Hewlett Packard vs. Epson
Review of Member Advice on Hewlett Packard by
Luso
Advantages: HP for word processing / Epson for images
Disadvantages: HP smudges / Epson slow
...Which printer to buy? Forget all else, if you want a decent balance between image and word processing then you will probably find that it will have to be HP or Epson. The average HP DeskJet printer provides quicker printouts, excellent document definition, but fails to achieve the outstanding image quality that Epsons deliver. I have had several different models of each printer manufacturer, and I now use a HP DeskJet 710C which has given me, on average, very good results. Still every time I want to print a photograph on photo paper, I still go for the Epson Stylus Colour. Mind you HPs can deliver good picture quality too. One last word, if you are clumsy and have a desk full of things all the time, then go for an Epson. HP ink takes much longer to dry - you’re bound to get your work and your hands smudged very easily!...

* Not a printer for a student *
Review of HP Deskjet 3650 by
galaxynicole
Advantages: Quality and speed
Disadvantages: Needs too many cartridges for frequent usage
...HP DeskJet 3650
I won this printer 2 years ago with Dooyoo, which was a pleasant surprise just near Christmas. This printer has been used for printing my CVs and my assignments.
As I didn't buy this printer, I don't know the original price but I'm guessing like most HP printers, it would of cost between £100-200 depending on the time of purchase.
You can buy this printer starting from 9.99 on Ebay and Ebuyer.com is selling it for £25 + £ 5 delivery.
The printer is made by Hewlett Packard, which is a well-known company who produces good quality and lasting products. This printer is for personal use, as the cartridge wouldn't more than a few hours in an office environment.
General info on the printer, it's blue and grey. 42.9 cm x 20.6 cm x 14.4 cm and weighs 2.3 kg.
It has two blue buttons on the left side. The first buttons...

Too costly to repair
Review of HP DeskJet 550C by
jonwhite
Advantages: Durable
Disadvantages: Too costly to repair
...Cost of repairs is too prohibitive on this old printer.
My HP Deskjet 550C finally died on me after 4 years of faithful service. This printer had given years of reliable service and printed literally thousands upon thousands of pages both black and colour. As it had been so faithful I decided I would try to revive it. After examination I decided there was nothing I could do so took it to a local dealer. Nothing he could do I was told other than for him to send it to HP for repair. I was quoted a cost of £110 flat rate from HP at which point I decided that if I was going to spend that ammount I'd be better off buying a new printer which I did....

Print Away
Review of HP DeskJet 610C by
simba3
Advantages: Quility
Disadvantages: Speed and Doesn't like card
...Print Away
Print Happily with the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 610C it does all the jobs you want it to, it may be a little out of the time but it is still a great little printer. The quality that comes out is really good which looks even better on glossy paper.
Sure the print cartridges cost a few pounds but at least you get a big holding supply.
The only thing wrong with most Hewlett Packard DeskJet’s is that they don’t like card! When it tries to take it in and curve it round it has a very hard job.
This printer is a very reliable printer along with all Hewlett Packard’s this printer does it’s thing.
This printer is very cheap good for light / heavy work.
I would recommend this printer....

If I could type as quick as this prints...........
Review of HP LaserJet 1320 by
dyls
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: No network port
...It now seems harder and harder to find that printer that is value for money with price of the unit cost of the toner if it needs a separate fuser element to the plain old cost per page or (pp). HP are well known for making good quality printers and for good reason as they are normally have the reliability, economy and quality with its range of office laser printers.
The new LaserJet 1320 comes in a smart white and grey case. At 10.5Kg, its not going to be blown of the desk with a gust, the high build-quality is of a standard you would expect from HP. The printer pushes out pages at a fast speed, It's quoted rate is 22 pages per minute, Print quality is crisp and black.
The paper tray holds around 200 sheets of A4 paper at a time.
Cartridges cost about £50, so the pp price costs in the about 2p. However, as HP points out, its...

The Perfect Photographs Everytime
Review of HP PhotoSmart 1218 by
Machelle
Advantages: Great Photographs
Disadvantages: none
...I have owned a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 697C for over 6 years now.It has been a very good printer. It has never let me down until now.But I'm surprised with all the photographs and other things I have printed off that it hadn't already messed up.So, it was well worth the money I spent on it.But I had to go shopping for another printer and since Hewlett
Packard has been so good this long.I would look for another one, but maybe with more qualities than the first one.
I do a lot of restoring old photographs and genealogy research which calls for a lot of printing. So I needed something that would print good and sometimes pretty fast.I do family photographs for myself, family and friends.I definitely needed something that would print high quality photo's.
When I bought this Hewlett Packard Photosmart 1218xi Printer I was very...

Typcially good HP Printer
Review of HP Deskjet 710c by
mvc1982
Advantages: Fast and reliable
Disadvantages: Slightly bulky, no USB
...The HP Desk Jet 710C is a fast and reliable printer, as one expects from this manufacturer. I bought one a couple of years ago for just over £100 but they are probably available more cheaply now. Both the black and colour ink cartridges are permanently inside the printer, so there’s no bother with changing cartridges over. Replacement cartridges are relatively inexpensive, typically available for between £20 and £30. The print speed is fast, particularly for text only printing, where it operates at 6 ppm. Colour quality is very good, especially when printing on high quality photo paper. It is slightly bulkier than some of the more recent HP Inkjet printers, but that’s not too much of a problem. Another slight drawback is that it doesn’t offer USB connection.
The maximum resolution in both black and colour is 600 x 600 dpi, which...

Old, but still good
Review of HP DeskJet 550C by
carlossp
Advantages: Still a good quality inkjet printer
Disadvantages: Old, prone to paper pick problems
...Although this printer is quite old, it can still print as well as most modern Inkjet printers. It's sturdy and well made, I think it's design is better than most newer inkjets, although it doesn't look as stylish. It's quite reliable, there are still of lot of these around that have been heavilly used for years.
The print quality is as good as any inkjet, near laser quality. The speed is reasonable. The printer driver is simple and straight forward, you can use the one included with Windows 95/98/2000 Etc.
One disadvantage is it doesn't tell you when your ink is running out, it just stops printing properly, it's like this even on new HP Deskjet printers, I think it's about time HP did something about that.
The only common fault with the printer is when it's old it doesn't always pick paper up form the intray and thinks there...
