...Laptops are a pretty boring subject to write a review about. We all know what they do, so what makes this one special. Well first let me quickly run through the specs so that you know what we're dealing with here. It weighs in at just under 3kg which is not bad at all for a laptop/notebook. Mind you HP call it a notebook which I would disagree with. There are Sony VIAO's out there that are real notebooks. This baby however is bigger than what I could consider to be a notebook so I'm going to refer to it as a laptop. I do a fair amount of travel on business and this machine is just about right for long distance travel to far away countries. HP's budget NX6125 - The Real Deal!

Advantages: Fast, Large Screen, Great keyboard, 4Hour battery life
Disadvantages: Looks dated, screen casing a bit flimsy, small HDD and Memory

...I first discovered the NX6125 in a local computer shop, and wasn't particularly drawn to it's business-like, dark and plain looks. The specification sheet didn't look too impressive either, but after finding out this marvel only cost £459 I was keen to look deeper! Closer inspection revealed some hidden secrets - a multi-card reader, fingerprint scanner, 4 hour battery life and an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M PCI Express graphics card all made the NX6125 seem like a real bargain. So I bought one! After a full charge at home, Windows reported 4 hours and 14 minutes of battery, dropping to 2 hours and 35 under heavy load (CPU tests and defragmenting!) This turned out to be 4 hours and 9 minutes, and 2 hours 24 when actually left and timed. Both tests were with Wireless LAN off, the screen set to 50% brightness, and power management...

Advantages: Cheap reliable and good print outs

...Currently on offer for £26.87 in ASDA is this rather neat looking all in one printer. It is from HP so you know you are getting a quality product. It is perhaps a little bulkier than recent printers I have purchased, but with it having a Photo Copier and a Scanner I guess I can easily forgive it for this little hic cup. The unit as I mentioned is largish being that it is 6.8 inches high and 16.76 inches wide with a depth of 10.22 inches, but in this matt black box is a host of features for a measly £26 quid. My main reason fro changing printer was that this baby was £1.50cheaper than buying new cartridges for my ex Lexmark printer. I did take the opportunity of pricing replacement cartridges for this before purchasing, and they are fairly priced being about £12 each for the black and the colour. There is provision...

Changing the cartridges is really simple - this printer takes HP 350 black ink cartridges, and HP 351 tri-colour ink cartridges. These are also available in 'XL' sizes, which provide a lot more ink for your money - really good value. Special HP 348 photo cartridges are also available, for those wanting to print high-quality images. The front flap folds in completely flush with the rest of the printer, which is great for saving space when it's out of use. Whilst the printer offers fantastic value for money and all the features you could possibly want, the software is probably the main thing that lets it down.
