...Compaq is a very good place to buy all of your computer software and hardware.I frequently visit because I have never visited and found that they do not have what I am searching for but if they ever did I know they would have it in just a couple of days.This place is good for people of any age because it has everything from computer games to hard drives.There are plenty of Compaq retailers around so where ever you live you shouldn't have to travel far to get to a store.It is also a lot cheaper than most places even though it sells all the same quality goods.... Advantages: Support, ease of maintenance, advanced diagnostics
Disadvantages: Can be slightly slower

...These PCs may not be lightning fast but then they're not meant to be. Not to say they're slow just not as fast as the fastest available. Where they excel is support and ease of maintenance. I have had occasion to log fault calls with Dell, HP and Compaq for fault calls and Compaq win. People take ownership of problems there and you're not passed from pillar to post. Logging warranty calls is straight forward - you don't spend half the morning trying to persuade them what the problem is when he is only half way through page nineteen of his diagnosis script - Compaq are a bit better than that and seem to be capable of independant thought. In terms of design the EN is first class- everything slides together and you don't have to take everything else out to fit a drive. Even the motherboard is on rails - handy if the MD is breathing down... Read review

...onto the tower and lug it around. The monitor is also very heavy and cumbersome but once it is in place then It's got a massive 17inch screen and is fab for designing stuff on. On the whole the software that compaq provide is great, the really impressive USB keyboard can have it's internet browsing softkeys programmed from a site on the internet, which is great. And easy. Make sure you get enough RAM and a big hard drive and you should have no problems. Overall a great little (!) compter that is great in situ but very heavy! I'd buy another one if I had the chance, Compaq have sold this to me anyway.... Read review

...I had been umming and aahing about buying a CD-RW for some time and I finally settled on the HP 9150i, mainly because of the very reasonable price, but also because it seemed a lot easier to fit and install than a SCSI model. HP really couldn't have made it easier. They provide a CD which not only plays you a video to follow, but also checks your computer to tell you what jumper settings and IDE cable to use for the best results. Whilst looking into different CD-RWs, I was told time and time again that the software for copying CDs was as important as the hardware itself. The HP 9150i's software is very intuitive to use with excellent results when both copying a whole CD and making a compilation fom many CDs. There is a update which is downloadable from the web (5MB, so do it at the weekend!) which adds a few more features... Read review

Advantages: Good keyboard, nice screen, memory, hard drives and graphics for money
Disadvantages: Unfortunately this model doesnt have the HDMI which newer ones do.

...A value for money laptop. Good 17" widescreen, loads of memory 2GB, Good hard drive size and I have the AMD 64 AthlonX2 processor. All this combined gives reasonable speed for the cash paid. I use mainly for home use ie internet, word documents etc and it copes easily. The speakers are a little weak but this is to be expected. The laptop is also quite light and therefore confortable while sitting on your knees. As a previously mentioned the camera can be dodgy at times but if you dont use this facility like me its not of great concern. Its also good to keep the system updated with the with the HP updates and the Microsoft Vista updates. This will ensure stability and the most up to date security and drivers.... Read review

...through the sections of IDE cables they don't use so that you can't use them. New IDE cables 4)Yay...it should work now...it does!!! Oh...then I reconnected these little periphals - a keyboard and mouse...and it won't boot up. Why? Because they're only compatible with the Compaq motherboard. New keyboard and mouse too. So....the only original bits of my Compaq are the monitor, floppy drive and CD-Rom (I've since upgrade the Hard Drive too). ...come along this should do just fine. There's no floppy disk drive, although there is a memory card reader at the front that will handle all common card formats. The recordable DVD drive will write + and -R/RW discs as well as dual layer DVD+Rs, while there is also a second DVD drive. The case looks very neat and its good to have many of the features accessable from the front. Software includes Windows XP Home, WinDVD SE, WinDVD Creator and HP Image Zone. I've used this PC together with the HP pavilion f1723 monitor with great success, and would advise you to consider it if you are looking for a new PC.... Read review

...Take a look in my house and the Hewlett-Packard HP is the only type of computer that you will find. I have the A118 and my wife has the 730.uk both of which we are entirely happy with. The older HP's always came with the manufacturers recovery disks whereas the newer ones don't, the recovery is inbuilt by using the start menu, finding system tools and then clicking on system recovery. This is fine unless you have a fatal error which doesn't let you do all of the above. The one time that I have known this to happen I advised the person to telephone Hewlett-Packard direct. She was provided with a set of recovery disks FREE as her computer was less than a year old. The Hewlett-Packard HP will also have pavilion written on it and this is the best sort of computer to have if you are a beginner or a pro. They come complete with Windows... Read review
