Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4010 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by

Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Durability, Warrenty, Connectivity
Disadvantages: Have to connect a CD-ROM drive when you need it
...I've had my fair selection of laptops but none have come close to the performance of this little beast.
Size
I use my this at college everyday and it is perfect for what I need. The laptop is smaller than most of my textbooks and smaller than a piece of A4 paper so is perfect to fit in your back pack.
Weight
Not only is the laptop smaller than my textbooks its also a lot lighter! Saves having to carry around a mass of paperwork.
Battery
I have all the little extra's on the laptop and always use it on full brightness, realistic battery life is approx 2 hours under constant word processing. Batteries are easily swappable and easy to get hold off so if you do need longer it is readily availiable.
Durability
I do have a laptop case but in all honesty have only used it a handful of times, with this laptop being so small it will easily go...

Good specification with poor reliability
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nx5000 - Pentium M 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT by
ivelinaivanova
Advantages: Excellent range of features, excellent speed/performance, good battery life
Disadvantages: Disappointed with reliability, extremely poor customer support
...I bought this laptop around April 2005 from PC World Business, at around 1000 GBP. It was delivered without a modem, although the specification did list a modem. After a month of adventures, and after exchanging three laptops, the third one arrived with a modem. HP refused to apologise, said they had told PC World not to sell that batch due to missing modems.
Anyway, once I got one with a modem fitted, I was extremely pleased with the performance of the laptop, and the extras, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, IR, etc, etc. Those happy times lasted only until the display backlight failed a couple of months later. Thankfully, within warranty so the laptop was collected and the display replaced for free.
However, just after the standard one-year warranty expired, the backlight (of the new display) failed again. Now I am using the laptop...

HP NC4000
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4000 - Pentium M 1.5 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
jjhorton1989
Advantages: Good BAttery Life
Disadvantages: easy to scratch
...The HP nc 4000 notebook is highly mobile and has a very good battery life, with the battery lasting over 3 hours on one train journey.
The notebook runs xp and office applications with easy and can cope with PowerPoint presentations, but lacks the speed for anyone who may want to play games on it.
There are 2 USB ports on the nc 4000 which is not really enough when one is taken up by a flash drive, the there is only one left. so if you wish to use an external keyboard and mouse both of these usb ports will be used as there is no PS2 port to plug them in.
The lack of a optical drive can sometimes be a problem as not all programs install easily over a network.
There is only one speaker on the notebook which does not produce the best sound, and can only be disabled if the sound is muted, as the headphone port is a line out...

A good desktop replacement
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nx7010 - Pentium M 1.5 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
FallScrape
Advantages: Thin, light, rugged & stylish
Disadvantages: Poor wireless connection (often drops) slow mute button
...Anyone who knows me knows of my love/hate relationship with hewlett packard. So far I've owned four laptops from them and only paid for one. Each one has been a replacement of the last due to on going technical difficulties or problems. Being an IT proffesional I demand the highest quality of service with my equipment and make HP jump through hoops.
To begin with, the laptop comes well packaged with an amazing array of CD's and DVD's. It comes pre-installed with windows XP proffessional (Which doesn't seem to require activation) and it runs smootly out of the box without the usual amount of rubbish HP installs on their products.
But I'm not here to review software - The laptop itself feels like a quality bit of kit. I spend all day on my laptop, and so far I've not noticed any stress on the plastic, it's virtually silent & even...

HP TC1100 - Pocket dynamite
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Incredibly slick, lightweight and robust. Toughened screen and powerful.
Disadvantages: Screen display is somewhat 'fiddly', compressed into 10". No extra casing protection.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the HP TC1100 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The HP TC1100 is the most versatile tablet PC design overall. You can use it like a regular notebook with attached keyboard or fold the keyboard under to use it in tablet mode, what sets it apart from the rest however is that it can be totally detached from the keyboard. This was a very attractive proposition and makes for a very slick and streamlined tablet for the truly mobile user. This option makes the device a staggeringly lightweight (3.1 lb) slate. As a pure slate...

