...Ealing Balti House is a delightful little Indian restaurant located in West Ealing which has been in operation since 1996. West Ealing is in West London and it?s not exactly one of the nicer parts of Ealing which is a shame as this restaurant gets easily overlooked when people think about dining in the Ealing area. My husband and I found this restaurant quite by chance a few years ago as it?s walking distance from our home. We were somewhat surprised to notice it as we thought we?d tried out all of the Indian restaurants in the Ealing area over the years. Unfortunately it?s not in the best location in Ealing, it?s on the main road of the West Ealing shopping area but it?s right at the end so it?s easily missed as it?s opposite the local Kwik Fit and parking is only available on the single yellow lines outside the restaurant or across...

Advantages: Reasonable price, good service
Disadvantages: Nothing major

For example, if you've added a loft conversion and a conservatory, they only get 15% of the house minus those two additions. We looked around the show homes in two different developments and were well impressed with the quality we saw. Also, I was pleased that at no stage were we hassled or rushed. The sales team let us look around on our own and did not pressure us into making any decisions. And also two out of the three were very considerate of the fact we were first time buyers and answered any questions we had without making us feel too stupid! The other lady was not so patient and probably was not ideally suited to a development designed for first-time buyers, but luckily our dealings with her were fairly limited. Wish my house was an Ideal Home!

Advantages: Plenty of ideas and examples for all budgets
Disadvantages: Slightly pricier than some other glossy house magazines

Chartwell House, Kent - Home of Churchill

Advantages: Fascinating house, lovely gardens, easy to find
Disadvantages: A bit pricy for a family

...Chartwell House in Kent is most famous for being the home of Winston Churchill and as such acts as a museum and shrine to his life and works. However, it is set in an extremely beautiful location with wonderful gardens and gorgeous views that are a pleasure in their own right and a good guide as to why Churchill himself loved the place so much and why he spent the majority of his life there. ...Period Living and Traditional Homes magazine claims to be the leading period homes magazine within the UK. As the latest issue due out will be issue no 190, then I am guessing it has been around for 15 years or so, and so has built this reputation over the years. Having been a home owner for some 19 years myself, I have always been attracted to home magazines, although invariably, I read them, let them gather dust in a collection for a while then bin them. Occasionally they make their way to the dentist or doctor's surgery. Rarely have I directly made any home improvements as a result. However, I have now bought a Victorian property in a beautiful village, but a property which has not been touched since the 1950's. A STYLISH HOME BY THE HOUSE DOCTOR

Advantages: Stylish and tasteful - no MDF

The programme is interesting from several different aspects, it is funny to watch the arguments over taste, it is interesting to see people's homes prior to the make-over and it is fascinating to see the changes and improvements made. Moreover, the changes are a distinct improvement, not silly foppish MDF coverups as in Changing Rooms and the like. The general tip from the house doctor is to keep backgrounds to rooms fairly neutral so they appeal to different types of people who will then be able to visualise themselves living there. Keep clutter to a minimum (although hardly any of the rooms turn out to be dull and minimalistic) and ensure the house is sweet smelling and tidy. ...House is a fantastic series and I missed the first one but got in to watching this in the second series, so I rushed out to buy the first series box set and I could not stop watching it, it is so addictive. If you love medical dramas then this is one for you as it's not all your normal diagnosis, each episode goes through a new medical dilemma they have to try and solve and they are not your usual colds and virus's. House is a medical programme with a diagnosis to be made, so each episode has you playing doctor trying to figure what has caused the patient's medical condition.
