IBIS hotel - Swindon

...My wife and I stayed at the IBIS hotel in West Swindon last weekend as we were going to a friends 40th birthday party that evening and neither us fancied the lengthy drive home in the early hours of the morning. We booked in for 1 night, planning to arrive on Saturday afternoon and leave on Sunday morning. We chose the IBIS because we wanted a budget hotel and because it was located very close to where the party was being held. ...I genuinely used to get excited about going to stay in a hotel, don't ask me why? It probably stems back to my youth when hotels meant holidays and a little adventure. Of course now I'm allegedly grown up it staying in hotels has become a little more mundane, and this is one adjective I would use to describe the Village Hotel and Leisure Club Swindon. Village Hotel & Leisure Clubs are a chain of hotels across the country owned by the De Vere group, the chain that owns the rather famous Belfry. However I feel as though the one visited in Swindon is at the other end of the market. Swindon - Roundabout capital of the world

Advantages: Good jod opportunities and shedloads of pubs
Disadvantages: Not many parks for kids and all the roundabouts

...I've lived in Swindon for most of my life, apart from 5 years spent in Somerset. When I was a lass, I hated this place but moving away for so long and returning has made me love my little home, roundabouts and all. Even the hated 'magic' roundabout which caused my mum to fail her driving test when she stopped right in the middle of it, traffic coming at her from all ways. The poor lamb has never recovered and never driven again. Swindon is the richest place in the uk, outside of London, and has job opportunities galore. Many people gravitate here, and to cope with the demand it's crammed with housing, but has a healthy mix of greenery and buildings. The area I live in is beautiful. DES VERE'Y SCRUMPTIOUSLY ROMANTIC!!

Advantages: Close to the M4, free parking on site, superb leisure facilities, spacious comfortable rooms

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
