Compaq SR2125UK
Review of Compaq Presario Media Center SR2125UK - Pentium D 915 2.8 GHz by
matt_nichols
Advantages: Very Upgradable, Cheaply Priced, Very Reliable.
Disadvantages: The nVidia 7500LE is by no means an efficent card, No front case fan.
...I have found the Compaq SR2125UK a very powerful machine, I bought it as a secondary machine from PCWorld back in May 2007. When I first bought it I didn't realise it's full potential of what it's very upgradable motherboard can have. It's processor which comes shipped with it is an Intel Pentium D 915 which is around one of the first Dual Core processors around and is now starting to age a little, but this machine will happily take any Intel Core 2 Duo's. It'll also take up to 4GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM and any PCIe x16 graphic card (with a PSU upgrade).
So onto my first experience with this Compaq, after it had been delivered in a massive 4x4x4 foot box I was at first a little dissapointed to find a Micro ATX tower (smaller size computer) as alot of these towers which I've had experiences with have had cooling problems. So now all...

HP Pavillion DV 6355
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6355ea Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T5300 1.73 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
PaulineLees
Advantages: Remote, Bright and Sharp Screen, Lightweight, Large Hardrive
Disadvantages: 1GB Ram, Only 3 USB Ports, Webcam Incompatability with Vista
...that the lid slams shut to secure closing.
HP includes 3 USB ports, including an ExpressCard slot and a 5-in-1 card reader.
A remote control is included to allow controlling of power, volume, DVD controls etc allowing you to watch a movie in bed and turn the machine off without getting up. This is a useful feature.
Performance from the Intel Core 2 Duo T5300 with 1GB of RAM is satisfactory, but struggles with Vista\'s aero interface.
The laptop is a compact size, comparible with all 15.4" models meaning its easily transportable.
I paid £699.99 for this product and all in all I am pleased with the Notebook. I would recommend this product to others....

Compaq Business Notebook 6715b
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6715b - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
pieceofmind
Advantages: Price, good specs, (xp?)
Disadvantages: may have problems bettween xp and any vista systems
...Yet anoter fantastic product from HP
Hp is a global company that has been running for over 6 decades, so you know that when you buy a hp, you know what you are getting for your money.
I have owned many HPs and been happy with many hp's and this is no exeption. The price is fantastic and it has very good specifications to match.
The 15" screen is a perfect comprimise bettween view-ability and portability, the procsessor clocks at a quick 1.9 while having the advantage of being dual core. dual core meas it can handle multiple tasks quicker, ultimately speeding up the processing time of your pc. it has an acceptable 1gb of ram which means multiple programs will run fluently.
It also has windows xp proffesional, many people thnk windows proffesional is still the best buisness o.s as it is often more simple than its Vista counterparts...

great laptop, but you might wish it was better
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6910p - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
techno_man_37
Advantages: portability
Disadvantages: price, amount of ram and hard drive
...One thing HP Compaq are good at is making great laptops for business people. This clearly shows in this laptop as it incorporates everything a business man would need in a laptop.
This laptop clearly isn’t the best looking laptop iv ever seen, but its not ugly. Its all in one colour, black, which in this case doesn’t make it look so horrible due to its nice square shape structure. There are so many things wrong with this design, yet somehow I do really like it.
The installed ram on this laptop is an average 1 gb. This is ok but could have been dramatically improved if it was a 2gb of ram.
The ram can however be upgraded, and it can be upgraded to a maximum of 4 gb so if this is something you think you could do your self then you could easily buy cheap ram off eBay and install it yourself, however if you don’t know...

laptop for portability
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc8430 - Core Duo T2500 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
techno_man_37
Advantages: its very portable
Disadvantages: price and lack of ram and hard drive
...Manager, Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, HP OpenView Radia Management Agent, HP QuickLook, HP Universal Print Driver. All these programs are free to install and use, however some are just demos for a limited number of days.
If you want a fast portable laptop then this is great, it will cost around £600 though which is quite expensive for a laptop that only has 80gb of hard drive and just 1gb of ram. This might put you off it however it is very portable and its got fantastic battery life as well as looking a lot nicer than most laptops designed for business men and portability so altogether it’s a fantastic laptop....

Friendly Laptop.
Review of Compaq Presario 2143 by
plb888
Advantages: Ease of use,
Disadvantages: Heavy and a bit bulky, touch pad
...Here we have the compaq Presario 2143.
At a first glance it is quite an attractive laptop, it isn't over fancy or ugly. It is simple and the colour scheme is easy on the eys. I do find that it is quite bulky though, it isn't the slimist of laptops as it measures:
After frequent use the latch that holds the screen dwon becomes abit loose whcih isn't ideal but doesn't effect the screen. Mine has a 15" screen which is a good size, especially when watching movies or playing games. However, the compaq will struggle with high powered games. This could be due to the 64mb graphics card.
Basic Spec:
Processor: Celeron 2.6 GHz
Operating System: Windows XP Home edition
Hard drive cap. 40Gb
RAM: 256 DDR.
USB Ports: 3
No floppy drive (but in this day and age thats not that important!)
Price on my purchase: £900
I wouldn't say it was the best...

Portable Computing
Review of HP OmniBook XE2 - C 500 MHz - 12.1" TFT by
srobin8203
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Small hard drive
...I have been in need of a laptop for some time now, I often have time when i am at work to sit and type or read and could do so if it were not for the lack of a laptop. I decided that the time had come and I should finally get myself a laptop, after searching around I found most of the laptops under £1000 were pretty lacking, 32Mb machines were all that were available unless I wanted a Toshiba, which has that annnoying mouse ball that I hate. I was quite surprised to find an HP laptop in my price range and I was certainly not to be disappointed by it.
Hp had several models for under £1000, but at the time mine was the only one with 64Mb of Ram. There are now several models with 64Mb and and a better overall spec and lower price thatn mine was, making HP my choice for any future laptops I buy. The machine itself is great after looking...
