Hotel Sidi Saler, Valencia
Advantages: Sea views, quiet, value for money
Disadvantages: a little remote
...My wife and I spent a week here in October 2005 for our silver wedding anniversary. We had a great time.
We booked direct with the hotel via the internet, got a good deal of about £120 per night B&B in a double room (cheaper than travel agents). All rooms have balconies and sea views and are well furnished, usual 4* standard.
We were presented with a fruit bowl and champagne on arrival from the director, a very nice welcoming touch.
Hotel has private outside pool and tennis courts with lovely secluded gardens. There is a gym with indoor pool and spa, we never used as it was too hot, even in October it was over 30 degrees.
Bar serves snacks which are reasonable, bar prices the same, what you'd expect in 4* hotels abroad. We didn't sample the restaurant but the menu looked good quality if a little pricey. My tip would be to...

Harbouring a hotel........ Poole
Advantages: Excellent Views, Good value for money (when we stayed n e way)
Disadvantages: The heat, rooms very warm
...We recently stayed at the Thistle Hotel in Poole and have to say that of the many hotels we have stayed this must rank amongst the top 5. Based right on the harbour, and I mean right on it, about 20 feet, the view of the boats coming / going, the yachts and the general ambience of the place was excellent. Our room on the second floor was spacious with a separate seating area and very clean. The bed was good to firm and storage was exceptional, good storage was needed as the wife insisted on taking 16, yes sixteen different tops for a two night stay. The bathroom was light and airy and the room in generally had all the things you expect, i.e. Trouser Press, Shower, Bath, Iron, Hair Drier etc etc..
Of all the good things there are, as always, a couple of drawbacks. Firstly was the heat, it was just so warm in the hotel in...

experience at this hotel
Advantages: views, service, staff
Disadvantages: room , old , needs updating
...i stayed at this hotel over the winter period of 2008 , and i just found this place to be the worst hotel i hadf ever stayed in , dont get me wrong the staff were great but the standard of my room was horrible , out of date tatty and the restraunt wasnt so up to date either , service was great , the views were amazing and the locals were very fiendly, the hotel is based next to the quay side in poole over looking the second biggest natural harbour in the world , with the national park (brownsea island ) in view it is a place you need to see , overall i did enjoy my stay here even though there was no heating in my room and i was brought an elecric heater as a replacement i payed £89 for a single room , i would like to say this is a great place for familys that like a quite restfull holiday with a peaceful atmosphere, thistle hotel...

Nice Hotel, Great Price.
Advantages: Clean, Friendly, Ideally Located, With A Nice Roof Top Pool & Lounging Area
Disadvantages: Rooms Pretty Basic, Not Much Going On Inside
...After visiting Barcelona for a few days, me and my friend caught a train to Valencia and stayed in the expo and was plesantly suprised.
Its location was excellent it was literally around the corner from the tube station, and was within throwing distance of the main shopping centre which was full of restaraunts and shops!
Compared to the hotel we stayed in at Barcelona, this was not as stylish nor as posh but with its price it was def nice, clean, and fabulously located with easy access to the transport links. It did take a few minutes to get into our room mind as the door was stuck but after a bit of tough love we got in, reported it and it was sorted quickly! After a few hours we decided to catch the tram to the beach, and found the stop about 10 minutes walk away although finding it was a bit of a challenge as it seemed to be in...

hated our first hotel - loved EXPO
Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: a popular hotel for school trips
...a hotel even if the decor was basic (this didnt bother us as we never spend much time in our room anyway there was so much to do in valencia). The staff were very pleasent and we made friends with the night waitress and reception staff as they often chatted to us as we stumbled in a 7 in the morning. Our price included buffet breakfast which never ran out of food and all the options were always available. One point I would make is that when we were staying there were a few school trips and on some occations they did seem to take over some parts of the hotel such as the pool and lobby. The staff at the hotel did their best to control the situation but i felt they werent getting much support from the teachers so on some occations the children did become a bit much (school trips included older children, 12 - 16). Other then that the Hotel is...

