...Okay, let's get the boring specs out of the way first, then we'll get to the nitty gritty of what it's like to use. Well, it's a washing machine, it washes clothes. Most do (not my old one though, that died a month ago, or you wouldn't be reading this now). The Hotpoint WF840G is one of their Ultima range and comes in three colour schemes, has a new-fangled-style LCD display panel, can wash a load of up to 6kg, has many different programmes depending on what you're washing and how grubby it is and gives you a choice of spin speeds from no spin to 1400rpm and a choice of wash temeperatures from 25 degrees to 95 degrees. The price I paid was £399.99 at the Co-Op, but a quick search around various websites reveals that prices vary from £365.36 online and £499.95 in stores such as Currys. Hotpoint WMD960 Polar White.

Advantages: Digital Display, Customisable, Memory, Delay Start
Disadvantages: Wash times longer than stated, smaller porthole.

...have found so far the 30 minute time saver wash takes around 45-50 minutes and I can honestly say I don't know why! I am pleased with the size of the drum, the porthole is smaller than some of the other Aqualtis machines, which is a shame but the drum itself is a very nice size. Although I have not yet tried any "large items" looking at it, I do believe that it would comfortably hold a double duvet. Not tested this of course, so wouldn't like to say for certain. After installation by Currys I had a slight technical problem with the water supply, after calling the Hotpoint Service line I was given very helpful and prompt information - they were also good enough to tell me NOT to call out their engineers for the problem as they felt it may not be the issue I thought and if that was the case they would have to charge me for the callout...

...Lets face it it's a minefield out there when trying to choose the right Washing Machine for the right household.When you look buying one its a number of things price,drum capacity and Energy Rating.Price is probably the most influential factor in your purchase when i bought this one it cost me around £280 about 3 years ago i think you can get it for half that now.Although i would't say it has been repair man free it has'nt gave me that much bother partly because i have one of these accident repair insurance policy thingies.So far in 3 years i have needed to replace 2 drum belts,a new filter,a new PCB Module and a few other technical bits without cost to myself .The repair man said in all the parts on one visit came to £290 alone thats a new Washing Machine!! When new its fairly easy to install if you have some basic plumbing skills...

...i got this machine 2yrs ago because it was i liked what it had a big drum so i could wash my quiltes in it a quick wash a child lock which lite up when you pushed it in .every thing was great ontil it broke phone to get it fixed but i was told it was out of warrenty so thought i could get someone out to fix it was told it would be cheaper buying a new machine this is a joke it was only two yrs old .it door has all the works attached to it the fella couldnt open it as it was all done by machine so he couldnt be opened .i tried a other fella he to,ld me the same there was nothing i could do but scape it so i got my hubby to open it with a hammer well the fellas i got out where telling the truth i could not be open it was a concelled unite and the machine was only out when i got it and i paid near £500 for it so the next...

It has a child lock, which is an essential in our house with a curious toddler. You can program it without looking at the manual as it has clear symbols and an informative digital display. Manual The manual is reasonably clear, but could be clearer, in particular the installation instructions (see below). My review of the Hotpoint WF840 Washing Machine.

Advantages: Super silent when washing, Large Drum, LCD Information Panel and easy operation.
Disadvantages: Not as quiet as you would expect when going into spin mode.

It seems that Hotpoint put Super Silent on the washing machine and in the sales brochures where I think in fact they should put the words 'Super Silent Wash' which would be more appropriate whereas in wash mode the motor is so silent it gives the consumer the impression that the spin will be super silent as well, whereas in fact as the spin as its creeping up to and slowing down from spinning seems to buzz/vibrate at certain stages but when at its top speed of 1400rpm although yes it is quieter than some other machines on the market when spinning I wouldn?t call it Super Silent! Hotpoint WT940 washing machine

Advantages: good selection of programs, lcd display, fast spin speed, quiet in operation
Disadvantages: Doesn't stay silent for ever, but not bad.

...I bought this product 18 months ago to replace my previous Hotpoint machine as that had served me very well for many years. It has not let me down. There are lots of programs to choose from and they can be altered to suit your needs. I.e. you can change the temperature, spin speed or number of rinses. All the information is displayed in an easy to read LCD screen so you know exactly what program you are using and during the wash cycle it tells you what part of the program it is on and how many minutes left until it is finished. I like the child lock feature to prevent little fingers stopping it or changing the settings and you can store your favourite program to be recalled at the press of a button. There is a wide range of program lengths and these are displayed when you select your settings. This machine was whisper quiet when I got it...
