Good things in small packages

Advantages: Small and perfectly formed

I put it to them that anything I did to resurrect the system was going to be temporary, and that they needed something with a bit more clout to see them through the next couple of years at least. ...So what's it got and is it worth it. My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista. The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home. Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting. The screen is 15.4 inches with WXGA Brightview technology. There is a wired network adaptor as well as a wireless connection via a Broadcom 802.11 b/g, allowing...

...When I bought this or only 699 pounds brand new, I knew it was a bargain. With a memory of 30gb, speed 1.2 ghz and 256mb ram, dvd drive, it was more that I required for my college studies. However, as www. microwarehouse.co.uk had it on special offer, 699 exc VAT (835 pounds inc VAT and delivery) was a price too good to resist. Besides, should I wish to buy a new laptop, I would probably pay close to the same amount for a model of a much less well established make and of much less advanced configuration. Well, what should I say about this laptop? Appearance wise, it is of a slim, black design, which is professional looking unlike some bulkier models. IT is very light - only 2.9 kg heavy, and is thus very portable. The battery, according to description, lasts for 3 hrs, but in effect it is about 3-4 hours which is much better...

SAMSUNG NP-NC10 Blue Netbook 1.6ghz Atom Processor

Advantages: Robust, Large Keyboard, Large Screen, Good Support.
Disadvantages: 1 Memory Slot, No Mobile Broadband Sim Slot, Specific keyboard key in unusual place.

...This netbook has to be one of my favourites, boasting a solid case, 10' screen and a fast bootup to Windows XP. Having played around with a few netbooks recently all boasting similar specifications, I can honestly say that I was not disappointed with this offering from Samsung. There are some negatives that let this review down slightly, so I will get these out of the way first. 1. The "\" key is located on the right side of the keyboard next to the "/" key. This takes some getting used to when swapping from a normal keyboard and you tend to select this by accident instead of the shift key. 2. There is no mobile broadband sim socket, so you have to buy one of the mobile broadband usb sticks which is fine but it would have been neater to simply keep a sim permanently in the netbook. 3. The BIOS on my netbook was out of date...

Celeron Or PIII

Advantages: Cheap,reliable
Disadvantages: not for graphics, or design application

...If you want to to build a low-cost but reliable system, the Intel Celeron chip is always the chip I consider using in comparison with all the other chip like AMD or etc . The celeron is fast enough to watch DVD from the computer write application have multiboot system. Play games etc. From the other hand if you using graphics packages or design programm don't go for celeron Dot think about the money buy a PIII which is more fast in this kind of application. But ofcourse is much more expensive. I can also recomend overclocking the celeron which is safe, Intel know about they first use to overclocking the DX2 33 to 66Mz. But however the decision is yours....

Celeron II - A gone wrong PIII

Advantages: Pretty fast, PIII core
Disadvantages: Not cheap in budget terms

...The bosses at Intel have finally decided that they cant waste any processors any more. Its takes too much money and time in the industry to manufacture too many chips because they dont have many fabrication plants to do the job. Basically they had to find a way to make lots of different chips very quickly. Well here's the clever part. The Celeron II (not official name) is simply a PIII, well I say simply a PIII but that's what they are. Only difference is they are faulty PIII's. Not faulty as in they don't work, but faulty as in half of the 256k cache doesn't work. All Intel have done to these chips is disable the bad half of the cache and there you have a shiny new Celeron II. Not bad eh?