Valencia - perfect for all!
Advantages: fun for all ages, great shopping, weather, food, nightlife.
Disadvantages: In the summer months, make sure your hotel has a pool or you might find the heat a little too much
...extremely hot though, so make sure your hotel has a pool.
Value for money - shopping and food is great value for money in Valencia. However, if you go out drinking you will notice that in some places drink prices are surprisingly high. If you're on a budget check out the student areas around Blasco Ibañez for some cheaper bars and clubs.
- Things to see and do -
Valencia has everything you would expect to find in a city of its size, and much more! Plenty of shopping, bars, clubs, beaches and plenty for the kids, along with heaps of museums, galleries and other tourist attractions.
- Sights -
The old town has beautiful architecture to offer. The stunning cathedral which overlooks Plaze de la Reina is definitely worth a visit, and claims to house the Holy Grail! The Miquelet tower offers incredible views over the city which is...

Valencia and Lladro factory
Advantages: Beautiful architecture, many shops and restaurants, history abounds but modern too
Disadvantages: can't really think of any-drivers beware!
...just south of the city at Hotel Sidi Saler (see my review) which was excellent. They offer a free minibus to the city centre so that saved a bit on driving and meant i could have glass or three of wine.
Shopping-
Lots of shops for the wife to feel at home. Range from designer shops to antiques to department stores, and make a visit to the huge indoor market hall selling all kinds of food stuffs.
Eating out-
Restaurants to cover all tastes, McDonalds to haute cuisine. But don't leave without trying a paella. Valencia is the birthplace of the dish evidently and particulalry at lunch time all the local business people can be seen in the bars with theirs. We liked the chicken best but the variety is endless.
There are also Italian resuarants that serve wonderful pasta dishes and many small bars with tapas.
Drink prices are...

More to Valencia than oranges
Advantages: History, good food and attractions
Disadvantages: Maybe not geared up for tourism
...From out of fluffy white clouds, we descend to a wonderful view of an azure blue Mediterranean sea, with 8 cargo and container ships dotted near the shore... we make the turn for a straight path into the airport. Over a massive port we fly, where tiny little containers look like dolly lollies, tidily stacked ready for export; a very large ship is berthed at the portside with four gigantic cranes busy loading; now there's a school, set amid a neighbourhood of orange/earthy coloured homes, a huge graveyard and thousands and thousands of industrial buildings....with what looks like market gardens and orange groves spattered all around.
It's a tidy and interesting approach to Valencia Airport and the start of a short break to Spain's third largest city, one steeped in history and nowadays mainly a commerce centre for a vast range...

Family outing to Valencia
Advantages: Fantastic Bus and Tram System and Stunning Architecture
Disadvantages: Sometimes just a little to HOT
...Travelling
Valencia is in the south eastern region of Spain and only a 100km's or so from Alicante. It has so much to offer for a holiday but is better known as a business city and is relatively quiet in the summer months.
Valencia is not your normal Spanish holiday by the sea, as we are not really beach people. We found a central city hotel, the Expo; this is a 3 star hotel close to the old town and shopping centre in the northern side of the city. Easyjet flew us to Valencia from Bristol, which went surprisingly smoothly after all the stories you hear about and TV programmes that are shown (Very impressed with the service). I would highly recommend Bristol it was easy to find, easy to use the car park and buses, quiet and actually enjoyable. It added to the holiday rather than ruined in the way bigger airports can...

VALENCIA IN MARCH: A MUST SEEN! (FALLAS)
Advantages: The Festivity is amazing
Disadvantages: almost the whole city centre is closed to traffic, but we have feet to walk!
...Update: Just added pictures in XXL scale. Just have a look if you feel the review is too long to read it all! Thank you.
VALENCIA AND "FALLAS" : MUST SEEN
I lived in Valencia (Spain) for about 5 years, and I have to say that being Spanish, but from the North, this region has nothing to do with my own region. There are people that think that Spain has almost the same culture everywhere, but this is not completely true, and some regions have a specific culture and events that you will not find anywhere else in Spain. This is the case of Valencia, especially when we talk about their main festivity: the "Fallas" .
WHAT ARE THE FALLAS?
Basically, although there would be lots to say, the Fallas is an old tradition that has changed through time. There is a week when they put in the streets hundreds...
