Hotpoint Washing Machine

Advantages: quick,energy efficient,quiet
Disadvantages: Quite Unreliable

...Lets face it it's a minefield out there when trying to choose the right Washing Machine for the right household.When you look buying one its a number of things price,drum capacity and Energy Rating.Price is probably the most influential factor in your purchase when i bought this one it cost me around £280 about 3 years ago i think you can get it for half that now.Although i would't say it has been repair man free it has'nt gave me that much bother partly because i have one of these accident repair insurance policy thingies.So far in 3 years i have needed to replace 2 drum belts,a new filter,a new PCB Module and a few other technical bits without cost to myself .The repair man said in all the parts on one visit came to £290 alone thats a new Washing Machine!! When new its fairly easy to install if you have some basic plumbing skills...

...I have had this washer dryer for three years...In my opinion three years too long. In fact the first one i had lasted one month before it broke down, the retailer immediately replaced it with a new one...This should have warned me of things to come! Since then i have had the engineers out well over 6 times luckily i purchased insurance...The faults I have had are as follows :- leaking, no heat ( twice) very noisy knocking noise, not spinning and blocking up...there is no access point for the filter so you have to get the engineer in to take the machine apart and unblock it!! Not only have i had these faults in my opinion the machine is extremely noisy...And finally, what prompted me to write this review It has just taken the dryer 3 hours to dry three towels that were barely damp...I know that washer dryers cant be compared to dryers...

Hotpoint Aquarius Dishwasher

Advantages: Hotpoint has a great warranty and very reliable. This machine has 12 place settings and operates really quietly. It is easy to install if the fitments are already in place
Disadvantages: Not as good as our last hotpoint as regards the baskets they don't seem to hold as much

...Hotpoint is a great make as the parts and labour warranty is usually better than any other make and the reliability is brilliant - we had our last Hotpoint for 12 years without any problem. We've haD this one about 18 months and it's been on every day and we've had no problems at all. The design is modern and easy to keep clean. There are lots of settings to choose from, from pre-wash to intense to economy and a half-load option (just top basket wash). It can even tell you if it has a fault (i.e. blocked filter) by flashing a particular combination of lights (detailed in booklet). The top basket is adjustable so that it can be lowered or raised to accomodate large items in top or bottom basket. ...I recently purchased this washing machine as a replacement for an older, tired Whirlpool Washer/Dryer. My previous machine was a 1000rpm speed and was deafeningly loud. Although I was initially dubious by the claims of the machines "super silent" features, I was very impressed by the performance that the machine gives whilst still being quiet. Even on the full 1600 spin it is quite quiet - not silent obviously, but when purchasing, the sales team were honest and friendly enough to point out that super silent doesn't mean silent and that there would be some noise. ...I had my dishwasher delivered just before xmas (just over 2 months ago) direct from Hotpoint as it was a replacement for a different model, the old FDW80 ugh lol. Anyway, Up until now I have found this to be a great machine. It is very quiet, even having an option for Night Mode which while making the cycle a bit longer, makes the sounds even quieter. Very energy efficient and a large choice of programmes. There is even a Baby Setting which you can put baby bottles in the machine and it will wash them in such a way and sterilise them. You can tell the machine if you are using tabs or not to optmise performance. The display is very easy to read and is a clean looking machine. The top rack has been heightened and can easy fit lots of cutlery and pots and pans in the dishwasher without any worries. The cutlery rack is movable...

...This is the first dishwasher that I have owned and so as a novice to the functionality of a dishwasher I find this one easy to use and does the job. It has a half load option that just washes the top drawer (usually cups and glasses), although after using it for a few weeks now I would rather a half load just washed the bottom drawer as I tend to run out of plates and pans before cups, but that's something to remember for the next machine I buy (i originally wanted the FDW80 that has the option of top or bottom drawer wash but everwhere had sold out and i was constantly being mucked about by sainsburys appliances, eventually leading me to go to currys to get the FDW60). This is one function I use all the time, its great as a lot of my clothes are worn only for a few hours the 'light' option is very convienient. The machine also has a very effient and fast 30 minute wash, this is great for swillling out things that do not need a full wash such as swiming cosumes. Also a mini load option which reduces water and energy consumption by 50%. Hotpoint WDD960 excellent for families with children

Advantages: washes well, dries well, quiet (when properly installed)

...We got this after having managed for a year without the dryer part of our washer dryer, so anything that actually dried would have been very much appreciated. But even considering that it is far superior to the old one. Programming It's very easy to program and lets you know how long it's going to take. It has a child lock, which is an essential in our house with a curious toddler. You can program it without looking at the manual as it has clear symbols and an informative digital display. Manual The manual is reasonably clear, but could be clearer, in particular the installation instructions (see below). It gives details of the various programmes and guidance on the weights of clothes that can be washed and dried. And it gives some basic troubleshooting instructions, as well.
