HP Ipaq - a mixed bag.

Advantages: Battery life quite good, well built
Disadvantages: small screen, poor phone reception

...Background: The company I work for distributes my jobs to the field via a PDA phone. This system was introduced last February when we started out using the disastrously poor quality O2 XDA IIi pda phone, which suffers badly from poor battery life and an overwhelming aptitude to crash several times a day. In an attempt to improve the situation the company is trialling a couple of new handsets, one of which is the HP IPaq. It arrived on Friday so I charged it up to put it through its paces. I was a bit disappointed in the screen size, it is about two thirds of the size of the XDA and it is hard enough to work on that one. HP iPaq Enterprise Handheld

Advantages: Easy to use.

...I have just joined Ciao community to put the record straight on this PDA. A previous Ciao reviewer has given a negative review. I have only owned the PDA (HP iPaq 214 Enterprise Handheld) for two days. I believe I was one of the first in the UK to receive this machine as it became available from 25th January 2008. I was almost put off buying the iPaq by the other review here, but decided to give it a try. I am glad, as the PDA does everything a PDA should and at a very good speed and price. The other review here is definitely not for the iPaq 214. How did he get it some months before anyone else? The description bears no resemblance to my iPaq 214. The reviewer says the camera is appalling and defunct - it does not have a camera at all, so that clears that up. It does have 128 MB SDRAM and 256MB flash ROM, mine also came with 1GB SD card...

HP iPAQ 114 - A fine 'basic' PDA

Advantages: Value for money, fast processor, stylus
Disadvantages: Weight (too light!), lots of pressure needed to use touch screen

...My review is based on the HP Ipaq RX3118 Deciding to buy A couple of years ago, I decided that I needed a PDA to help me organise things and also wanted to buy a satnav but at the time the "TomToms" were quite expensive. I decided the rough specification that I wanted out of the PDA and that I needed WIFI and Bluetooth, as well as it being Windows based. After much searching through the internet I stumbled across the HP IPAQ RX3115 on the handtec website. It had exactly what I wanted, WIFI, Bluetooth, Pocket Windows 2003, enough ram and a fairly quick processor, the unit also appeared quite compact and had decent battery life. HP Ipaq 514 - dont leave home without it

Advantages: Email downloads, handy windows mobile features
Disadvantages: Not all networks support the handset

...HPs first attempt at a mobile phone with mobile PC features, rather than their usual iPaq handhelds, with he phone as an afterthought. This phone is extremely useful and comes with lots of useful features. Running windows mobile, it has all the things you'd come to expect, MS word, excel, powerpoint etc, Wireless, bluetooth, IR, etc. Classic iPaq games like bubblebreaker are included. You can set it to use VOIP (e.g. skype) when using the wireless network to cut communications costs. I find this particulary useful when travelling to download my business emails using IMAP setup. The camera is fairly standard and voice activation is fairly difficult to get to work, unless you have a monotone voice!! Advantages: Good screen and processor for a small thing, connects to PC easily
Disadvantages: No phone, so limited connectivity

...I have had several Ipaqs which I primarily used as a portable diary so it would sync my diary with the one on my desktop which my secretary organised. It meant that if I was out of the office I could make an appointment knowing what was already in the diary and when I get back I would just plug it in to its docking system on the desk, the diary would update and she would immediately see the appointment I had put in. It uses active sync. Great. And the idea of having Windows functionality in a palm top was once a real advance. But then the blackberry appeared. Same functionality as the IPAQ, but with internet access, email etc, so they surely do so much more? Things have moved on. The shop sells:- hair accessories nail varnish belts purses jewellery and more You can also have your ears pierecd here too. I've been in the shop a couple of times now to buy hair accessories and nail varnish. There is a wide range of items to choose from in different colours. As soon as you go through the door though, they are lunging a hand basket at you. If you do not take one they do not seem too pleased about it either. When you are paying for your goods, they always ask if you want to buy the bargain of the day like a nail file. They do not seem to be satisfied with what you take to the counter at all. Advantages: good little accessories, good bargains

...I know a lot of people that when you say Claire's Accessories they would say oh that shop for teenagers but it isn't for them only, it's for girls in general. Females I should maybe say it sells a lot of things that are not too expensive but very nice still. From the branches I have been in I have seen them sell make-up, nail accessories, bags, books and so many things. This shop is not only in the UK because I saw t in America so I don't actually know where it started. One main thing I know this shop for is piercing ears they are trained I'm sure but I don't think I could trust anyone. They pierce ears usually right at the front of the shop and everyone can watch, they will probably be fine but they could do it away from the customers buying and I have heard that not all of the staff here actually know how to pierce.
