nc6120- HP or not HP that is the question

Advantages: Lightweight, numerous ports, large hard drive, fast, dvd-rw drive, useful
Disadvantages: no on/off button for touchpad, no floppy drive

...have recently upgraded my primary laptop to a hp nc6120. So far I think it is fantastic.I have had no problems whatsoever so far which is good in computer years as I have already owned it for almost 5 months! That includes no stupid error messages or go slows due to greedy programs eating into memory even though I have the dreaded Micro$oft windows XP running on it, no core meltdowns of the cpu due to insufficient heat sinks as I have had with so many other makes and models of laptop, and no problems running any hardware or software on it yet as far as I know. The Laptop is only thin as it is built to be streamlined and lightweight for cutting edge business technology, I'd say about an inch or so thickness, which makes my slighlty older ones look quite a lot like bricks! A Workhorse of Laptops

Advantages: Fantastic Battery life and lots of features
Disadvantages: No Floppy Drive or PS/2 slot

...I use a laptop rather than a desktop PC at work as I need to move around from site to site. Therefore any laptop I use must offer me the same features of a desktop PC but obviously the additional benefits of a laptop. The HP Compaq nc6120 is a business laptop with a no frills design but all the features you would come to expect for business use. The main areas I consider when purchasing a laptop are, • Features • Battery Life • Cost!! The nc6120 comes in a number of derivatives and prices vary from around £700 to £1,100 depending on what you go for. It is a sensible no frills laptop that is dark grey in colour with no garish add-ons which in my opinion is a good thing. Basically the faster the platter inside the hard disk can spin, the faster data can be read off of it. With increased speed tends to come increased power consumption and heat generation so laptop drives are generally slower. 512MB RAM, this was a single stick, with one spare slot. HP Compaq nx7300 - Good for business

Advantages: Great overall build quality, great screen, it's fast enough for you old man
Disadvantages: Not much memory, dull looks aren't going to wow the ladies (never stopped me!)

...I've recently been able to test this laptop as my stepdad has received one through his work. It's the first time I have seen an HP/Compaq laptop, but I've used many other brands so I'll be mainly using them as a comparison. At first glance, the laptop has a very ordinary design, but when you pick it up you quickly appreciate the build quality. It is quite light, and yet very sturdy, and feels like it could happily take a few knocks ( lucky as my stepdad has a short temper!! ). I also really like the keyboard, it feels great to type on and there is no "give" like my own current laptop ( an Acer Ferrari ).
