Advantages: Ease of use, reliability, print quality

...This toner is designed for use with the HP Laserjet 1100 series printers. We have a number of these printers at the company I work for and so make use of these toners quite a lot. The toner is quoted as having a page life of 2,500 pages and retails at a price of around £40. The cartridge comes packaged in a large box with the toner type clearly labelled on the front, which is handy. The toner is secured within the box by two large cardboard holders and comes in package that closely resembles bin bag material! In Use This toner cartridge has been sensibly designed so as to make it a fairly easy process when removing an old toner and replacing with a new one. Those of you who remember my stunning, wrongly uncrowned review of the HP300 will remember how it ran out after just 140 pages. Well, this time I splashed out on the upgrade. Basically, these cost £30 each, although I picked them up on ebay for around £19 brand new and sealed. They are print cartridges that do a lot more than the HP300. ...Inkjet cartridges are very expensive, particularly so for Hewlett Packard printers, although I am sure that most makes of printer have equally expensive cartridges. You can get the Hewlett Packard printers at very competitive prices now, and I have a Deskjet 710c, which has been replaced by newer models, nevertheless I think it is a good quality printer, quiet, and the print quality is crisp and clear. The only downside to this printer for me, is the cost of new inkjet cartridges, and I do tend to run out fairly often, as I am always printing information which I find on the web, apart from the fact my grandchildren also like to print stuff too! ...I bought an HP 1200d Printer in April of this year. I chose this printer because the reviews I had read were excellent and I wanted a printer with seperate ink cartridges that were quock and were in my privce range. This printer met all 3 conditions. The print speed of text is very very quick, colour printing is quick but photos are fairly slow however the quaality is excellent. The printer has a built in duplex facility. The 1200d is a little bigger than most ink jets, at 8.3in by 19.9in by 18.3in (HWD). The ink cartridges are separate from the print heads, so you have to install four of each also there are 4 seperate print heads to deal with. HP says each cartridge can manage 1,750 pages. The beauty of seperate cartridges is that if the Cyan runs out you just change the cyan you do not loose the remainder of teh other...

For these they would pay us £2.50 for Lexmark or £1.50 for Hewlett Packard - but only if they are original, and used once!! The price list includes prices for Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Xerox, Cannon and Epson (with the Epson, Canon and Xerox being Compatible Cartridges and the Hewlett Packard and Lexmark being remanufactured. To give you an idea of the prices - Hewlett Packard £13.95 to £16.95, Lexmark £16.95 to £19.95, Epson £3.95 to £10.95, Canon £1.95 to £3.95, or £4.95 for Black set of three and £6.45 for colour set of three for BJC60/70/80, the list also says that there is a four for the price of three on Canons, Xerox £4.95. HP D1470 Inkjet Printer.

Advantages: Very cheap, durable, and excellent for the amateur computer user.
Disadvantages: Tray a little too small, and a few issues with packing the tray with paper.

...I bought the D1470 on special offer in Argos several months ago for £19.99, the current price on promotion being £18.74 (as of the 9th February 2008), although my local store is having difficulty getting the item into stock again (the predecessor, D1460 is available on Amazon just shy of £24). Again, home delivery options are apparently limited with the item currently out of stock in their distribution centre, so be prepared to be disappointed. Ebay auctions are available, but you will be looking at between £25 - £29.99. Typical ink cartridge prices (genuine HP) are currently £12.89 in Argos for black, and £16.99 for colour (this printer taking the standard 2 cartridges, not the mixers in other printers).
