highly recommended hotpoint RL175 fridge

Advantages: Matches my other appliances, hugh fridge capacity.
Disadvantages: door handle plastic and brakes easy.

...I bought my hotpoint fridge in dec 07 as my other hotpoint decided to turn itself from a fridge into a freezer, so far it's excellent. can't belive how much it holds. It has 4 removable and easy to clean toughened glass shelves, bottle rack which can hold 5 bottles (excellent for my wine stash), easy to use temperature control dial at the front, a hugh fruit and vegetable drawer at the bottom with a separate meat compartment to store the meat in so it is not in contact with fresh things, 5 shelves in the door which 3 are removable so you can change the position of them, 1 with a lidded tray so you can store eggs which is removable and 1 at the bottom to store more bottles eg milk and big bottles. It has an automatic defrosting function. Overall so far i have had to replace the door handle which is plastic, due to the fact that my kids...

Should be called Coldpoint

Advantages: large capacity, silent running, A rated, relaible temp gauge, even freezing, easy to wipe clean
Disadvantages: none really unless you dont have space for one

...with the two types of freezers meant that when the sales were on and we had a few spare pennies, and the second freezer spluttered and then permanently died, I had a very good idea of what I wanted. I wanted a large capacity upright freezer, one that I could use to fit an entire month's worth of groceries in when used in tandem with my fridge freezer. I do literally mean an entire month's worth, too. I buy absolutely everything in one go, including fresh milk and bread, all which go into the freezer. I wanted the freezer to be frost free so that I could avoid the faff of defrosting it, and I wanted it A rated. In addition, I knew I wanted a Hotpoint or Whirlpool, having experienced the very best of customer service previously when needing a repair from these two companies, not to mention the low cost of out of warranty repair by an engineer...

Hotpoint WMD960 Polar White.

Advantages: Digital Display, Customisable, Memory, Delay Start
Disadvantages: Wash times longer than stated, smaller porthole.

...have found so far the 30 minute time saver wash takes around 45-50 minutes and I can honestly say I don't know why! I am pleased with the size of the drum, the porthole is smaller than some of the other Aqualtis machines, which is a shame but the drum itself is a very nice size. Although I have not yet tried any "large items" looking at it, I do believe that it would comfortably hold a double duvet. Not tested this of course, so wouldn't like to say for certain. After installation by Currys I had a slight technical problem with the water supply, after calling the Hotpoint Service line I was given very helpful and prompt information - they were also good enough to tell me NOT to call out their engineers for the problem as they felt it may not be the issue I thought and if that was the case they would have to charge me for the callout...

Hotpoint WDD960 excellent for families with children

Advantages: washes well, dries well, quiet (when properly installed)
Disadvantages: installation instructions could be clearer

...and, before purchasing, I read many reviews that commented on its very low noise levels. Installation I would strongly advise getting this installed professionally, if you can. If you can't, then make sure you absolutely do not miss out on taking out the transit bolts at the back. The installation instructions is not entirely clear about this, and does not include a picture to confirm that you're taking out the right thing. We ended up running it for a couple of months with the transit bolts in place. It made huge amounts of noise and was practically taking off whenever it spun. We spent hours sitting on the floor trying to adjust the feet to make it completely level. Eventually, I found a small bit on the Hotpoint website with a picture of the bolts and we pulled it out and discovered that they were there still. In fact, one...