Who needs a desktop
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc6120 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by
abdrewawolfe
Advantages: light, good battery life
Disadvantages: poor docking solution
...than desktop ones which spin at 7200 or even 1000rpm. Older laptops have generally had 4000rpm hard disks, with the NC6120 HP have finally introduced the slightly faster 5400rpm drive. Basically the faster the platter inside the hard disk can spin, the faster data can be read off of it. With increased speed tends to come increased power consumption and heat generation so laptop drives are generally slower.
512MB RAM, this was a single stick, with one spare slot. I shoved another 1GB in and am running at 1.5GB, to upgrade further would dump the supplied memory.
Docking Station
--------------------
HPs docking solution seems to have gone a bit wrong though. You firstly have to buy a stand thing that angles the laptop and raises it so the screen is higher and then you have to buy a port replicator thing that's part of the solution...

A Workhorse of Laptops
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc6120 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by
darziw
Advantages: Fantastic Battery life and lots of features
Disadvantages: No Floppy Drive or PS/2 slot
...I use a laptop rather than a desktop PC at work as I need to move around from site to site. Therefore any laptop I use must offer me the same features of a desktop PC but obviously the additional benefits of a laptop.
The HP Compaq nc6120 is a business laptop with a no frills design but all the features you would come to expect for business use. The main areas I consider when purchasing a laptop are,
Features
Battery Life
Cost!!
The nc6120 comes in a number of derivatives and prices vary from around £700 to £1,100 depending on what you go for. It is a sensible no frills laptop that is dark grey in colour with no garish add-ons which in my opinion is a good thing. A previous laptop I owned had flashing blue neon lights everywhere which was novel to start with but the novelty soon wore off!!
My nc6120 has...

Compaq Business Notebook 6715b
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6715b - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
pieceofmind
Advantages: Price, good specs, (xp?)
Disadvantages: may have problems bettween xp and any vista systems
...Yet anoter fantastic product from HP
Hp is a global company that has been running for over 6 decades, so you know that when you buy a hp, you know what you are getting for your money.
I have owned many HPs and been happy with many hp's and this is no exeption. The price is fantastic and it has very good specifications to match.
The 15" screen is a perfect comprimise bettween view-ability and portability, the procsessor clocks at a quick 1.9 while having the advantage of being dual core. dual core meas it can handle multiple tasks quicker, ultimately speeding up the processing time of your pc. it has an acceptable 1gb of ram which means multiple programs will run fluently.
It also has windows xp proffesional, many people thnk windows proffesional is still the best buisness o.s as it is often more simple than its Vista counterparts...

HP Compaq nx6110
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nx6110 - Celeron M 360 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT by
ashleymedler
Advantages: Screen quality, sound quality
Disadvantages: slow, memory, processor.
...Overall a pretty good laptop, i got one very cheap a couple of years ago, and it is still going strong, although the very small RAM makes it very slow at times, and often freezes. It can take a very long time to start up, and isn't great for playing games on due to the small processor. It is very durable, it is still all in one piece even after it has been dropped a few times, and when a key came off after my cat had an argument with it, it was very simple to re-attach. However, the buttons for left and right clicking have worn down a lot, and the keys which i use the most have worn quite a bit too. Overall a good laptop, but i would recommend upgrading the RAM...

great laptop, but you might wish it was better
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6910p - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
techno_man_37
Advantages: portability
Disadvantages: price, amount of ram and hard drive
...One thing HP Compaq are good at is making great laptops for business people. This clearly shows in this laptop as it incorporates everything a business man would need in a laptop.
This laptop clearly isn’t the best looking laptop iv ever seen, but its not ugly. Its all in one colour, black, which in this case doesn’t make it look so horrible due to its nice square shape structure. There are so many things wrong with this design, yet somehow I do really like it.
The installed ram on this laptop is an average 1 gb. This is ok but could have been dramatically improved if it was a 2gb of ram.
The ram can however be upgraded, and it can be upgraded to a maximum of 4 gb so if this is something you think you could do your self then you could easily buy cheap ram off eBay and install it yourself, however if you don’t know...
