Russell Howard - LIVE!
Advantages: Histerically Funny
Disadvantages: Might not be your taste
...I have always enjoyed watching stand up and happily spend many evenings with the other half, falling asleep giggling to something silly. My favourite comedians include, Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard, Jim Davidson, Lee Evans and Tim Minchin.
While browsing through HMV a few weeks ago, making a few usual impulse buys in the hope of finding something good, I spotted Russell Howard's "Live" DVD. The name rang a bell and I briefly remembered seeing a 2 minute clip of Russell on youtube and finding it funny. So the DVD was brought for 9.99.
If you have never seen Russell Howard before or seen any of his material, I can only describe him as being hysterically funny with a boyish charm. His youthful physical appearance, accompanied by a very cheeky grin really add to the already funny material he produces. He is very active and almost hyper...

The End or the Beginning?
Advantages: Complex characters, interesting themes and plot, realistic emotions
Disadvantages: None really
..."The End of the Affair" is the last of Greene's so-called major Catholic novels - it explores the theme of love - love for self, love for another and love of God - and the themes of hate and guilt. All of these emotions are commonly felt throughout an affair but are also major parts of the Catholic Faith.
The novel is said to be based on an affair Greene had during the war and the characters of Bendrix and Sarah are loosely based on Greene and his lover.
"The End of the Affair" has been adapted into a film twice in 1955 and 1999. Greene's novels tend to work well on screen. Having seen the second adaptation, I found it quite true to the book and thought the actors were well cast.
The novel is set in 1940's London - during and after WWII. The novel centres on three pivotal characters - Bendrix, Sarah and Henry. Bendrix is a writer who...

Play to the end
Advantages: Facinating story
Disadvantages: Long Chapters!!
...researched both Brighton and the plastics industry in writing this book, as his knowledge and descriptions of both made the story believable and realistic.
The books length was quite reasonable to tell the story. And I approved of the idea at the end of the book what the author called Later Days which I understand as an epilogue. However I would like to have seen more detail in this and a little more in depth information as to what happened to all the remaining characters.
I did find it frustrating the length of the chapters. These were all about 40 pages long and I felt too long, as I like to read till the next chapter in any book and that many pages in one short sitting can be too long and its awful to leave a book in mid chapter, I find anyway. I understand why the author did it this way as he wanted a new chapter for each day, but...

Lands End
Advantages: stunning views, great coastal walks
Disadvantages: the theme park ruins it a little
...Most people will have heard of 'lands end' because of the famous 'lands end to john o groats walks'. Lands end is the headland of the Penwith Peninsula and is the most westerly tip of the southern mainland. It is situated approximately 9 miles west of Penzance and is surrounded by some spectacular views of the atlantic ocean. Its vey popular and today is one of the most visited outdoor attractions in Cornwall; I've visited every time I've been to Cornwall.
As already mentioned the main reason that most people visit lands end is because of the surrounding views and the fact that you are at the most westerly point of the southern mainland. The signpost at lands end pointing towards john o groats and new york has to be one of the most famous signposts in the world, and is popular with tourists - people often queue to have their photo...

Where DO Rainbows End ?
Advantages: Sweet , Fast Paced
Disadvantages: None!
...I was browsing my local charity shop , looking for a book as I was in a reading mood. As always , when I?m looking for a new book to read , it has to be a member of the ?romantic comedy? genre ; sometimes referred to as ?chick lit?. The charity shop (PDSA - ?Pets in need of vets?) has a wide range of books , all from different genres and suitable for all ages. I had been browsing for some time , when I came across a ?lovely looking? book called ?Where Rainbows End?. This book appealed to me instantly and so off I went to the counter to buy it for a small price of 99p. Bargain - considering it?s original price was £6.99!
Where Rainbows End is a ?chick lit? book , written by Cecelia Ahern who is also the authoress of the bestselling book P.S I Love You. Where Rainbows End?s cover consists of light blue and pink colours , including...

