...In March, my office finally bit the bullet and bought its first networkable printer (to be used by 3 people). Up to that point, we had 3 different printers - 1 on each desk - which all went through a full colour cartridge every fortnight and a black cartridge cost every week. Given the extortionate cost of printer cartridges (even recycled ones), my boss decided that now was the right time to buy a new 'central' networked printer, and wanted people to come up with ideas as to what we wanted. We eventually decided that we wanted a printer that could be networked wirelessly, had a high print cartridge capacity, could work with Vista had a fast printing turnaround, had a household name so that cartridges wouldn't be a problem and one that had a duplexing facility as we print a lot of double-sided pages as part of our order forms...

The Pro & Cons of HP Color Laserjet 4700dn Printer

Advantages: Easy install and setup, reliable, fast speed and capable for network pritning .
Disadvantages: Expensive and cannot print in A3 size, difficult in loading paper .

However, if you required for print media in A3 size, then it is not for you. It is also not a good idea for personal or graphic designer, as it is expensive in price and also not the best choice for the hi-resolution graphics due to the 600 dpi limitation. Although it seldom got jammed, but if you are not fixing the media correctly, it may be a problematic and need to call technician for help. The correct selection of media type in the printer properties option will reduce the problem and make your printing smoothly. Good little printer

Advantages: small, easy, cheap, good quality (for a col. laser)
Disadvantages: smallish paper tray

...Good little colour printer! Network ready, works well with my Mac and PC over ethernet. Installed easily on both. Initial toner cartridges are not full capacity, but mine ran to around 950 pages when black, followed shortly but magenta and cyan ran out. Tip for using this printer: switch on the supplies warning override. It was telling me to replace toner at around 600 pages, I got 350 pages more before needing too! Use: using this for short run direct mail and flyers, lots of pictures and colour. With Edge Control set to light this is just fine. Not quite as smooth as the commercial printer I use for digital but acceptable, and we're promoting photography services mainly. Prints card up to 220gsm OK. Also duplexes well (work and turn). In first 1000 pages it needed 1 calibration (diy through the printer menu). Paper...

Advantages: Good value for money and crisp prints
Disadvantages: Slow and can only be used for personel use

...Appearance I think the printers quite cute and its fairly compact so will fit on the table next to your monitor. It's also a nice sturdy machine and would rate the build quality quite high apart from a slightly loose sliding paper tray. Performance The printer isn't the fastest available but it's not unbearable its colour prints at about 2 pages a minute. It does however pump out an annoying high pitched noise as it prints. The worst aspect of the machine is its 'recommended monthly print volume' is a minimal 250 to 1,000 pages so it can only be used for personnel use. Often, they are identical models too, Canon have made a lot of printers for HP in the past. This time was different, the HP was the cheapest colour laser I could find where the cartridge prices were also reasonable. Being a laser printer, these do take drums as well as toner cartridges. All laser printers do, but the cartridges for this one come together with the drum. This means to the end user, you only need to change 4 toner cartridges, one for each colour of black, cyan, magenta and yellow.
