HP PSC 1215 All in one printer/scanner/photocopier

Advantages: Its 3 in 1 so you don't have loads of cables everywhere
Disadvantages: None

...About 2 years ago I decided it was time to update my printer and after scanning around for some bargains I decided that the HP PSC 1215 would be the one for me. It was just what I needed a printer/scanner and copier all in one with a free 3.1 MP camera chucked in to seal the deal. HP C4480 Printer - Great all-rounder

Advantages: High text and image print quality; prints, scans and copies; good value for money
Disadvantages: Not got wireless; software is a bit complicated

...I purchased this printer about 9 months ago, for starting my second year at university (my previous printer packed up). At the time, I got it for around £40, as it was on offer in Tesco; the price varies but you can definitely still pick it up for under £50, though it is worth keeping an eye out for special offers in stores. This printer/photocopier/scanner all-in-one unit is a fantastic bargain, offering so many features for the price. As a student, it is in regular use, printing out lecture slides, coursework and other documents. Word documents print quickly, even on the higher quality settings, and the text is always clear (except on the ultra-fast draft setting where the alignment of text goes a bit off). Advantages: cheap, good print quality

HP 5940 - Brilliant, cheap printer!

For less than £60 you can have a printer that is capable of printing good quality edge to edge photos or can print up to 30 pages of text a minute! Installation This printer was immensely easy to install. You didn't have to print a test page and check alignment then tell it what to do? It just got on with it. Plug it in, stick in the cd and voila! Printer! Annoyingly it didn't come with a usb lead so you have to buy one separately, but I think that this is fairly common practice these days.
