The New Forest

Advantages: Surrounded by beauty and wildlife
Disadvantages: I haven't come across any yet

.... We also have deer living here, which my husband has been lucky enough to see, driving home from work in the small hours, but you are very lucky if you see them. The New Forest is also great if you are a keen walker, cyclist or you enjoy horse riding. There are plenty of places to stay here. B&B's, Hotels, Guest Houses, and plenty of campsites. I stayed in a very small place called Ladycross Stables based in Brockenhurst (which I found by accident on the internet). This is a great place if you have a horse to bring. It is an equestrian centre, but anyone can stay there. It only has two cottages, and is pretty much always booked up, so book in advance. Is a lovely place to stay for a self catering holiday. It is clean, well equipped, and the lady who runs it is very helpful. People who stay at Ladycross do tend to return...

Forest Park Hotel - Platres - Cyprus - Simply Brilliant

Advantages: Family Friendly - Exceptional Service - Great Value and Location
Disadvantages: None

...other tourist hot spots, but also makes for some challenging walking (both uphill and down). The town is well served by the usual amenities ? it?s chock full of taverna?s and eateries of varying distinction, as well as craft shops, tat shops, a couple of local banks, a pharmacy, a tourist information office based at the town hall (useful for local excursions) and a police station. There are also a couple of small arcades, which have rides for toddlers and young children, air hockey, table football video games and other amusements. Review of Forest Park Hotel, Cyprus

  The New Forest, only 900 years old.

Advantages: See wild ponies and if you are lucky some deer.
Disadvantages: Busy in the summer holidays, public transport is poor.

...way from anywhere like Beaulieu Road Station (one hotel, one pub and four houses) and only the slow trains will stop at these. ~By Bus/Coach~ The local scheduled bus service in the forest is pretty poor with it being on the edge of two rival companies. The two companies being Solent Blue Line and Wilts and Dorset. For the South West portion of the New Forest you are best sticking with Wilts and Dorset, their service is mainly in the Bournemouth area and along the southern part of the New Forest to Lymington. They have express services going straight through the forest but they only stop intermittently and are really for getting to Southampton from Bournemouth. They are however very good routes along the urban areas, so you can to get to the beaches between Christchurch and Lymington easily. Solent Blue line services are for Southampton...

Gorgeous New Forest Hotel

Advantages: Beautiful hotel and friendly staff
Disadvantages: You have to book a long time in advance!

...the service and standard of the rooms is excellent at the Rufus House. You have to stay a minimum of 2 nights at the weekend, this is a standard policy across most hotels in the New Forest, and for bank holidays, valentines day etc. you have to book pretty far in advance as it gets booked up extremely quickly! I think they have quite a few regular customers who return year after year. It's in a perfect location if you're visiting the new forest - Lyndhurst is the main thoroughfare of the Forest so you'll have easy access to everywhere, and its a nice little town in itself with a numbe rof pubs and restaurants including italian, chinese and indian....

...the south is the yachting centre of Lymington facing the rustic Isle of Wight. The Park Headquarters are located at Lyndhurst. It attracts a goodly number of naturalists,campers ,cyclists,and "soft" adventure tourists,day visitors from the nearby towns of Southampton,Christchurch,Poole and Bournemouth, and an increasing number of foreign visitors. There are a number of well regulated camping sites and not surprisingly campers are pretty thick on the ground during the warm summer months. There are some well marked trails for hikers and the New Forest Otter,Owl and Wildlife Conservation Park is well worth a visit. If you are not into camping-and the British weather is notoriously fickle- you should not despair too much for the villages and towns of the New Forest have some very nice country-style hotels and homely bed and breakfast...

A rare find - a quiet hotel in New Delhi

Advantages: Calm professional staff, quiet setting
Disadvantages: If you can't get it at a bargain rate, it's not worth the price.

...I could be sure that - despite the rather reasonable price of around £65 for the night - it would be of a good standard. Japanese tourists don't DO 'slumming it'. I believe it's now no longer part of the Nikko group but I can't entirely confirm that and the new website shows no discernable changes to the hotel where we stayed. Arrival and Check-in The night before we'd been with our tour group at the horrible Jaypee Siddarth in the north west of the city. We booked a taxi to take us to the Metropolitan which took about 15 to 20 minutes. I wasn't expecting anything too marvellous but when we arrived we were quite impressed. To put it into context it's nowhere close to the sublime gorgeousness of the Imperial but it beat the pants off the Siddarth. The blast of air conditioned air as we entered the lobby was more than welcome since...

Dorset/Hampshire Southampton is a favourite base for the new forest and the south coast; hotels can be much more affordable in Southampton, more so than the new forest and Dorset. The new forest hotels and accommodation are very expensive, there?s no better base than Southampton for touring the new forest. Those who have never visited the new forest and the south coast of Hampshire and Dorset then I recommend it. Staying in Southampton is for the cruise liner buffs, but it is a fantastic site especially if you are lucky enough to take site of the QM2, it?s a must for everyone. You can visit the Isle of white from here on the red funnel ferries for in the region of £36 for the day and if you go for a week then just pay the one way ticket. Lodge in the Forest

...The Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in its own grounds. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Lyndhurst in the heart of The New Forest in Hampshire. It is part of a chain of 4 hotels that come under the banner of New Forest Country House Hotels. This means that each hotel can be centrally booked and have the same cost and promotions. The guests have use of the other hotels' facilities but this is not that relevant as, even though they are all in The New Forest, they are not exactly round the corner from each other and anyway the facilities are much the same in them all. My family, including two small children, stayed half board within a midweek break promotion. This meant that the children were accommodated...

Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!

Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts. Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. **ABOUT THE HOTEL** The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. ...On Sunday I was at a loose end with what to do with my children, girls aged 6 and 2. All weekend they had been getting on each other's nerves and my wife was at breaking point. As the weather was reasonably bright we decided to get out of the house. After a quick search on the Internet for somewhere nearby, we packed a picnic and headed off to the New Forest. The place we had chosen to visit was Longdown Activity Farm. The farm is open daily between 10am to 5pm from 12 Feb - 30 Oct and weekends only in November and December. Last admission is at 4pm. Getting there was really easy; we followed the M27 to Southampton, picked up the M271 and then followed the signposts from there. If you know the New Forest, it is between Totten and Ashurst off the A35. The car park is a large gritted area, which at a guess could hold over 100...
