530D. A joy to own.

Advantages: Power, luxury and ecomomy.
Disadvantages: Cost, especially when you start adding options.

...Having previously owned the fabulous BMW 3ltr engine in an E46 330D, i decided to upgrade to the 530D with a larger boot space. Best descision i have made for a long time. The car oozes luxury! Excellent ride, awesome power delivery through the automatic gearbox and a shape that just grows on you as time goes by. Economy on this vehicle depends on the position of your right foot. Expect 35-38 for normal driving, 37-41 on the motorway. Not bad for a large engine pushing out over 230bhp. The Automatic gearbox, with sport mode, makes seamless changes and adapts to your driving style. A joy to use. It may appear a little sparse inside, but has everything you need is too hand. Disadvantages: Size,Ram,Lid Scratches Easily

...excellent range i would say. If the 530 had more connections on it such as memory card reader i think it would be perfect but you get what you pay for i suppose. After testing the DVD Writer i found that it failed a lot of times using Nero Express it also failed using the HP Backup Software,Worked perfect when tryiing to copy music disk.The Lid on my laptop has got 2 scratches after only 2 month of using.One more problem i have found with this laptop is that the power cable is in the wrong place always seems to be in the way. i would reccomend getting this laptop if you are on a tight budget and if you are not botherd about the size of the laptop(would reccomend Ram Upgrade)....

BMW 530D Sport Touring 2001 E39

Advantages: Quality , Power , Style , Handling
Disadvantages: Slightly smaller than Merc E class internally

...530d Msport Touring .Quite simply Outstanding in all departments . The only possible improvement would be to make it slightly bigger to match the E class for space . BMW have regained top position for refinement , quality and value that Merc had in 90's . Quality Merc engineering is now let down by appalling paint and corrosion issues across the range from the S class down , now just expensive rotboxes and with no worthwhile warranty either. If only the model W210/11 onwards had had the quality of the W124 in all departments and merc paint quality had been maintained across the range they would now be unassailable. But this was not to be ! This is why I find myself driving a BMW again , my first non Merc since a lovely but flawed (cooling system issues ) BMW 730 from the early90's. What do I now find...

...So what's it got and is it worth it. My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista. The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home. Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting. HP D1470 Inkjet Printer.

Advantages: Very cheap, durable, and excellent for the amateur computer user.
Disadvantages: Tray a little too small, and a few issues with packing the tray with paper.

Again, home delivery options are apparently limited with the item currently out of stock in their distribution centre, so be prepared to be disappointed. Ebay auctions are available, but you will be looking at between £25 - £29.99. Typical ink cartridge prices (genuine HP) are currently £12.89 in Argos for black, and £16.99 for colour (this printer taking the standard 2 cartridges, not the mixers in other printers). HP PhotoSmart D7160 - one year of use

Advantages: Easy to use. Good colour reproduction. Easy to change inkjets.
Disadvantages: Must use 100 gsm paper or else printer constantly jams or damages output

...I bought this printer because I was fed up forking out lots of money for ink jet cartridges which would run out of one colour and mean that the rest of the ink was unused. So in December 2007 I purchased the HP PhotoSmart D7160. This printer has individual inkjet cartridges for each colour. However in January 2008 the printer just packed up and would not work. I contacted Hewlett Packard and explained that I had no idea why it would not work. They were very helpful, non-judgemental and identified the problem (technical and beyond my ken) and arranged for me to send the printer back. The carrier collected it and replaced it with a brand new printer. It worked like a dream. The aftersales service cannot be faulted. I use the printer for making leaflets and printing photgraphs. This means I tend to use a lot of blue and black...

Advantages: Good printing speed

...The HP Deskjet D4260 printer... a stylish looking black and silver design. This printer cost me £30, and have to say, it is definately worth the money! The printer has something which is different, the paper goes in the bottom,. and printers in a circular motion, as apposed to putting the paper in the top, and expecting it to come out the bottom. Another positive factor about this printer, is the fact that the printer comes with 2 inks, which is enough to get you started. Although, with this printer, there is a few downsides. Firstly, as explained above, as the paper goes in a circular motion, it tends to jam a few times, and paper gets stuck- don't worry, it is very easy to remove the paper.
