The HP 300's bigger, stronger brother

...This range of print cartridges from HP is the bigger and better version of the HP300. Those of you who remember my stunning, wrongly uncrowned review of the HP300 will remember how it ran out after just 140 pages. Well, this time I splashed out on the upgrade. Basically, these cost £30 each, although I picked them up on ebay for around £19 brand new and sealed. They are print cartridges that do a lot more than the HP300. ...We have been looking for a good quality laptop at the right price, so when we saw the HP G60 for £379 we went for it. The laptop is has a good specification. It has 3GB of RAM which is more than enough to run Windows Vista, a 250 GB hard drive, and 2 GHz AMD Turion dual core processor which means it is more that quick and powerful enough to hand most things. The screen is 15.6 inches (a fraction larger than the standard 15.4 on most laptops) and has a glossy finish, there is little glare and ample brightness and contract in it. HP 300

Advantages: Lasts quite a long time
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I have a HP C4480 printer which takes the 300 cartridge. Although high street prices can be very pricey, not to name any names, the online price tends to quite reasonable. The cartridges are very easy to install; simply removing the packaging, the plastic coasting the ink head and click into place. The ink quality is very good and produces a very good print. The ink is thick so it easily sticks to the page. I have used different quality paper, and have found, that when using some premium paper that is relatively thick the print stands out more than using thinner, cheaper paper. This not only gives a better print, but it also dries quicker, preventing smudging. The ink cartridges do last quite a while, whilst unlike others they don't seem to dry up when not used for a while. I must of managed to print around 100 pages of documents...

Advantages: Good print quality, easy to set up

...This HP printer is one of the best things I have bought in a long time. The white box is quite large, but comes securely packages within the box it is supplied. However, there did seem to be an awful lot of packaging which seemed a bit un-needy. Installation was very, very easy on my macbook. I plugged in the usb cable (which I had to purchase separately!) into the back of the printer and into the USB port on my notebook. I didn't have to install any drivers and my mac did it all itself very quickly. Installing the ink cartridges was quite confusing how to do this, but it requires powering the unit up first to do so. Simply remove the plastic packaging from the ink cartridges and click them into place. Don't force them or you'll end up with ink everywhere! HP for me

Advantages: Cheap reliable and good print outs

...Currently on offer for £26.87 in ASDA is this rather neat looking all in one printer. It is from HP so you know you are getting a quality product. It is perhaps a little bulkier than recent printers I have purchased, but with it having a Photo Copier and a Scanner I guess I can easily forgive it for this little hic cup. The unit as I mentioned is largish being that it is 6.8 inches high and 16.76 inches wide with a depth of 10.22 inches, but in this matt black box is a host of features for a measly £26 quid. My main reason fro changing printer was that this baby was £1.50cheaper than buying new cartridges for my ex Lexmark printer. HP 5940 - Brilliant, cheap printer!

Advantages: Excellent quality, very fast printer!
Disadvantages: None really...

...and the ink consumed are all fantastic I've started to have some problems... This printer is just over a year old now and the feed mechanism is touch and go at best. The problem started around six months in and has worsened since. Basically the printer does not grip the paper and therefore does not feed properly. I contacted HP and they asked me all the usual questions (have I used te software cleaning, feeding problem shooters etc) then suggested I contact a different department and ask for a kit that has been designed for this printer to effectively remedy this problem. I am still waiting for my kit so will be back in touch after I've used it....