Want it to end?
Advantages: A bit different from other horrors, Leaves some things to your imagination
Disadvantages: At times feels like a tv movie.
...Dead End
Release Date: 2003
Certificate 15
Approx Running Time: 85 mins
Director: Jean-Baptiste Andrea
Frank Harrington (Ray Wise) and his family are driving to his Mother-In-Laws house, to celebrate Christmas. In the car with him are his wife Laura (Lin Shaye), his daughter Marion (Alexandra Holden), his son Richard (Mick Cain) and Marion's boyfriend Brad (Billy Asher). The trip isn't very pleasant for Frank with an uneasy atmosphere between Marion and Brad, who aren't speaking to each other, his wife constantly nagging him about anything and everything, and his son doing his very best to annoy and wind everybody up, especially Brad, who he seems to have a dislike of. After singing a few christmas carols and a little more bickering between Frank and Laura, everyone in the car falls asleep, and frank continues driving, although...

A Blockbusters Lowly End
Advantages: To be completely honest, nothing.
Disadvantages: Not the same 'Pirates' we knew and loved
...When a blockbuster the size of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End comes along it is hard to find words that can do the film justice, but when that blockbuster disappoints it is even harder to pick yourself up and put something together that quite frankly doesn't ruin the fantasies of many of the readers. I never paid the cinema fare to see this completition of a trlogy, I was put off by the rumours of it lasting three hours and I don't have enough Pirates 3 fanatics nor room in my bladder for that. Instead, as my mum received it as a Christmas present year I was the first person to unwrap it and watch it on my own Boxing Day.
'Curse of the Black Pearl' worked brilliantly as a stand alone film, and it is not surprising that they wanted to cash in on the franchise, and although I had my reservations on how 'Dead Mans Chest' would...

It's the end!...of England!
Advantages: beautiful part of the country, superb views and great history
Disadvantages: quite far to travel
...Last year we found out that the Doctor Who exhibition would be at Lands End for several months. My partner is a huge Doctor Who fan and really wanted to visit the exhibition. I remember visiting as a child but thought it would be great to visit again. It seems like a very long way to go but is definitely worth the long drive.
***LANDS END***
Lands End is situated on the tip of the Penwith Peninsula. It is the most westerly point of Cornwall well the UK. In Cornish Lands End is known as Penn an Wlas which means 'End of the Land'. Lands End is subject to many tales of mythology and tradition. The lost land of Lyonesse is said to be hidden under the sea but can be seen from Lands End on a clear day.
Many people from all over the UK and other parts of the world choose to walk from the Scottish Village of John O Groats (the most...

Dry ends are banished!
Advantages: Does it's job well
Disadvantages: Strange smell
...I purchased this serum from Avon a few months ago and only just got around to using it! I'm not really a big person for using hair products, I never use anything past shampoo/conditioner and heat protectors! After finding that my hair was a bit dry at the ends though I thought it wouldn't hurt to try something to help at which point I stumbled across this. It costs £4.50 for 30ml of product although Avon often has offers on so look out for them you may find it cheaper!
The serum comes in a glass bottle with a green pump top, I find that when using it I need less then one pump although those with longer hair may need more. My advice is to try a little and if you need more then add it, don't start with lots as too much can cause hair to look and feel oily. Once I have the serum in my palm I rub my palms together to spread the product out...

Sorry when the end came
Advantages: Totally absorbing.
Disadvantages: The size of the book makes your arm ache!
...World Without End? What does this mean? Having now reached the end of the book I?m still not certain, but it probably doesn?t really matter?
The book is the sequel to The Pillars of the Earth, which was set in the 12th century, with the building of a massive cathedral as its central theme. If you haven?t read this first book, it won?t affect your understanding and enjoyment of the second one. If you have read it, that?s a bonus.
The story in World Without End takes place about two hundred years later. The plot revolves round the same monastery (different monks!), the convent attached to it and the town that they ?govern?.
Four children from the town accidently stumble upon a secret that has a bearing on all of their lives in some way as they grow up and become middle aged. The experiences they go through are also...
