'Hotel' My A*se
Advantages: Central, cheap, free 'breakfast'
Disadvantages: Tatty, grubby, impolite staff, very busy at all times
...Though I don't like to believe it, some things in life simply are too good to be true. I booked to stay for 3 nights in Melbourne and my criteria were:
· cheap
· my own room (a backpacker hostel was ok, but a dorm room was not)
· centrally located
· preferably with breakfast included
With these things in mind, I surfed the net until I came across the Hotel Bakpak. It had its own website...

Marvellous Melbourne
Advantages: The Most Liveable City in the World
Disadvantages: A long way away from practically everywhere else!
.... Here, as elsewhere, Melbourne presents some pretty gorgeous possibilities for shopping and eating. Neat little Tokyo-style Sushi bars are dime a dozen, as are tiny, tucked-away Florentine-style cafes, some seating as few as eight or ten customers? Melbourne is a city of immigrants, many of them relatively recent, and it shows. Melbourne's China Town, situated principally along Little Bourke Street...

Advantages: Good pub grub, good value

...Bosun's Pub & Grill is a traditional English style pub based in Knysna, on South Africa's Garden Route. It is based near our hotel, but this was not particularly centrally located so a lot of locals would visit here I suspect, or people with holiday homes in the area (it is close to the beach).
The pub is styled older than it actually is, and there is a verandah with tables and chairs...
