gripe is that the hotel is no longer part of the 'Tropicana' group and as such the deal is off as far as using the 'Tropicana Grand Oasis' facilities and beach! It's now owned by 'Amarante'
This makes a huge crimp in your stay firstly as a beach user or snorkeller as Garden Palms has no beach and the bus service run by the hotel now takes you to a local public beach about 20 mins away, as you can imagine the beach is crammed full, so it is difficult to get shade when you need it and it's not particularly clean, second problem that arises from the 'no beach' situation is that if you want to sit around the pool a bed needs to be secured with your towel by 6am, this is made a problem by not enough beds for everyone and no-where else to...
