Another Workhorse from HP

Advantages: Solid all-round general printer.
Disadvantages: Not cheap and photographic printing unspectacular.

...The 6940 is the sort of a solid, reliable printer you would expect from HP - with very easy connection through USB. Quality of output on ordinary paper with standard cartridges is very good and, on the correct paper with the photographic cartridges, sufficient for reasonably good photographs. The lack of manual adjustment for alignment (or very little else) is a little alarming, but the automatic systems do work. Overall the 6940 (for an inkjet printer) is economical with cartridges - even though they can be hard to get and quite expensive when you eventually have to replace them. The black cartridge refills easily (although I've never tried it with the colour cartridge). Doesn't like particularly thick or rigid card. Looks like a high price for the specs - even at £80 - but it is quality kit. If you don't really need best quality...

The HP 300's bigger, stronger brother

Those of you who remember my stunning, wrongly uncrowned review of the HP300 will remember how it ran out after just 140 pages. Well, this time I splashed out on the upgrade. Basically, these cost £30 each, although I picked them up on ebay for around £19 brand new and sealed. They are print cartridges that do a lot more than the HP300. ...Currently on offer for £26.87 in ASDA is this rather neat looking all in one printer. It is from HP so you know you are getting a quality product. It is perhaps a little bulkier than recent printers I have purchased, but with it having a Photo Copier and a Scanner I guess I can easily forgive it for this little hic cup. The unit as I mentioned is largish being that it is 6.8 inches high and 16.76 inches wide with a depth of 10.22 inches, but in this matt black box is a host of features for a measly £26 quid. My main reason fro changing printer was that this baby was £1.50cheaper than buying new cartridges for my ex Lexmark printer. Review of HP 350 - print cartridge (CB335EE)

HP 5940 - Brilliant, cheap printer!

Advantages: Excellent quality, very fast printer!
Disadvantages: None really...

...and the ink consumed are all fantastic I've started to have some problems... This printer is just over a year old now and the feed mechanism is touch and go at best. The problem started around six months in and has worsened since. Basically the printer does not grip the paper and therefore does not feed properly. I contacted HP and they asked me all the usual questions (have I used te software cleaning, feeding problem shooters etc) then suggested I contact a different department and ask for a kit that has been designed for this printer to effectively remedy this problem. I am still waiting for my kit so will be back in touch after I've used it....
