Hotpoint HDR 190 Drawer Fridge

Advantages: Looks great, Quiet, Can see all contents
Disadvantages: Too expensive, No interior light????, Quality control suspect

...Just bought this fridge, didn't realise it was built in Italy or I woulndn't have bothered as I know the cars they build are all looks and very tinny and unreliable. £800 for a fridge inc. the drawer fronts and you dont even get a light inside the bloody thing. Just taken me 2 nights to set this up straight as the drawer fronts were warped and would not adjust up properly. Had to pack them with cardboard to make them line up. Out of the box the drawers were badly misaligned and one adjuster was not fitted correctly so the attention to quality control at the factory is not up to much. It looks great fitted but it is definatly not worth the money so if you want my advice pls consider all options before going for this model. Good points: 1 Looks great 2 Allows more worktop area than an upright fridge and can see contents better 3 Quiet...

...This year everything seems to be breaking down, this time it was the turn of the fridge. Panic immediately set in, where were we going to get a fridge at very short notice, it was a warm Saturday night and it was full from the ritual Saturday morning shop. I am sure all electrical appliances sit there day after day just waiting for the worst possible moment to breakdown. I grabbed my Littlewoods catalogue as I knew they had a "3-day delivery" if you were prepared to pay an extra charge of £20, plus the fact that their order department was open seven days a week. There were only three larder fridges to choose from. A Swan at £99.99, Hotpoint at £179.99 and Hinari at £134.99. ...Why I chose Hotpoint... I bought a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer in 2000 purely for that fact that I liked the look of it. It was also made in Great Britain and was a very well known make that my parents trusted and had never had problems with. Product A 50/50 split fridge on top of freezer, fairly economical white fridge freezer with nice curves and sturdy appearance which blended in to my kitchen pleasingly. Advantages It worked quietly, It had ample storage space (draws and shelving), and looked to be of sound quality as nothing looked easily breakable. Disadvantages By 2002 it had needed repairs. I had the freezer door replaced 3 times as the seals on the hinge side had become trapped and bent in the door causing it to freeze up and allowing the freezer to work overtime. Warranty covers parts on all Hotpoints up to 6yrs old...

...This fridge is larger than your standard size and is well laid out with the option of changing shelf levels and moving the holders on the door to accommodate different sized items. There is a large cheese storage area which will easily hold family sized blocks of your favourite cheddar, 2 moveable door compartments and a deep bottle holder that can hold upto 4, 2 litre bottles of milk. It comes with 3 glass shelves that have little lips at the back to stop food falling off. one shelf is fixed about the substancial veg box and the other 2 can be placed at 5 different levels. It has various settings for coldness and a little sticker inside to indicate optimal temperature, the only thing I don't like is if you go a little colder than the normal setting food does tend to freeze if it is near the back. ...Once we finally got this new model, which we had to wait over two months for, we found it really nice as it was nice and big, bigger than all the other fridge/freezer that we had seen. We thought that this machine was going to last us quite a few years. All you have to do is plug it in and just get on with your life. We have now had this fridge/freezer for 16 months. We had the engineer back within the first year 5 times as the thing stopped working, then the fridge started to thaw out and then started freezing, yes the fridge. We put a thermometer in there to check the fridge, and it went up to 10degrees C and down to -3 degrees C. We have now had the engineer out so many times now and we have lost count. ...have found so far the 30 minute time saver wash takes around 45-50 minutes and I can honestly say I don't know why! I am pleased with the size of the drum, the porthole is smaller than some of the other Aqualtis machines, which is a shame but the drum itself is a very nice size. Although I have not yet tried any "large items" looking at it, I do believe that it would comfortably hold a double duvet. Not tested this of course, so wouldn't like to say for certain. After installation by Currys I had a slight technical problem with the water supply, after calling the Hotpoint Service line I was given very helpful and prompt information - they were also good enough to tell me NOT to call out their engineers for the problem as they felt it may not be the issue I thought and if that was the case they would have to charge me for the callout...

...I bought my hotpoint fridge in dec 07 as my other hotpoint decided to turn itself from a fridge into a freezer, so far it's excellent. can't belive how much it holds. It has 4 removable and easy to clean toughened glass shelves, bottle rack which can hold 5 bottles (excellent for my wine stash), easy to use temperature control dial at the front, a hugh fruit and vegetable drawer at the bottom with a separate meat compartment to store the meat in so it is not in contact with fresh things, 5 shelves in the door which 3 are removable so you can change the position of them, 1 with a lidded tray so you can store eggs which is removable and 1 at the bottom to store more bottles eg milk and big bottles. It has an automatic defrosting function. Overall so far i have had to replace the door handle which is plastic, due to the fact that my kids...

...I was looking for a certain type of fridge freezer. It had to be the correct height and width for a pre built storage area in my garage. This one fitted ( excuse the pun ) perfectly. I ordered this one from Co-Op electrical online on the 27th of December and it was deliverd on the 29th. I paid £230 for the product which included delivery, pick up of old product would be a further £25 if you required it. The F/F itself was white in colour, had 4 freezer drawers. Up above in the fridge this had 2 glass shelves with storage under one shelve and door storage as well. Clean and bright is how I would describe it, even though it was only going to be in my garage. The energy rating was A, this was important in choosing the F/F as well, every penny counts as they say. You are getting a good reliable name for a good price....

...I have had this fridge freezer for seven months and haven't had any problems with it. The fridge capacity is enough for a family of four (2 teenagers!) and stays at a stable temperature. It is kept in a utility room which can get very cold, but I haven't noticed any changes in internal temp. Condensation does build up on the back but drains through the bottom hole. The freezer capacity is maybe a little less than I would have liked but means I have to use food more quickly - probably a good thing!! One major niggle are the ice cube trays on the front of the freezer drawers, they seem like good idea but are very small and you can't see how much water to put in. My son bashes the tube on the worktop to dislodge the cubes, which is REALLY annoying and probably not good for the top or ice cube holder. The motor is extremely quiet, in fact...
